I post three pictures here - the look/design I asked for (pale grey/cream base with light brown accents), the product of Alfredo's first attempt (uneven light and dark grey), and last, the result of Alfredo's second attempt (orange, dark brown, and grey). When asked, Alfredo had no explanation. I contacted the firm's front office (Katrina), and after some wrangling, she agreed to provide partial reimbursement (of the $2,900 that I had paid them) by a specified date. To date, I have not received any payment from the firm. Indeed, they are no longer accepting/returning my calls. I am disappointed by the firm - and frustrated that I placed my trust and faith in the wrong people.

The latest are the elevators in the 2191 Mountain View Road, Stafford, VA 22554 apartment building where one elevator has been "out of service" for over a week beginning December 20, 2025 and then on Christmas Eve the second elevator broke down. Leaving everyone who is unable to get around except by wheelchair or walker stranded on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. Many have severe medical problems where they have no option but to take the elevators. Others have dogs that need to relieve themselves and are forced to take the stairs which are located at the ends of each hallway. When I was there a few hours ago I witnessed some senior citizens walking up to the 4th floor with groceries. The owners are clearly in an ADA non-compliance and their lack of communication by texting and/or emailing the occupants of this building is totally irresponsible. If you are thinking of moving here or moving your parent here, think twice. Until they address their non-compliance issues, I would seriously reconsider.

(We wanted the crew from the PBS series This Old House but they were not available.) After having several reputable local contracting firms provide estimates we settled upon Hand Construction. This decision was based upon what seemed to be a fair price, the quality of their work as we had observed at several sites in Fredericksburg, and the infectious enthusiasm of the man who was to be our point of contact and site manager, Jeff F. We hit the jackpot. Once we signed the contract, skilled and friendly craftsman of every variety began showing up and diligently setting to work, all carefully orchestrated along with the deliveries of material by Jeff. He closely managed the subcontractors and directly supervised much of the work. He visited our work site every day at least once without fail; and if we had a question or concern he was relentless in getting it resolved. We made changes to the scope of work and these were accommodated without issue. The project proceeded smoothly from start to finish with hardly a glitch. We were completely satisfied with the quality of the work which was completed on time and within budget. After six months, when one of the installed floors developed a slight problem, we contacted Jeff and he had the subcontractor on site that very day with the fix completed within a week. We are in no doubt as to whom we will call in future should we have more work. On the basis of our experience I cannot recommend Hand Construction too highly.
