I've wanted to try Tokyo Ramen Takeichi since last year. Stepping in by myself for a late lunch the place was empty but had lots of reading on the walls to keep me occupied. Since this is a chicken ramen place, I selected Tokyo Shoyu Ramen which seems to be their popular choice. It came out fresh and steaming. Ramen was perfectly cooked. Ingredients were pretty standard ramen bowl, except it was chicken broth, not the usual pork. Maybe I'm too used to pork, so this broth was too light and lacked the depth and flavor for me. I was a bit surprised. Their website lists Nouko Tori Paitan Ramen which has a creamy broth rich in collagen. Maybe I missed it on the menu but that is what I would've picked. Ordered the deluxe shoyo ramen that was supposed to come with chicken meatballs, which made it the deluxe price. First I asked if I could sub tofu for the chicken and the waiter straight out said "no", um okay. I get my ramen and notice the meatballs are missing. Maybe it was an oversight. I wait for the waiter to come back but he doesn't so I get up and kindly ask, "were there supposed to be meatballs in my deluxe ramen?" He nonchantley replies " oh sorry we are out of meatballs right now." So let me get this straight I ordered a deluxe dish and you knew you had no meatballs so you just thought I wouldn't notice? You don't say anything??? That was the whole reason I ordered this dish. Wtf! " Um. Nice try. Strike 2! The food was good but the service was horrible. We do like to leave tips even when traveling to different countries, but this guy deserved nothing. Would never come back. He was also eating over the stove while cooking. Gross. Dude needs some lessons in etiquette. Seems more suited to be working for a K-pop band, not a kitchen. read more

Ate here today for lunch with my sister on a rainy afternoon after visiting the Rijksmuseum. We both had the fried prawns but I had the clear shoyu and my sister had the spicy mazesoba. They all had tasted super delicious and yummy to eat. The service there was also friendly and really good. This review is for their Iki location. Ambiance was quiet upon arrival but I learned they were busy with many delivery orders. Service was friendly and efficient. Ramen menu works as follows: select the broth, style (bright or creamy), spice level and extra toppings. I went with the bright Shio ramen. This was an excellent choice with menma and two types of onions, and three types of chicken. This includes one minced chicken meatball, thick cut of white meat / chicken breast and thick cut of dark meat. The dark meat was not super tender so I would prefer thinner slices. Broth quality was superb. Bright is a mixture of the dashi and chicken stock. It was a bit richer than usual shio which is very light. However it had a great umami flavour. In addition to ramen they have a lot of other side dishes and curry, so something for everyone. Last perk is check in to redeem a free drink, beer included! :) read more

My first time having ramen and I was NOT disappointed! Cute little spot with very polite and friendly staff! I got the spicy chicken ramen with all the trimmings and it was the bomb dot com! One taste of the broth and I knew I had made the absolute best decision! It was spicy but not excessively spicy. It was actually so flavorful to the point that I could see myself eating only the broth if they happened to have run out of every other ingredient that went into the ramen. Food: We both ordered the Nouko Spicy Chicken Soup Ramen at the standard heat level. It wasn't super spicy for me (I have a high level of spice being Korean), but it had just enough to have a kick. The noodles are also good. We also ordered the Chicken Karage which also very yummy and juicy. Drinks: We ordered one cold black tea and one sprite. There is a new ramen place in town - Men-ya Takeichi. It is a famous Japanese chain famous for their chicken ramen. The ramen place is still pretty new and they only accept cash when I was there. There are couple options for the chicken soup : Shoyu , shio, nouko shoyu (extra creamy) , nouko shio, nouko spicy chicken and vegetarian soup ramen. I tried the nouko spicy chicken soup and it was delicious. The chicken is tender and perfectly cooked and the soup is creamy and flavorful. I added the tokusei toppings - including boiled eggs, chicken meat balls , extra chicken filet and seaweed. My friend and I also ordered the chicken karage and edamame. Both are really good. For pricewise, it seems a bit more than the other ramen place in town. It is not much with 1-2 euros difference. Overall, I am happy to have another new ramen place and more different flavor choices. read more

This is a nice little restaurant both staffed and run by Japanese people, so that automatically means you can rest assured you'll be in for a treat! The ramen here is rich and flavorful, and with a good amount of food for the price. We ordered the ramen set that comes with a kara-age appetizer, but our hostess informed us (in Japanese, always nice to be able to practice the language!) that they were out, so they would replace it with takoyaki instead. Can't argue with that! The takoyaki was excellent, very reminiscent of those I've had in Japan. The ramen was similarly delicious, though this is maybe the first time I've had a chicken-based ramen instead of pork. It was nonetheless delicious, and I would happily come back again! I really did not enjoy this dinner. The appetiser was an egg some not very good tasting cold chicken and bamboo shoots. Then the ramen came. Full of the same pieces of chicken found in the starter, the same egg, bamboo shoots..... the broth desperatly tasted chicken... chicken all the way, no alternative there. The noodles are not as thick as you expect in ramen. It tasted cheap (but it was not). I had a feeling of low quality ingredients and average poor standards. Service was made by disconnected students. What a disappointment ! I love Ramen and was so happy to find this place. You won't see me back there ever. read more

I have lately become affixed to Japanese Ramen and have been a number of places back home in New York City and this was the first time I went to a ramen outside of the US and was very pleased. This is the worst ramen I have eaten in Amsterdam. The service was horrible: it took 20 minutes just to place our drink order. Our appetizers came before and after our main course was served. The octopus balls smelled rotten and were covered in curry ketchup. Everything was processed and pre-made. And I need to reiterate how bad the service was. Once my request for service was ignored while the waiters went back into the kitchen to drink beer. Never again. My Recommendation: do not waste your time or money. read more
