These guys came through big time for me Not long ago just after the rains, I walked out one morning to find the large tree once standing, was now leaning on my house, lounging as if it was the arm of a comfortable sofa. They usually provide a reasonably priced quote within one or two days, along with a time frame of when they can complete the job. Before they begin, they protect all the windows and move all patio furniture, grills and chairs. After they are done, they blow the areas rake or sweep all the leaves. During my last Service, they even cleaned the leafs in our gutters and skimmed our pool. And they always return everything in the original spot they found it . I closed escrow on a house with two huge ancient oak trees that hadn't been trimmed in years. My realtor recommended Tom Day and I couldn't be happier with the result. I had some unwanted palm trees and a big bush of an oak tree that needed a beauty treatment. I decided to hire Tom Day Tree Service because 1) Johnny is so knowledgeable and experienced about trees and lovely to chat with, and 2) Their cost quote was exactly what I was hoping for, and 3) They have been in the tree business since forever. First, the palm trees were removed. It was important to me that there be no stump or any evidence that those were there. Wish granted, not even a ghost remains. Second, the oak tree is a wonderful home and source of food to many animals. But it looked like a big blob. Thanks to the Tom Day artisans, it is now a very gracefully shaped work of art. Wow! I am frequently going outside to just stand and look at it. So beautiful. The Tom Day team was extremely careful of all my plants and objects. For example, when they were ready to grind stumps, they placed a large barrier in front of my windows so nothing would hit them or affect the home air quality. They did this sort of proactive protection constantly with every phase and location. Where I asked, they were careful to rope-lower heavy stumps rather than drop them, nice! I also appreciated the team's complete attention to safety. I worry about people doing potentially dangerous jobs, but after watching the team for 30 minutes, I had no worries at all. And they coordinated they work beautifully. The clean up amazed me. They left the front and back yards much tidier than when they arrived. Johnny gave us a good quote on trimming a large pine tree and a very invasive fern growing in our backyard. He promised the tree would not be butchered and the roots for the fern would be dealt with. Neither happened. The tree was cut back more severely than I anticipated and they just cleared the fern which will most likely grow back. When the job was finished, Johnny was no where to be seen and a worker named Abraham just showed up looking for payment. I went in the backyard to check things out and found the lock to the back gate was missing. Turns out they tossed it aside, at least it wasn't thrown away! It was clear they just wanted to leave as Abraham was reluctant to help me completely close the heavy gate. Will not use this service again! read more

The man may do an adequate (though very expensive) job of tree trimming, but his manners are incredibly rude. I asked fifteen years ago for his estimate to thin our large pine trees. He quoted a number much higher than the firm we later decided to use, and have used since. He then berated me for having a gate which was too narrow to accommodate his equipment (somehow our guy has managed just fine with it?) And then, unprovoked, I got a lecture on politics. The Jan 21st windstorm brought down both of our trees and unfortunately, they also damaged our neighbor's property. Today I glanced out the windows and found Mr. Day walking around our backyard among piles of debris, smoking a cigar. I realize that he may need access for our neighbor's property, but certainly it's not too much to ask for a knock on our door before strolling around on our property? We are living in a destruction zone, our privacy is compromised and we're under a lot of stress. We don't need someone flicking ashes into combustible material. When I asked him to please not smoke in my yard, he just stared at me. I told him that our family has asthma and he continued to stare at me, saying nothing. As I closed my back door, he started puffing again. Then he sauntered back to his truck, which was blocking our back driveway, and upon which is emblazoned "Democrats are destroying America." In the back of the truck are cages housing German shepherds, which explains the alarming barking I'd heard before discovering Mr. Day in our yard. I was close to calling the police to report his trespassing, but my husband talked me out of it. As a note, I am not a Democrat. I have no party preference. However, Mr. Day's behavior and messaging are very unprofessional, if not downright threatening. It doesn't matter how well he trims trees if he treats polite requests and private property with such disregard. Driving around with his incendiary message and barking dogs only sows hurtful seeds of discord. Our world doesn't need that kind of trouble right now. read more

This is the second time I have called Tom Day for help. The first time I used him to remove a large tree in my backyard. He gave me a fair price removed the tree and the stump. Johnny his foreman made sure everything was raked up and taken care of before they left. I had a major problem a few weeks ago and lost some large limbs off of some Pine Trees at another property in Moreno Valley. Eleven huge trees one giant mess! I called Tom and he came out and gave me an estimate and we made a deal. One tree had to be removed the others could be trimmed and saved. It took two full days but the end result was well worth the price. Tom and his crew did a great job! They removed one huge tree and trimmed the others. Tom may not be the cheapest guy in town but he is the best! Honest reliable, properly licensed, properly insured and very concerned about treating each customer like family. My HOA has used this company for years to come out once a year and take care of our many trees. We pay him thousands of dollars a year to do this. When he came the beginning of this year, his crew arrived and he showed up in his own personal truck to go over what needed to be done with them which he parked in front of my house. I was out walking the neighborhood with a friend and when I saw the truck parked in front of my house that had "Democrats have ruined this country" PAINTED on the door of his truck, I flipped. What kind of arrogant jerk shows up in a neighborhood that are his CUSTOMERS and insults half the people who live there???
