The chicken is delicious and they make some really impressive sushi rolls and ramen bowls. The only reason I don't give them 5stars is because the steak is always bland. I ordered pickup from Tokyo. I have eaten inside, and it was always a pleasant experience besides the chicken being tough. I picked up the food, and I took it home. When I finally took a look, they gave me hibachi instead of teriyaki I'd asked for. The chicken was just as tough as usual, and it was pricey for what it was! This is the worst Japanese Restaurant I have ever been to! 1. Dirty with boxes pilled up in the dining room. 2. Waitress was coughing repeatedly. 3. Waitress was eating and come to my table with food visibly on her hands. 4. I ordered at 2:30, lunch menu said until 3, the waitress brought the check and the surprise it was double the lunch price...she changed me for dinner. 5. Food salad they brought was NOT fresh, over piled with ginger sauce, so you wouldn't see how wilted the lettuce was. 6. I asked for food to go. Then just paid for it and left it there. While in the area for business and a desire to try out the restaurant I decided to stop in to try a bite for dinner. Upon walking in the overall atmosphere felt a little less than desirable, but in Calhoun, GA and a lack non-chain restaurants in the area I figured I would stay. Unfortunately, the restaurant does not offer adult beverages so that was a little disappointing and settled for water with my meal. I ordered the Sashimi which came with soup and a salad. The soup was typical to what you would find and overall had a great flavor. The ginger salad was definitely not for my personal taste and I was a little disappointed. Overall the sashimi portions were generous which provided overall value to the meal; however, the quality of the sashimi tasted similar to the quality one might expect from a grocery store. Overall, if you have a craving for sashimi and have a dislike for chain restaurants it might be worth a visit for the overall portion size; however, for me personally I don't believe I will be a return patron while in the area on business. From a recommendation standpoint I would have to say decrease the portion size regarding the thickness of the sashimi slices and purchase a higher quality of raw goods from a distribution channel. The thinner cuts would allow for a more enjoyable bite that would not have to be cut in half to be enjoyable and the increased in quality would definitely draw in more patrons and potentially allow for slightly higher prices and offer a competitive advantage in the market share. Offering adult beverages, such as saki, would definitely be a definite plus as well. Lastly, discard the poster board style signs hanging from the ceiling which and clutter around the sushi bar area. These distractions in my opinion bring down the overall ascetic and make the restaurant feel lower budget. With all of that said, I do realize the area is not in a major city and the business strategy might be working, but it's not really for me personally during my most recent trip. I will be interested to see updated reviews upon my next visit and might revisit if notable improvements are made on my next trip to the area. read more

The dining room looked like is not maintained, it has not been decorated or updated in the last 10 years, it needs a new layer of fresh paint and perhaps better sunlight to dtart with. Also, i felt like the host was rushing me to order. She pushed for me to make a decision and she was quite loud, sarcastic and short with us. Not very attentive or sensitive towards special requests or allergies... so remeber no special orders. Honestly, I felt the prices were way to expensive for a Saturday lunch. I order the chicken teriyaki without vegetables so just rice and chicken no vegetables. The chicken was in my opinion dry and bland, looked boiled and with teriaky sauce over it. The sauce tasted like a cheap store brought sauce. And the chicken tasted like a dry tasteless piece of frozen protein. The rice was also bland and plain. The highlight of the meal was the salad with the ginger dressing. It was quite fresh and 5he dressing salty but tasty. The miso soup was only like 4 oz so again a very small portion but it was ok. I wish i didn't have to write this disappointing but i must write it like i experienced it. read more

I have been coming here for such a long time, i think they got a new cook and is nothing compared to the previous cook. I always get chicken and shrimp soba with no mushroom. The chicken has been very dry everytime i come or it's not cooked all the way because now they just throw big chunks of chicken on the plate. I would always order to go and it would be a square plate enough for two people and now they changed it to a smaller rectangle plate for the same price. was really bummed because i pay almost 15$ for such a small portion. read more

We went this past Sunday for Sushi and other food and were fairly impressed with it for Sushi in Calhoun Ga. I have had better sushi, and really the ultimate spider roll should have been fried softshell crab with other fish (don't remember exactly) and what we got we got had shrimp tempura instead, and no tuna or other on top as advertised. Also the plates supposedly come with a california roll, and did not. No biggie we had a ton of food at a decent price and it was pretty good. The fried rice was pretty plain, but the ginger salad and miso soup was decent.. I tipped 20% but when I looked at my bank online I saw those folks had figured what the heck they celebrate Christmas here in the US and won't mind if I add an addition $20.00 to my tip.. Calhoun is no longer a sushi-forsaken town, all thanks to this place. I'm giving it 4 stars simply for its bravery. I was surprised at the interior of the restaurant. It sits in a hideously plain building, but the lighting and decor inside are just right for this kind of establishment: modern light shades through which colored light bulbs shine and classic stone on the walls that reminded me of a wall in a rustic garden. Tokyo had two of my favorite things: jasmine tea (on the menu) and automatic paper towel dispensers (in the bathroom). I was satisfied with the speed of the service, and dirty dishes didn't stay on my table long. However, the server just wasn't nice...at all, really. She was very brusque, simply demanding, "You know what you want?" instead of actually greeting me after I sat. I ordered shumai, the steamed shrimp dumplings. I've had better, but I was happy just to see them on the menu somewhere in Calhoun. For my entree, I asked the server for her suggestion. To her credit, she pointed out something I'm sure most southerners would appreciate: fried sushi. Unfortunately, that's not what I like, but I tried it anyway on her recommendation. I got the dynamite roll. Ironically, it wasn't spicy at all. It contained tuna, salmon, white tuna, avocado, and green onion, and the roll was topped with three mysterious sauces and shredded crab meat. (I was especially appreciative of the crab meat.) I shouldn't have ordered a fried roll, knowing I wouldn't like it. After eating the first two pieces, I picked the fried part off like a child. I really enjoy raw meat, so I think I'll try something else the next time I go. I can't justify abandoning this place (even though the less-than-cordial service might encourage me to do so) simply because Japanese food is a rarity in Calhoun. I've tried Tokyo Steakhouse a number of times, and I have always found my experience to be lacking in some aspect. My first few visits, I tried cooked dishes (like steak with fried rice and the tempura plate). Meat portions were ALWAYS small for the price tag, and the flavors were nothing to rave about. Unfortunately, I was craving a hand roll while in Calhoun this week, and I decided to give the Tokyo Steakhouse sushi bar a chance. Not only was my green dragon roll smothered in multiple sauces, but I later found out that the ingredients were FAR from fresh. Let's just say that I spent most of the following morning in my bathroom, re-experiencing my terrible dinner. My mom and I went to this restaurant for lunch. I ordered the chicken & beef tips, and my mom ordered the shrimp & veggies. After we ordered, the waitress brought us soup. The soup wasn't really great. It was kinda watered down. When we got our food, the waitress brought my mom chicken & veggies, instead of shrimp & veggies. My mom told her that she brought the wrong dish, but the waitress refused to bring her what she ordered. She told my mom that she could "add-on" shrimp to her meal, but my mom settled for the dish that was given. Overall, the food was good, but the service was horrible.
