The service at this location has reached a point where it is genuinely unsettling. Finding an employee who is actually present and engaged is almost impossible. I want to be clear that this review is directed specifically at the online order pickers. The rest of the employees in the deli, produce, and sushi departments seem like everyday, normal people that you can actually have a conversation with. For example, the Asian guy working at the sushi bar is so polite and says hello to me with a big smile every time I pass by. Same with the gentleman by the floral department who is always soft spoken and offers a genuine smile. Now that is customer service! Take notes from the floral and the sushi guys! They are a complete contrast to the robotic pickers who act like my existence is an offensive inconvenience to them. These pickers are literally being paid to ignore the public. I have seen multiple pickers with AirPods in, shamelessly making personal phone calls and laughing with friends while they work. No wonder they act like I am bugging them when I try to ask a simple question. The floor is overrun by these people who treat the aisles like a private racetrack and shove their massive carts around with zero regard for the fact that actual customers are trying to shop. I recently stopped one of these pickers and the interaction was bizarre. She stared back with a completely vacant and soulless expression. There was no recognition and zero intelligence, just a blank and unwilling "let me ask the manager" before wandering off. I waited nearly ten minutes only to find her later gossiping with the manager. When they finally acknowledged me, the manager just gave me a dismissive "if it is not on the shelf it is out of stock" line with a total "I do not care" attitude. It was a staggering display of incompetence. It is a miracle the floral and sushi guys still have energy considering they are surrounded by these empty shells who look like they are just waiting for their next THC vape break. This place is on par with Walmart at its absolute worst. It is like talking to people who are permanently staring like a deer in headlights and cannot process simple information. Please just replace these pickers with robots. At least robots are efficient, they follow basic logic, and they do not smell bad. read more

A quick walk from where I am and very close to downtown! This grocery store reminds me a lot of Kroger and is pretty clean and well maintained. We stopped by the food court area which had a lot of good deals and got both the basic and deviled egg potato salads. Both were good but we definitely preferred the deviled egg potato salad since it was more flavorful. The basic potato salad had less of a mustard flavor than I would like. The service was really good though the guy at the food court was so nice in recommending us things to get. read more

We came here while on vacation in search of some mellow food to break up all the crazy food we'd been eating. The parking is underground and you can take an elevator up to the store with a cart. Someone greeted us nicely as we went in and it was huge and incredibly stocked. They have a deli counter and bakery and so much more. We were able to find everything we needed and get checked out without waiting much. It was a very clean and organized store, seems like a really good option for the area. I favor the egg and chicken salads. Every now and again, they're out of an item. Staff might be able come up with an alternative. Aisles are kept clear. Fair amount of organic produce inventory. Restrooms are past the in-store Starbucks. There's a discounted set of shelves past the registers. Parking available in the underground garage. They've a gas station across the street, if need be. Big time false advertising - multiple items on this trip rang up for more at the register than the prices on the shelves. Over $2 of overcharging on one small $25 visit. Cashier was unconcerned... "that takes a manager to fix" but no offer to get a manager. First item on the receipt marked on the shelf for $4.99 and even AFTER the "discount" they still ripped me off for $1.70 on that single item! Also, the produce at this location is always terrible. Gotta tell ya, don't underestimate too greatly the quality of prepared food at a grocery store. First off this is a gigantic store considering it's in a downtown district. Everything you want in a grocery store is here. As I walked through to pick up some groceries the prepared food section caught my eye. I was taken aback by a two chicken meal for $8.99. Having been tempted by the look and vast variety of the food I ordered a two piece chicken dinner with two sides. Choices of chicken, including jalapeño, baked, and fried. I chose fried. it was actually quite good. A decent amount of food, good, rich flavor, and nice and hot. For two sides, I chose the coleslaw and the mixed vegetable medley. The coleslaw was just OK. A bit on the dry side, and lacked a little bit of flavor, but not too bad. The vegetable salad (completely forgot the name of this) was very good. It was advertised as spicy, but it really wasn't. It had corn, carrots, red peppers, and some white funky thing. I tried to decipher what the white funky thing was, but couldn't. But it was surprisingly good. I would say for $8.99. I have always had pleasant experiences at this Tom Thumb location, which makes my most recent visit all the more disappointing. When I approached the deli section for assistance, the manager on duty was on his phone and did not acknowledge me for nearly 30 seconds -- no eye contact, no greeting, nothing. He then proceeded to walk away from the section entirely. I had to stop him and ask if he was going to help me. Instead of responding professionally, he treated me like an inconvenience. His only response was "Oh, I'm sorry, what do you want?" -- no genuine apology, no customer service, no accountability. I have already reached out to store director Jill McComber directly and am waiting to see how this is handled. Christmas Eve I went to cash in some scratch and draw lottery tickets, and get a few items food before Christmas. I took my lottery tickets to customer service. I did a brief calculation prior to getting there estimating I would receive about $22. I had four draw tickets and three scratch tickets. The customer service attendant on duty at 11:30 AM gave me $15 in exchange for my tickets. I indicated I thought it was going to be a little bit more. She insisted it was only $15. And she also provided me receipts, but only in the amount of $11. I asked if I could have the tickets back that were not winners. She indicated that they were thrown away. I asked to see her supervisor in efforts to receive the tickets back. A supervisor did not return. however, the same girl return. She turned around and took one of the draw lottery tickets out of the trash. It was not torn up. I asked her for the other tickets and she said there were no more. I said what did you do with them? She said I tore them up. I asked why didn't you tear up the one that you got out of the trash. I received no answer. She said I only won $15. Then I asked why did I get receipts equal $11 if you're giving me $15. She said she must've forgotten to give me one of the receipts back. I basically left in frustration. I am a senior citizen man. I'm afraid she took advantage of me. I don't know why her supervisor never came to assist. It doesn't seem like I was treated fairly and I don't trust to go back to this Tom Thumb to customer service and have any dealings with them and lottery tickets. I shop at the Tom Thumb store on Live Oak regularily, even though it is not the closest TT grocery store to my home. I keep coming back beacuse of the outstanding customer service I consistently receive at this store. I would like to highlight one of the employees who, several times now, has made my shopping experience at this store memorable. Her name is Katie, and she works in the meat departmemt. Each time I have come to the meat counter, she has welcomed me with a cheerful smile, and sincere desire to take care of me. She acts like she enjoys her job and is happy that you are there. She maintains eye contact and conversation while waiting on you. Yesterday, Katie went above and beyond her duties behind the counter. After ordering some turkey, I asked her if she knew where the ground horseradish was - all I could find was the creamed horshradish. She was not sure, but instead of sending me off with some possible locations, while her colleague minded the counter, she energetically went into the store aisles and quickley located the item for me. She took this challenge on as her mission to take care of a customer, despite the fact that this took here away from her station. By the way, it was exactly where she thought it was (previously, I walked right by it!). Actions such as those of Katie are what keep me coming back to this store. read more

I ordered my little cousin's 13th birthday cake here and they did it exactly how I wanted to. I went up there to order and show them pictures and also sent them pictures as well so they could have it. Buyer Beware! This review is for the Live Oak Street, Dallas, TX location only. Be careful when shopping at this location. The prices advertised often do not match what you pay at the registrer. To get many of the sale prices you have to download the Tom Thumb app and "clip" a coupon for an item. Be careful and not the posted price of the item with the clipped coupon. Even after clipping the coupon, the price is still higer at the register. Or sometimes you try and clip a coupon the system will not let you. When either of things happen, I have to ask for an override. This has me looking poor and embarrassed Infront of other shoppers as I have to get price adjustment. And that is after you find someone who can do the override who will not look at you like you are being a inconvenience to them. Another thing, which is typical with most retailers, is Tom Thumb will raise the price of an item and then offer a coupon to lower the price. But the lowered price was the original price without a coupon. For example, over the summer their bowl of cut watermelon was $5. The last time I looked, about a week ago, it had gone up to $6 a bowl. But if you clipped a coupon, you could get it for $5. Shameful Also the bowl is always full of the hard, flavorless pieces of rind and not the soft inner most part of the melon. For some reason the in-house baker 7 grain bread is flat. I do not know of any other way to put this but the bread that is baked in the bakery is flat as a sheet of paper. And for the price they charge it is on worth it. read more

Find it a shame that as much as I love coming to this store due to convenience and cleanliness, I am starting to feel as though I need to take my money and business elsewhere. There's numerous workers here that are extremely rude and angry at the world for whatever reason and yet choose to take it out on customers. Today I was at the cash register with an employee that's apparently named "Beyonce", she threw my groceries across the belt once she scanned them, didn't take any extra care of my eggs (4 of them were broken once I checked) and couldn't speak to let me know when to pay or how much it was. Once throwing my groceries, she scrunched up the receipt and handed to me, still without saying anything. I'm considering going to the local target instead due to instances like today. This is an excellent new shiny grocery store that's convenient for all of us downtown/Deep Ellum dwellers. They have all the usual stuff a grocery store has. Pharmacy, deli, meats, wines, produce, breads, etc etc. There's also a Starbucks! Parking is free in the garage off Texas Street and there is a nice patio to enjoy some eats or drinks after you shop. read more

I've bought fresh produce from this location three times already where I get home & im ready to start cooking & when I open the bag or container the produce is in, to my surprise they're not usable. Its happen with potatoes being really green, molded corn, or molded cabbage. They must not FIFO their produce. read more

Was looking forward to this amazing neighborhood location. However i am extremely disappointed on the way they've handled themselves with me using the Drive Up& Go service! Was given the wrong items, went in store to return told me they couldn't return and would be issued a refund for missing items and the items that were given that were messed up. But, all I've received is no help and now being told to go back to the store with my receipt a receipt i was never given. Would not recommend service it's extremely unorganized and no one seems to be able to help. read more

One star rating for this particular experience but not in general! We were trying to self check out and had the manager special discount on meats. The attendant Desiree came to help us and the system wasn't accepting her code. Her supervisor, Antonio was near by and she asked him for help. He came over clearly flustered and proceeded to berate her versus teach her the proper way to enter the code. We get those rung up and then have an issue with some artichokes. Desiree comes back over and due to a bug in the system, has to call Antonio back over. We apologized to her. This time he was no help. His attitude was more so " well I guess you're not buying them then." Than that of management standards which would uphold highest customer service standards. Desiree went above and beyond to help us. Antonio had no right to speak to her the way he did. Not in front of customers, and not even if behind closed doors. Instead of quietly letting her know the cashier yelled it out loudly. Pretty sure this cashier enjoyed embarrassing the woman. Not god customer service. Lots of people heard. Definite price gouging. Most prices are at least $1 to $4 more than other stores, it really adds up. For the store to do this because it is close to downtown is an insult. Cannot wait till they have competition. It would be more okay if the quality was higher. But it is the standard low to average Albertson grocery store fare, including regularly bruised up/rotten fruit, several packages of chicken that were as old a week past their sell by date, bread advertised as bakery items when they contain fillers and ammonia by products. A clean and large decor doesn't make up for these basic food quality standards. I wouldn't recommend unless you need an item in an emergency. read more

I have been shopping here since they opened and initially enjoyed the location, the underground parking and courtesy of the staff however something has changed in recent weeks with this store. I am very disgruntled in that I have been unable to get a copy of a receipt from shopping at the store a couple of weeks ago. The checkout machine failed to produce a receipt and when I asked for assistance the machine just shut down and the young white lady promised she would produce one have it at customer service under my name. I stopped by this week and everyone was clueless. The took my name again and phone number. It's been several days and I still haven't heard from them. Sounds petty but I would like a copy of the receipt because I certain that sale items that I purchased were charged for the full price. I wonder if this is a scam, I don't have a copy of my receipt to prove they overcharged me. How convenient for them. I think I am done with Tom Thumb, I think they are corrupt and can't be trusted. read more
