Boyfriend and I are from Florida, so finding decent sushi in Georgia seemed impossible. A local recommended this spot so we made the trip! Sushi options were fairly decent, place was quiet and clean. I didn't realize before arrival they have an actual hibachi cooking/seating area! Our waitress was so polite she even made my boyfriend a birthday dessert! Bill was very expensive though, but normal for specialties rolls of sushi. Did not feel gross after. read more

Recently moved to the area and I will say Ellijay is definitely lacking in ethnic cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Japanese hibachi restaurant in East Ellijay. I ordered take out and upon arriving to the restaurant I was immediately turned off by how dirty it was inside. The interior was dingy, dark and the carpet seemed old and everything just seemed unclean. I was directed to the back bar to pick up my order. While I was waiting I heard someone in the back kitchen sneeze. Bleh that made me loose my appetite. I had no idea if that person sneezed in my food. I got the chicken hibachi meal and it was good, although pricey for what it is. So I give 3 stars because the food tasted good, but the place needs a deep cleaning. read more

I often eat at Okinawa in Ellijay, Ga when I crave sushi. My go to order normally consists of their Edamame, a Crab Sunomono salad, a sushi roll and a Sappora. I have never been disappointed and for the most part, I find the food very good. The staff is courteous and the prices are reasonable. It is not the best sushi you will ever eat but it is consistent and a nice change when you are not fancying Mexican, burgers, pizza or Longhorns. If sushi is not your "roll", their hibachi plates are good too. read more

Went Saturday approx. 4pm, folks on the Hibachi side no one on the sushi side so service was fast & pleasant. Decor - nothing special, high back booths can not see the sushi being made. Ordered Tuna Tataki for an app - previously (a few years back) it came on a platter, cut to edible size with some sea weed. Now they serve it in a martini glass with too big of pieces that has to be placed on a plate & cut in half. For my entree 2 chef made rolls one tuna & one crab, these were cone shaped & also in a martini glass. Extremely disappointing - seaweed wrap was so tough as to be inedible, so took them apart to get at the rice & crab in the first, Tuna in the second was cut in lengths with the grain - folks may not realize there are tendons & unless it's cut cross grain you must work to bite through it. Attempt to remove the rice to eat was unsuccessful like it was glued to the seaweed almost like these "cones" were made way in advance. Will not be back read more

I will be driving out of town from here on out to get Japanese. Okinawa keeps raising their prices, locals won't eat here for these prices. No other Japanese restaurants charge for fried rice. They also do not have updated prices on here. It is now $2.50 for fried rice and they only charge dinner prices on Sunday. Even when there is no one in the restaurant. Charged $25 for one meal, portion sizes were of lunch quality but at Dinner price. read more

Great atmosphere and wonderful service, Brenden was my server, 5 STARS!! The decor is solid but they have more wooden accents since we are in north Georgia where vacation cabins abound in the area. Since this is Tuesday Special Sushi day, my server brought out a custom menu with $1 per piece sushi specials, $3.25 appetizers, and $3.95 full roll specials. Brenden described in detail which ones he recommended and the famous "Fuji mountain" that is $12.95 and not listed on the menu!! It was CRAZY good!! I ordered FIVE of the $3.95 rolls based on his recommendations!! I plan on coming back here often and bringing my friends too!! Highly recommend for sushi not just in Elijay, but anywhere within 50 miles!! Don't forget to ask for Brenden, he's the man!! read more

Recently ate at restaurant and had excellent experience. Hibachi chef was very good even after watching the little show for more than 50 times. Prepared food was excellent. Service was adequate but waited long time for refills and reordering of beverages. Main issue centered around payment. Credit card was swiped twice and when asked following day to return the money, it took business 6 days to finally fix their problem. Because of the way business handled their issue with credit card, which they stated has been problem for other customers as well, I will not return and advise others to beware if you eat here and suggest you go to different restaurants. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Okinawa. Love being the hibachi chefs are always super friendly and interactive. The food is great, I usually get the sushi special and my husband gets steak and chicken hibachi. However, on off days there is definitely a quality difference in food The hate being the servers there are so inattentive that I'm usually the one grabbing my own silverware, chopsticks and straws. Or I'm calling out to the hostess for drink refills. This hasn't been a one time problem either and I usually go monthly. I'm glad they upgraded the bathrooms and made the overall place a lot cleaner, but for me to put 5 stars they need to either get more servers or retrain the ones they already have to do better service. read more

So... I'm unsure how to write this review as I'm SO ABSOLUTELY TORN! I have not ate here since February or so, and here is why... EVERY time I eat here, regardless of what I order, I leave with a horrible migraine. Don't get me wrong, the service is wonderful! And the food is incredibly DELICIOUS!!! Absolutely love the sushi(!) and I appreciate that their are mixed veggies, spring rolls, and other vegetarian and vegan options. The portion sizes are great! And often I even have some leftover to take with me and enjoy with another meal. The atmosphere is wonderful; I love the water fountain feature as you walk in - very nice touch. And there are beautiful details throughout as well that give a very beautiful tranquility as you're dining. I appreciate the low lighting as well. But I always, always, have a horrible migraine hit before I even walk out, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I hope to be trying something from here again soon, and hope to be able to leave a better review, as this is an exceptional quality of food, and a wonderful establishment. If any suggestions from the owner, or any who work here, please let me know! Thank you! read more

I ordered Blackened salmon with couscous. It was good, cooked properly, but when I tasted my sisters trout, I wished I had ordered it. Panko crusted with collard greens. It was the best. Crispy on the outside, tender on inside and not a real fishy taste. All had a bit of a balsamic juices had seeped into all from the collard greens, which was good but prefer more savory flavors. But enjoyed it immensely. The Roasted chicken was just okay with mashed potatoes. But the best thing of the evening was the apple bread pudding with salted Carmel Ice Cream (Not pictured). The idea of a steak took hold of me and I convinced my partner in crime that the Longhorn I had been to elsewhere delivered a very good steak. We were greeted with a honey and dear which was fine and drinks arrived quickly. As I said we were hungry and ordered immediately - a rare feat for me by the way. Then we waited ..and waited. The salads arrived after the dinner was served. By then we were pretty annoyed and it got worse. Our steaks were problematic - mine was rare and thick as ordered. My boyfriend's medium rare steak was a thin piece of meat too overcooked to be called well done. Our waitress arrived, viewed the overdone steak, remarked "bad on them" when she didn't see our salads and left. We grabbed another server and him hunt down the manager. He agreed the steak was not what was ordered. He did offer to fire up another but we explained we were in a rush now and had to head out to tend to our dogs. He offered to comp our meals since either of us ate them and just have us pay for our drinks. We agreed and stressed we really needed the bill - we needed to leave. We did leave after 15 minutes when we still had no bill and the waitstaff were nowhere to be found (on a busy Saturday night). Just save yourself from a really poorly managed restaurant and go elsewhere.

This use to be the best place in town. Now they are the worse. Waiter was very very rude and got every one of our orders wrong. When I asked for management he made excuses just like the last couple times I have been there. New staff, short staffed, etc etc. NOT my problem. He said he would give me a large discount for my trouble how ever i got the bill which included 3 items that I never got 1 of which I did not even order. I had to ask for them to be removed once again and after he did he made a point to show me he removed the items I never got and gave me a 6.00 credit. I have been going here for years but I am done this last visit was enough. People say it's the best in Ellijay cause it's the only in Ellijay but I will drive else where now. read more

My husband and I love the sushi. The caterpillar roll is well presented -- absolutely beautiful -- what you'd expect to be served in Buckhead. The sushi is always fresh. The remodeled bar (not the sushi bar) is trendy; you can sit at the counter or get cozy on the black leather couch and chair. The only thing that keeps me from eating the Hibachi is the oil (of whatever it is) used excessively on the food. It is used in the fried rice as well. I don't like the taste or texture of it. It does not agree with my stomach. I wish they'd use something more palatable. read more

Chose not to eat at the grill because we were in a hurry. So we sat at a table in the bar area... Big mistake! Food was not fresh... It was cold and portion was small. I brought it to their attention she took it back to exchange for (I thought) a fresh hot plate of food. Instead what I got was same plate of food microwaved. Will never waste my time or money on this place again. Prices are deceiving and place is run down and has a smell. If you sit at grill I would think that the food would be better but I will never know. read more

I pass through the I‑75 Exit 315…read morearea every two to three weeks on my way back to the Hankook Tire and LG Chem plants in Clarksville, TN. Because the area is quite rural, I never imagined there would be a Korean restaurant nearby. That changed when an acquaintance mentioned this place, so a few weekends later we decided to stop by on our way back to Suwanee. When we walked in, the restaurant had only a few tables, and the interior decor showed its age -- but that didn't matter to me. I was simply hoping the food would be as good as my acquaintance claimed. We were greeted by the owner, who was courteous and friendly, and handed a one‑page menu: Korean dishes on one side and Chinese dishes on the other. As a Korean, I naturally gravitated toward the Korean side. The selection was limited to about 20 items, but All the dishes were classic Korean comfort food. We ordered 돼지국밥 Dwaeji‑gukbap (Korean pork soup with rice), one of my favorite dishes, and 해물파전 Haemul‑pajeon (seafood and green onion pancake). Before the main dishes arrived, the server brought out the side dishes - and wow. They were exceptional. They looked and tasted like the kind of special banchan your grandmother would prepare just for you. These were not the typical side dishes you find at most Korean restaurants. A few minutes later, our main dishes arrived - and again, wow. The presentation, aroma, and flavor were all impressive. The food tasted authentic, homemade, and prepared with genuine care. The broth was genuinely authentic, rich, and deeply comforting - the kind of flavor you can only experience in a traditional outdoor market back in Korea. The choice of pork cuts was perfect, tender, and full of depth. And from that moment, I was hooked. Since then, whenever I commute between Georgia and Tennessee - whether heading to work or returning home - I make it a point to stop by this restaurant. It has become a reliable, heartwarming part of my travel routine.
