    Chicken torikatsu

This was our last meal in Amsterdam, and was feeling a lil under the weather. We found this udon spot walking around, and we're so glad we did. The restaurant wasn't too busy, and we didn't have to wait on a Friday night. We ordered 2 different udons and both were really tasty, and shared the chicken torikatsu, which was really delicious - perfectly fried with a great ratio to the amount of meat. The udons were a bit saltier than what I'm used to, but I would eat here again. Not to mention, the noodles are made there, it was perfectly cooked al dente. The service was straightforward, and you can ask for the togarashi (red pepper) to add to your udon. I did love the wall art - super cute.

Some of the best udon I've ever had! The broth was so rich and warm. The noodles were the perfect texture and had the perfect bite to them. I didn't even leave a drop of food left in my bowl when I was finished. The portions are filling and the staff is so incredibly sweet. The shop is also clean but fairly packed especially during busy hours.

Stumbled upon this casual spot as I wandered from Jordaan; I didn't want to bike all the way home to have lunch before visiting some museums. I was craving soup, and wow this place delivered. I honestly didn't expect to find good udon in Amsterdam but these noodles were great texture, and a big portion. I had the Niku udon with delicious beef. The server was really kind and was quick to keep my water glass refilled. I liked their atmosphere, friendly for a group but also for solo diners. I was able to snag a spot against the wall, with a table perfect for people-watching. It was super cozy and I'd gladly return as a solo diner with a book in hand.

Woohoo - first review! Stumbled upon this place as we were on the way to check out Anne Frank's house. I wasn't sure what was good here, as they weren't on yelp yet because they just opened their shop a week prior to my arrival. The only thing that really caught my eyes on their menu is the Rayu udon - spicy udon topped with mizuna and karaage chicken - so I ordered it. The udon definitely came out completely different than what I imagined. I thought it was going to be the usual dark brown broth with some kind of spice to it. My udon looked like it was marinating in chili oil (see photo). I'm not going to lie, I was very intimidated to eat it at first as it looks like it'll mess me up later. BUT to my surprise, it was not as spicy as it looked. It was actually very good! I'd definitely order it again if I ever go back to Amsterdam.

So good. Like went twice in a row good. Handmade udon noodles, lovely service and decor, flavorful broths, and overall a great vibe.

The broth is amazing! The marinated beef is slightly sweet and savory. Perfect on a raining Amsterdam day.

Staff don't bother to find tables for you; they let customers figure things out among themselves. Alright. We eventually grabbed a table after 5-10 minutes, then had our order taken 10 minutes later. The food took a long time to come out: about 40 minutes (other than 1 appy that came out after 20). Good thing it was tasty. We got: -plantain fries (€6) -- tasty, especially with the sweet dipping sauce, but you get about 8 fries, so not great value. -okonomiyaki (€12.90) -- this was wonderful. So many lovely textures, flavours, and seasoned beautifully. This was the highlight of the meal for me. -vegan plate (€18.90) -- really nicely designed plate, with a base of brown rice, with a sort of Japanese slaw, vegan chicken katsu, tempura (apparently, though I didn't notice it), and stir fried veggies. Super tasty stuff. Not the biggest portion, but not bad either. My friends each got the crispy roti wrap (€14.90), which they loved, and the taste I had was great. Overall, great food, not the best dining experience. Perhaps my experience wasn't representative. I'd go back for the okonomiyaki alone.
