There are acres of blueberries growing in neat rows, and they're full of fruit. You enter the farm, park in a grassy field, grab a bucket at a table by the orchard, and head out to pick. The helpful people who give you the buckets tell you a bit about the varieties that they grow, and about the colored streamers on each row that tell you which variety is growing there. Here in Central Florida it gets hot early in the year, so the plants fruit early. What's comfy for the plants is comfy for us, so picking is usually in great weather. When you've finished picking enough, you take the bucket back to the table and pay for what you picked. By comparison, what costs you $8 at a store like Walmart costs you $6 at Beck Brothers farm. So go now, or plan for next April, and get enough blueberries to make your jam, your ice cream, your muffins and pies. Freeze the excess and you'll always be ready to eat the berries that your family and friends picked on a lovely Spring day.

Meat prices are listed as $/lb; but all frozen meat beef, chicken lamb, duck, pork only comes in more than 1 pound packages.They sell more prepackaged foods in Plastic than glass or paper packaging, than they did in the past. They have 1 small bison, 2-Emu, 2-Bramaha cows, 1-llama(recently sheared), ducks, and chicken to look at and pet if you want to. Sadly it looks like end stage Capitalism is happening at Lake Meadow Farm too. They seem to be more interested in profits than they do in customer satisfaction and customer service. They carry lafermière yougurt at 5.99 a container while target charges $3.19, and a instant charges $3.49. On on a sidenote, they do have little placards along the walkway from the parking lot to the store where you could put your child's face on a picture and show them as being a cow or a farmer if you choose. in retrospect, they used to always be expenses but now they're just ridiculously expensive. I hope you enjoy this review and if Lake Meadows wants to continue in business and not go under, they may wanna look at investment brokers to invest in their farm so that they can sell off the property and then close it off for a profit.

They offer several types of u-pick fruits, veggies and sunflowers at different times of the year. They have a fun zone area and food trucks. The only thing I don't see on this farm are animals. I love that they allow the 5K races at least once a year. With those races, you usually get blueberry pancakes and a pint container to pick your own blueberries from at least 6 fields. There were 2 available to pick from when we were there. Plump and sweet blueberries are to be had if you know how to pick them. Don't let the bees scare you off. Leave them alone and you will be fine, unless someone in the next aisle pissed them off. They have peaches, sunflowers and strawberries to pick as well. I noticed the map also shows veggies but not sure when or which kind are available but nice to know. I love the observation deck above the gift shop. Amazing views of the farm and surrounding land with plenty of seating to take it all in while you enjoy a cup of coffee from the gift shop. We went on a Sunday and the parking lot was packed so we had to circle to find a spot. Luckily, there seem to always be people coming AND going so it only took a few minutes. Freshfields Farm is split up into 3 distinct areas - the fresh meat store, the fresh produce store, and the ice cream (and hot dog) window. We decided to head to the meat entrance first. The area is not that big but it is just lots of selections of fresh meat, cheese and butter. The meats seemed to be pretty good prices, slightly below Publix where I normally shop. There was ground beef, turkey, steak, chicken and seafood. Plus some huge cuts of meat like picanha and ribs. If you are going to have a BBQ, this is the place to go. Also, workers were constantly bringing out new packages and some people were waiting for them. I picked up 2 pounds of ground beef and some boneless, skinless chicken breasts. The cashiers were nice and super quick. Then we headed outside and then next door to the produce section. Basically the same as the meat department but filled with produce. There were bins of fresh strawberries when we walked in as well as avocados, a whole section of bananas and plantains, rainbow carrots, and even full cacao pods! I'm guessing they just showcase fresh seasonal produce so for example, while there were fresh plums, I didn't see navel oranges. There was also a fridge case full of squeezed juices and lemonades. And a big section of various types of mushrooms. I got a package of sliced cantaloupe and a big pack of 30 eggs. We checked out the ice cream window, which looked super yummy but because we hadn't eaten lunch yet, we decided we'll come back another time to try it.

When I arrived, an attendant was very nice to direct us where to park. Walking to the parking lot to main entrance was pretty easy. Once ticket was scanned, we were able to enter. The first thing you see if the small area where they are selling pumpkins. It was at a reasonable price, but I didn't buy any. The petting zoo was nearby, and it was 5 dollars for treats or feed. There were goats, camels, zebra, llama, turtles, and others you can pet and feed. Those animals were definitely looking for treats and happy when fed. Pony, horse, and camel rides were available too. It was 10 dollars for pony (under 85 lbs), and 15 dollars for horse or camel, which adults are also allowed to ride. It was definitely expensive for two short laps on each animal (so I paid 30), but worth it. After healing from my injury, being able to sit on each animal for a little over a minute was worth it! The staff was very friendly, and help you get on and off, and also willing to take photos. There was also a small playground across from the petting zoo. Walking further takes you to the food and drink area. There were a few food trucks. Walk a bit more has even a bigger play area with even a stage that had live music. Kids were playing a lot in the area, while there were some small seats to enjoy the music as well. They had a mechanical bull this week, and it was included. Lots of kids and some adults (including myself at an easy pace) rode. There were slides, tug of war, roping area, and sand area. They also had a free tractor ride that went around the sunflower garden. There was a paintball area, but that cost an extra 10 dollars. Overall, kids would have good fun, but single adults may be a bit bored. There were some people picking the sunflowers, but I didn't know how much extra it cost. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I was happy parking was free. However, some activities were extra cost, and quite expensive. 10 dollars for the horse or camel rides would have been more reasonable. The food and drinks looked to be pretty pricey too. I think it was 7 dollars for beer, 9 dollars for wine, and 2.50 for soda and water. I don't remember how much were the food. Air conditioned restrooms were available near the stage and big playground area, but port of potties were also there. I did enjoy the farm festival. Looks like they have it every weekend doing the fall season, and the admission was reasonable. However, extras were extra, and it did get expensive. Do Good Farm located in Winter Garden, near the Roper YMCA, is doing more than good. They are changing lives across the globe, all while reducing our carbon footprint through regenerative, sustainable farming practices. Their small 1.5 acres farm is home to a luscious food forest, goats, chickens, hydroponic crops and so much more! They use no-till farming practices and no chemicals anywhere on the farm. The food grown is free of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides and harsh fertilizers. According to Owner/Operator, Josh Taylor (owner of HouseBlends Cafe in Ocoee) they are able to harvest foods year round and are partnering with communities across the world to help train them in these sustainable practices - hoping to end world hunger. Yes, they do offer a CSA where you can fill a crate every other week with fresh produce and eggs straight from the farm! BUT even more exciting than clean eating is their DINNER BELL. Do Good Farm hosts The Dinner Bell al fresco dining experience a few times a year in the "cooler" months. We attended the November 2020 Dinner Bell and were blown away by the beauty of this small but mighty local farm! We were greeted with a lovely cider spiced from their allspice plant on property. This is an interactive dining experience starting with a self-guided tour as you follow the romantic fairy lights through the food forest to two stations offering hot appetizers and wine pairings. Listen for the dinner bell and make your way to the main stage where Chef/Owner, Josh Taylor, prepares the two entree courses LIVE while also speaking about their mission and food practices (for example, why the grind the whole wheat grain to make flat bread and retain nutrients, etc...) Each course is served with a very nice wine pairing (Conundrum, Dreaming Tree, Josh, and others.) The sweetest part of the night is dessert served fireside, under the stars and beneath their gorgeous Neem tree (nature's bug repellent.) They highlight which ingredients used in each dish are from the farm - it seemed to me that more than 85%, maybe 90%, of the ingredients used were harvested directly from Do Good, cooked a served to us that day. The staff was so gracious, welcoming and worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail was on point. And as if trying to end world hunger wasn't thanks enough, each guest took home a "giveaway" - fresh farm eggs tied with a bow. The food was delicious and I even felt great the next morning even though we stuffed ourselves that night; which is a true testament to the quality of the food served. I cannot recommend enough that you go and experience Do Good Farm yourself! They offer farm tours, volunteer opportunities but if a lovely night out is your thing, sign up for the Dinner Bell! The proceeds from their CSA and The Dinner Bell go directly to their mission and to continue their work locally on the farm.
