Hayden the night manager @ Tom Thumb location 2755 North Collins in Arlington, TX I am appalled beyond reproach at your lack of excellent customer service and the breakdown of your ability to handle a delicate yet simple situation. My objective was to partner with you to resolve an issue with your staff. Instead, you decided to support an integrity issue with one of your subordinates. When I asked you for the less than a gentleman's name you became defensive and falsely informed me that you didn't know the individuals name working in the meat department that ended our shared phone call prematurely and intentionally. You were given all the details and in fact I walked back to the meat department with you by my side. Honestly all I wanted was an apology and for you to take responsibility on behalf of your dishonest employee. Instead you left me wondering why I even patronize Tom Thumb to began with. Your entire staff needs sensitivity and diversity training. In fact, your staff needs to be more diverse. There has been issues before, but this one tops it all. I took the liberty of leaving a survey detailing this unfortunate occurrence and reported the issue to corporate after waiting on the phone for what seemed like an eternity. We are supposed to be in this together. Your staff doesn't engage with people of color. Your staff doesn't say hello upon entry. Your staff lacks the confidence to deal with situations such as the one outlined above. This location and the lack luster gentleman working in the meat department today @ 9:27 CST, which is the time the original call with the unknown individual in the meat department answered my phone call. If you all have a way to review the phone call it will be quite clear that your employee is dishonest. I am shocked and appalled by how I was treated. Hayden I still feel there is hope for you provided with additional training and coaching. What I sensed is that you were attempting to give your subordinate the benefit of the doubt. What you did was validate his dishonesty while making me feel very defenseless and uncomfortable. Tom Thumb is this how you treat all customers? Hayden when you said that I was defensive when I merely asked for the unknown gentleman's name, you actually escalated the situation vs mitigating the scenario. In addition, when I brought it to your attention in a calm yet assertive tone you became defensive, because I said that as a manager you should know who is on duty and the names of all staff members. My statement wasn't to make you feel indifferent. In fact, I liked how you greeted me initially. When we got to the meat department your resolve shifted in an unprofessional manner. I am greatly disappointed, because you actually seem like a decent individual. It is very unfortunate that I even have to list your name, because that's the only name I was provided.. The original issue lies with the unknown individual working in the meat department @ 9:27 on 12-1-2020. This unknown individual blatantly lied and stated I yelled at him over the phone when I asked a simple question that he refused to answer for whatever reason. Tom Thumb you were the store that was an example for other groceries to live up to. In fact, when I was 15 this was my first job.. Now I shop here. I am now in question on if you all deserve to do business with people of color or anyone else for that matter. A simple apology and ownership would have eliminated this review that I am now taking the time to write. I AM APPALLED Tom Thumb by the behavior displayed by one of your managers and his subordinate. There was a lady at check out that was pleasant and I appreciate that much from here. She gave me the information I needed to escalate this issue to the area manager. I am disappointed to say the very least. I am offended as a educated black man that frequents this location primarily, because it is in close proximity to my home in Viridian. I love this Tom Thumb, the produce is great and it's super organized. The employees are nice and there's a Starbucks inside. They have a really good selection of sandwiches and soups that can be bought for a quick lunch. The only problem I have is when I come here before work (probably around 7am) there is one register open and the morning shift register workers tend to be really slow.. but super friendly. But honestly I'm stopping in here to pick something up real fast, I do not need you to be holding a conversation with every person in line and then looking at the receipt for my name to tell me to have a good day. The only improvement I think they can make to this store is for self-checkout for people like me in a rush. If I wasn't in a rush to get to work after picking something up I wouldn't mind what they do. Oh well, I really do like this Tom Thumb. read more

I'm truly a fan of this store because the cashiers know us and the items we need are always in stock. Maybe paying the higher price isn't so bad all things considered. Some of the times we go, we don't see the usual team members working and I think it affects how I react to them. We rarely go to the deli but the other night decided to get some deli meat and just felt like the guy was ready to close down and didn't want to help us. On the other hand, we've gotten nothing but amazing service from the butcher/meat section. The lady there is wonderful, although I do not know her name. Behind the counter you can always find someone standing there working and willing to help simultaneously. I find that at other places such as Kroger or Albertsons, the person almost pretends they don't see you because they are busy. While other places such as Walmart or Target do not seem to have meat workers available to help unless they are stocking. Aside from great meat quality, their fresh produce, floral and in-store Starbucks also sell the place to me. I figure groceries are going to be about the same everywhere, it's the price that folks really pay attention to. If you want the cheapest price with the largest selection, go to a Walmart Superstore. If you want higher quality, a "just enough" selection and friendly employees always willing to help you when you look like you need it - just go to Tom Thumb. It doesn't hurt that this store is within walking distance from my house! read more

I will NEVER shop at Tom Thumb again!!! My Dad and I went to get groceries today and last thing was milk. Walk up to the coolers and people are standing around because all the milk is gone.. I look back behind the shelves and there are crates of milk. My Dad went to ask if they could give all of us milk and they reply...no its for tomorrows customers.... Really you are telling paying customers they can't have milk when we all might be stuck inside for 72 hours!!! I understand there are policies and procedures but there is an ice storm and you have milk but won't sell it?!! What a Horrible company!!!! read more

I love Tom Thumb. They have the best deli and bakery of all the regular grocery stores. Everyone had reward cards of course buy I get personalized deals based on my shopping habits and currently 4x David on had points. I'm sad they may bee selling to Albertsons I actually like a lot of the Safeway brand products. read more

This location is slightly farther away from me than the Kroger on Lamar is and I don't go in as often because the prices are quite a bit higher, but I do love their occasional $5 cat litter sales and their bakery. The overall store is cleaner and more attractive, though, and they are much better at keeping things in stock than Kroger has been lately so I think I'll be shopping there more often. My son also loves that they have more of those "racecar" carts for kids so that's definitely a plus. They also made an awesome LA Clippers cake for his school birthday party and a SpongeBob one for his party at home. read more

I would give Tom Thumb more stars if they were not so darned overpriced. My husband and I like the bakery and flower dept here. They have good quality and friendly service. I try and not do all of our grocery shopping here though. Things like soda are a good couple dollars more than Kroger or Walmart. When it comes to here and whole foods I go in for specific items. They do have a program where you can get money off at their gas station when you shop there. We tried it but we did not buy enough grocery stuff to make it worth it. read more

Great produce and cheap prices. Love their weekly specials! Tried their soup and sandwich from their cafe and it did not disappoint. This store is in a good location and I have never had any problems finding the items I need. They have a great beer and wine selection. I also like all the flowers and fresh breads. This is great tom thumb location fruits & vegetables are always fresh. The brads are made hot every morning & cashiers are as friendly as you can get. Only took one star off because sometimes there are long lines at the register & not enough cashiers to ease it. read more

The worst customer service and very unprofessional. I called this place to inquire about car registration renewals. The lady who answered was very short and after she answered the question she simply said "thank you" and was fixing to hang up the phone. I had a couple more questions and she did the same thing after answering each. There's also a different occasion of bad customer service. I went to the bakery a couple of years back to inquire about birthday cakes. Even thought they saw I was standing there, they never acknowledged me. I've never ordered a cake from a bakery before, I always buy them pre-made so I didn't know how that worked... They laughed in my face when I told them I needed it same day. They were rude when I asked them if I could just buy the cake figurines to top an already made cake. I left with nothing and with a bitter taste in my mouth. I love, love the delivery service. I don't drive anymore do to vision problems so this has been a God send. My orders have limited subs (you can request in personal messages how you would like your food substituted), you're able to use e-coupons, Just for U savings and plus your reward cards. The delivery personnel are always so polite, happy and so very nice. They help you anyway they can with your order. I really appreciate this service and would recommend it without hesitation. Oh, I forgot to mention you can save on your delivery fee by picking different time options. I have a small order today so I picked an option where I save $6.00 making the delivery fee only $3.95, a really great deal. And I still get the great attitude from the drivers- win-win! read more

Great service at the pharmacy and store. Pharmacy is not the closest to my house, but will drive past others to get the care and service from Henry, Tiffany, Evelyn and Le. Dr. recently sent incorrect directions for a script and they fixed it after confirming with him. They make sure you really get what you need and do it in a timely and friendly manner. Pretty happy with this Tom Thumb. I've only been coming here a year and a half or so. The one really annoying thing to me is how few plastic produce bags they have available. I'm always walking around with zucchini or cauliflower in my hand unable to find a bag. They keep them stocked by prepackaged blackberries and raspberries but you go to the unpackaged vegetables and no where to be seen. Or the one they have there is always out. So annoying read more

My wife and I have lived in Arlington for four years, and although Tom Thumb is not our o-to place for all of our groceries, we have frequented this store plenty. I have always been impressed by their cleanliness, service, beer selection, their wi-fi, RedBox availability, and many other things. This evening my wife and I were in there looking for matzo (unleavened bread) for a communion service at my church for good Friday tomorrow. We were having trouble and one of the store's associates, Katie U., spotted my wife and I searching. She helped us look in a few different places for the matzo, but we were still not able to find it. My wife and I were walking out of the store without any luck of having found the matzo. Katie all of the sudden calls to us as we're leaving and tells us that she found it.
