I have been meaning to write this reviews for two years. The pharmacy staff and the pharmacist at Tom Thumb have given our family the best service of any pharmacy we've ever been to. My son is disabled and has lots of medicines. They never miss a beat. They not only provide our prescriptions on time, but their friendliness and their personal service is out of this world. I refer everyone I can to Tom Thumb pharmacy on Skillman. Thanks to all of you for giving us a perfect experience. read more

My experience ordering a cake today was super hilarious, around 2pm asked for a cake for the following day but he told me just accepted 24 hours request. I explained between today and tomorrow 5 pm you have 27 hours but he said, you need to put a request 1 day before the 24 hours. So I asked do I need 48 hours? He said NO, you need to let us know 1 day before the 24 hours. Lol. Super disappointed, drive all the way to lovers and they solved my problem read more

Whips and chips! I only go here for the grass fed beef, JC Porter sausage and to re-connect with my Oak Cliff roots. It's still Tom Thumb (over-priced). Be ready for anything when at this store or in the immediate area. When leaving the parking lot one morning, a naked lady ran full sprint past the front of my car with a guy (thankfully, clothed) trailing behind. Just bad... I get off work late so I go as fast as I can I rush to the store to get my kids stocked up for the week after I get off. The sign says they close at 11pm but at roughly 10:45 the cashier comes on the loud speaker In her best Flo the rude waitress voice and tells customers "they have 15 minutes and the store is closing so if they want their groceries then they had better get to the register"... classy.. at 10:50 the security guard of all people start following you around and reminding you that they close in 10 minutes so hurry up... I wonder what the corporate office thinks about running customers off with $200 plus dollars in their basket just so Flo can go home right at 11... on 10/4/20 I had enough. They had turned out half of the lights in the store at 10:50 and the security guard kept bugging me to hurry. When I got to the register I was in a foul mood and I was putting groceries on the roller belt as fast as I could and the cashier(Flo from the loud speaker) wasn't checking out the groceries. I looked up and she was just staring at me. That infuriated me even more so I told her she could start checking products any time now. I could tell she was annoyed that she had to scan over $200 worth of products at 10:55. After running me out well before they close I could care less what Flo thinks. This store has always had a major personality problem and after thinking about why that is, all I can come up with is that particular location is just trashy and lo class. When you think about it on a higher level, their parent company (Albertsons) is your typical large corporation who's only concern is how to save a dollar while putting up a front about being for the customer. They are not for the customer.. They hire anyone and $9 per hour doesn't buy much. Never has, never will... I'm not sure if those "run customers out" tactic is managements or the cashiers but that is no way to treat customers. I'm done with all Tom Thumbs.... I frequently visit this Tom Thumb store because of the location from my home. I Go to this store every morning during the week to pick up a Dallas Morning Newspaper. But today May 1, 2022 I decided to purchase a Sunday newspaper which I never have done before so I did not know the price. So I figured $6.49 was normal because the price of the weekly paper cost $2.99. So I decided to return one paper to get my money back, but Ana in customer service said I could not return it because I opened the plastic containing-the 2 newspapers. Well low and behold a older Caucasian female right behind puts an open box of medicine on the counter with no receipt as well and Ana gives her a store gift card. So I ask what's the difference between an open box of medicine or an open package with 2 newspaper. She responded there's a difference. I say there are both your product! So I say this is blatant rascism! And you should be fired! The manager comes and says it was a misunderstanding. I say no way this is blatant rascism! So he gets Racist Ana to return my money! Good selection of items. Most items are on sale. My BIGGEST problem is the one gentleman in the deli section who never said wears his mask unless asked to do so. In this COVID era everyone needs to wear a mask especially someone who slices the deli meats. Management needs to wake up and rectify this problem. read more

As long as you do not need help, this is the place for you. Ordering from the bakery or other depts can be a challenge to find someone to help. When I finally went to customer service I was asked if I wanted a manager (which never happened either). Left without what I went in for. Lots of beautiful cakes behind counter getting stale because no one can buy them. Go to a neighborhood bakery if need need something right away. read more

I shop here because its a 3 minutes drive from home. It's a super expensive supermarket, and the prices are always messed up and you have to claim the cashier, deli staff are rude and unwelcoming. You ask for thin and they give you what they want. Pharmacy staff is professional, friendly and courteous. You can bring a concern to the manager and good luck with that. I hate going to this Tom Thumb. I only go in if I absolutely must! Theres always sketchy people lurking outside or sitting in their cars at the end of the parking lot. Its definitely not the cleanest of stores. They missed the buzzer on organization. Produce is definitely some of the worst Ive seen. I refuse to buy anything "fresh" from here. The only things I get if needed are flour, etc. I feel like those are safe products to buy at a store like this. The employees aren't very friendly or helpful. Yeah this one is pretty sucky. Store is clean, selections are decent and the produce is okay. Little sketchy, but that's the area. Can't fault the store on that and didn't bother me none. People just want their groceries, right? They are short staffed, primarily with cashiers. And the two cashiers they have are pretty slow. Long lines that take long! With about 3-5 other employees doing nothing. Manager is half-assed. Hides out in his cage until a cashier screws up or a customer gets unruly. Definitely won't step in and help ring customers. Who doesn't carry the basic, ever popular essential food item like Reames Frozen Egg Noodles???? This store! Ggrrrr seriously!!!! Nothing is more annoying when you plan a recipe and buy everything, only to find you can't find that ONE most important item. Ever hear of home style Chicken & Noodles Tom Thumb??? Then you think of another meal to make instead and you can't find that item either (Great Northern Beans for white chicken chili). Maybe because this is the closest grocery store to my home I haven't had quite the negative experience like everyone else. Yes, the store is located in a somewhat "sketchy" spot as others have noted, but the area has really been cleaned up, and there are lots of new businesses that have opened in the last year or so. That has helped clean up unwanted clientele lurking in the lot. Their produce, in my opinion, is some of the better quality stuff than other stores in the immediate area. I've never had an issue with checkout other than an extreme peak times, and I've never been checked out by anyone with an attitude. I've been shopping here on a weekly basis for almost three years, and I enjoy it. They have great clearance sections throughout the store, and you can get some great deals on items! If you sign up for their Safeway mobile app, they will email you when you can get the best gas rewards (ex., spend $20, get .20 off per gallon). Anywho, I really like this Tom Thumb, and I will continue to shop there! read more

They keep products on the shelf even after best by date has passed. I went on September 6th and milk had a best by date of September 1st

This Tom Thumb is awful. Lines are frequently 5 or 6 shoppers deep. I would avoid this store after dark without question. Choices are very limited as well. Thankfully there will soon be a Sprouts opening a few blocks away. read more

This is a perfectly adequate grocery store. I've only been here once, but I didn't experience the issues that others reviewers have. I was able to find everything I needed, I didn't wait long in line, and all employees were polite and professional. If I could change anything, I would make the organic produce section larger, but it's no different from any other run of the mill grocery store. read more

We just moved into this neighborhood and I have shopped at a number of the nearby grocery stores. This Tom Thumb provided the best experience of all that I've had. The store was very clean and the staff was polite and friendly.The aisles were laid out in a way that was easy to navigate and clear markings made it easy for me to find what I was looking for. I've had some weird experiences at this store lately. I'm somewhat of a regular here, and went in there today to pick up a prescription for my mother, and also bought a cpl products. I then stood in front of the store a cpl minutes and requested a Lyft. When my Lyft came about 5 mins later, I got in the back seat of the guy's car, and after I did, a police suddenly appeared outside the door and was completely locked in on me(Staring).. I expressed an upset response about it, which made the driver ask what was wrong, as we were driving off.. I told him about the police, and he looked and said that he was still looking and writing something down. I'm like what the hell.. I wasn't in the store no time, didn't close to look like I had stolen anything.. Didn't do anything weird in the store, no kind of bad interaction with anyone, Nothing.. I don't know what this was about, but it's crazy as hell, that as a AfAm man I can't go into the store for a few minutes, do everything right and walk away from the store w/o this kind of an experience. Now I feel like I gotta be walking on eggshells whenever I go in there for thinking that this fool or some other fool in the store got something in their head about me... What's really weird is that I had called this store a cpl hrs earlier to complain on a Mexican cashier lady, who had been very unfriendly, and cold acting towards me for no reason the night before. I didn't say anything to the woman, it was just her personality towards me from the start.. And then this weird thing happen after that phone call.. Also as I was walking out the store last night, the security guard steps out of his little spot he was standing in and looked at me as I was putting the cart in the area where they go.. Their customer service is horrible, to the extent you can get it all. Their customer service desk closed early, and the indifferent asst. manager I spoke with in the store seemed quite irritated at my suggestion that they remain open during their posted hours, as I had made a special trip there. She didn't care and made no effort to act like she did or to hide her hostility. Customers are a real imposition here. I expected more in light of the premium prices Tom Thumb charges. I've shopped this store from its beginning and have seen it decline over the years as its been purchased and changed hands several times over the years. I always check expiration dates and always find something past "Best buy" date. And you need to be pretty sharp and agile to maneuver through all of the displays in the floral and deli areas! I think they try but just can't get on top of everything at once! I'll keep going back because I like the Gas Rewards and convenience. And I will continue sending emails to the management! read more
