Boyfriend and I are from Florida, so finding decent sushi in Georgia seemed impossible. A local recommended this spot so we made the trip! Sushi options were fairly decent, place was quiet and clean. I didn't realize before arrival they have an actual hibachi cooking/seating area! Our waitress was so polite she even made my boyfriend a birthday dessert! Recently moved to the area and I will say Ellijay is definitely lacking in ethnic cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Japanese hibachi restaurant in East Ellijay. I ordered take out and upon arriving to the restaurant I was immediately turned off by how dirty it was inside. The interior was dingy, dark and the carpet seemed old and everything just seemed unclean. I was directed to the back bar to pick up my order. While I was waiting I heard someone in the back kitchen sneeze. Bleh that made me loose my appetite. I had no idea if that person sneezed in my food. I got the chicken hibachi meal and it was good, although pricey for what it is. So I give 3 stars because the food tasted good, but the place needs a deep cleaning. read more

I often eat at Okinawa in Ellijay, Ga when I crave sushi. My go to order normally consists of their Edamame, a Crab Sunomono salad, a sushi roll and a Sappora. I have never been disappointed and for the most part, I find the food very good. The staff is courteous and the prices are reasonable. It is not the best sushi you will ever eat but it is consistent and a nice change when you are not fancying Mexican, burgers, pizza or Longhorns. If sushi is not your "roll", their hibachi plates are good too. read more

Went Saturday approx. 4pm, folks on the Hibachi side no one on the sushi side so service was fast & pleasant. Decor - nothing special, high back booths can not see the sushi being made. Ordered Tuna Tataki for an app - previously (a few years back) it came on a platter, cut to edible size with some sea weed. Now they serve it in a martini glass with too big of pieces that has to be placed on a plate & cut in half. For my entree 2 chef made rolls one tuna & one crab, these were cone shaped & also in a martini glass. Extremely disappointing - seaweed wrap was so tough as to be inedible, so took them apart to get at the rice & crab in the first, Tuna in the second was cut in lengths with the grain - folks may not realize there are tendons & unless it's cut cross grain you must work to bite through it. Attempt to remove the rice to eat was unsuccessful like it was glued to the seaweed almost like these "cones" were made way in advance. Will not be back read more

This is my favorite restaurant in the planet. The ingredients are always fresh and delicious. Hibachi Filet & Shrimp is my personal "go to". The staff are all really nice and very helpful. They have started remembering my order when I go in! Francisco is our favorite chef, he is quite entertaining. I think Most people go to a Hibachi for a special occasion or for the show. I will be driving out of town from here on out to get Japanese. Okinawa keeps raising their prices, locals won't eat here for these prices. No other Japanese restaurants charge for fried rice. They also do not have updated prices on here. It is now $2.50 for fried rice and they only charge dinner prices on Sunday. Even when there is no one in the restaurant. Charged $25 for one meal, portion sizes were of lunch quality but at Dinner price. read more

Recently ate at restaurant and had excellent experience. Hibachi chef was very good even after watching the little show for more than 50 times. Prepared food was excellent. Service was adequate but waited long time for refills and reordering of beverages. Main issue centered around payment. Credit card was swiped twice and when asked following day to return the money, it took business 6 days to finally fix their problem. Because of the way business handled their issue with credit card, which they stated has been problem for other customers as well, I will not return and advise others to beware if you eat here and suggest you go to different restaurants. read more

I did not expect food this great in a strip mall! The Hibachi scallops were perfectly cooked and the meal was good quality but inexpensively priced for Japanese. They accommodated my gluten free request with no problem. My husband loved his Hibachi steak, and our Okinawa Sunset and Mai Tai drinks were wonderful and a great price. read more

Great atmosphere and wonderful service, Brenden was my server, 5 STARS!! The decor is solid but they have more wooden accents since we are in north Georgia where vacation cabins abound in the area. Since this is Tuesday Special Sushi day, my server brought out a custom menu with $1 per piece sushi specials, $3.25 appetizers, and $3.95 full roll specials. Brenden described in detail which ones he recommended and the famous "Fuji mountain" that is $12.95 and not listed on the menu!! It was CRAZY good!! I ordered FIVE of the $3.95 rolls based on his recommendations!! I plan on coming back here often and bringing my friends too!! I have a love/hate relationship with Okinawa. Love being the hibachi chefs are always super friendly and interactive. The food is great, I usually get the sushi special and my husband gets steak and chicken hibachi. However, on off days there is definitely a quality difference in food The hate being the servers there are so inattentive that I'm usually the one grabbing my own silverware, chopsticks and straws. Or I'm calling out to the hostess for drink refills. This hasn't been a one time problem either and I usually go monthly. I'm glad they upgraded the bathrooms and made the overall place a lot cleaner, but for me to put 5 stars they need to either get more servers or retrain the ones they already have to do better service. read more

So... I'm unsure how to write this review as I'm SO ABSOLUTELY TORN! I have not ate here since February or so, and here is why... EVERY time I eat here, regardless of what I order, I leave with a horrible migraine. Don't get me wrong, the service is wonderful! And the food is incredibly DELICIOUS!!! Absolutely love the sushi(!) and I appreciate that their are mixed veggies, spring rolls, and other vegetarian and vegan options. The portion sizes are great! And often I even have some leftover to take with me and enjoy with another meal. The atmosphere is wonderful; I love the water fountain feature as you walk in - very nice touch. And there are beautiful details throughout as well that give a very beautiful tranquility as you're dining. I appreciate the low lighting as well. But I always, always, have a horrible migraine hit before I even walk out, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I hope to be trying something from here again soon, and hope to be able to leave a better review, as this is an exceptional quality of food, and a wonderful establishment. Every week I have sashimi at Okinawa and it is excellent every week. The sushi chef makes sure it's fresh and the portions for the price are as good as I've had in ga, ny, nc, or ca! Spider roll is consistently good with very good soft shelled crab. Steamed gyoza is equal to dim sum and so much better than fried, but you can get it fried if you prefer. Service is good and consistent even during covid. Sit as the sushi bar for sushi and sashimi for a good experience. Open every day and the sushi chef is always there! Haven't sat in the Teppan/hibachi side, but it's spacious and looks to be able to accommodate large parties. read more
