Wow! We were in Iowa from Chicago for our nephew's 3rd birthday and were very impressed with Pizza Ranch, especially the manager Abby Lee. The staff was amazing. They decorated the whole party room and stayed on hand during the whole event. Kids loved the ice cream and parents LOVED the chicken. The game room kept the kids busy and seemed to be brand new. Staff was actively disinfecting games-which was awesome to see during these winter months. We will for sure be back next time we are in town. read more

Every time we go to this pizza ranch they don't have very many pizzas and not a lot of chicken. We have requested a pizza and that takes a long time and by the time that comes we have already done eating. We like the food at pizza ranch but at lunchtime they need to have more pizza and chicken. Since I live in North Liberty, I come here from time to time. And the place just keeps getting worse. Came in the other night, and they're short of chicken. Which pretty almost seems the case. Their basics are chicken, pizza, and salad. But half the time they have no chicken during busy period (Friday and Saturday nights, 5:30 - 7). Then when i go in, there's no pepperoni pizza and half a tray of cold breadsticks. I ask the front desk person as I pay for my buffet: I'd like a pepperoni pizza. She tells me it's on its way. Twenty minutes later, no pepperoni pizza. The breadsticks go quickly and they're not replaced. Chicken comes out once, and of course there's a mad rush for it because everyone else has been waiting as well: there's at least one party in a back room, and they're up there complaining about the lack of chicken. I'm lucky to grab two pieces. How do you run a pizza buffet and not have pepperoni (or sausage, or cheese, or hamburger: none of them, either) pizza in a 20-30 minute span? They have their theme/"special" pizzas, but none of the basic. No breadsticks, i.e, a cheese pizza cut up into "sticks". Barely any chicken. I don't expect them to bring the pizza I asked for to my table, but they can't even get it on the buffet table. My advice: when you come in, take a look at the food before ordering the buffet. If there's little or nothing there, go somewhere else. Red's has decent flatbread, Digiorno's is nearby and you can get a decent pizza there. There's no buffet at either place and Red's is usually busy, but you ain't getting any buffet at Pizza Ranch Buffet either for supper on Friday and Saturday nights. When it comes to buffets, my criteria are variety, taste, cleanliness and (for lack of a better word) restocking. This Pizza Ranch definitely delivers on the variety and restocking. Each trip to the pizza buffet featured an assortment of fresh, hot pizzas. Unfortunately, the flavor was only average and the salad bar was a bit of a mess, with lots of cross item spillage. I guess that's okay if you like macaroni salad in your chocolate pudding. Don't go there! This was recently remodeled and just reopened a couple of weeks ago. When it first reopened they had partitions in front of the food and they served customers. This was clean and safe. This week barriers have been removed and it is an open buffet which is not safe at this time. Took the family to pizza ranch last night. Once again let down. They just don't or can't keep up with demand. A regular thing as far as I'm concerned. Both party rooms were in use and dining room was busy. I will give them credit that it was a busy night. Knowing there are 2 party's on a Saturday night you would think they would schedule enough staff to keep up(assuming that was the problem). Appeared to be lots of dirty plates and silverware on the buffet. Had a hard time restocking buffet. People leaning on the wall around the buffet waiting for food to be brought out. Standing water in the bathroom hallway. There are cleaner bathrooms in truck stops. People cleaning their own tables with napkins and water from the pop machine so they can have a place to sit. Two people had messed up take out pizzas(in 1 hours time). I think they need a few more adults that know what they are doing on the clock. At least on busy nights. Worst customer service I have ever experienced!Called for delivery and after getting nothing but ringing for the first 5-10 tries we finally got through to the girl that struggled through the whole process of taking our order. Finally got quoted a 40-45 min time frame for delivery. After an hour and fifteen minutes we called in 2 more times and was told it was out for delivery. Twenty minutes later I spoke with the manager Janelle to express our concerns and all she could say was "what do you expect me to do." Not the best response from a MANAGER!! We then came to realize we were lied to previously when we were told it was out for delivery. Won't be giving them our business anytime soon! I am a pizza ranch fan, but this place definitely let me down from my expectations. I was there once when visiting the area and everything on the buffet was burned to the point of being blackened. The staff didn't seem to care or surprised when I mentioned the charred looks and taste. They surely didn't do anything about it (like speed up the conveyer on the oven so it didn't burn) Salad bar was average. Chicken was below average for pizza ranch.
