This place does eyebrows better than anyplace else. My very thick eyebrows know. That said, after six visits I decided I'm not going back. I hate it when salon employees trash talk clients in front of other clients. It's incredibly rude and unprofessional. Obviously, they don't care and don't need my business. I'm sure business is booming for them in tony downtown Birmingham and they don't need my proletariat money to keep them afloat. I'm still very disappointed, however, because their eyebrow skills there are unmatched. Beware: don't be late or they will give you a hard time. My makeup application appointment was changed on me last minute even though I'd made it very clear to the make up artist when I made the appointment that my schedule for the day was set in stone. So, not only did I get chided for arriving 10 minutes late (due to Woodward construction traffic), my whole day's schedule before my big night was completely jacked up. Then, she took so long to do my make up that I was late for my next appointment . Thanks a lot. If you want FRIENDLY, unpretentious service, get your eyebrows done at Rouge in Ferndale. read more

Unfortunately, I had a HORRIBLE experience with Todd's Room. I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 because I'm hoping this isn't how they usually operate. My hair dresser recommended them for my wedding makeup. I called in and the receptionist filled a form out for me and told me Raquel would call me with details, etc. From there is where the nightmare began. I won't go into the full details and make this review a novel but i was VERY upset that they had such a hard time getting back to me. They kept loosing my information/request form, promising they'd get back to me that day and it NEVER happened. called in to follow up about my inquiry at least 8 times over 3-4 weeks (i was polite). My experience was ridiculous and unacceptable that they couldn't get back to me. I would have given them my business with no questions since this was a referral and i gave them MANY chances. I don't think my experience applies to all workers in the Salon, just more specifically Raquel and wedding booking operations. Either way, it definitely reflects poorly on the salon. What a wonderful experience. Jeannie has worked on me for years. She is magic with the tweezers! Every time she works on my brows I get compliments from complete strangers (really). If you ever have need of a pedicure Halley is a wonder, she makes your feet feel fresh and is such fun to chat with. Todd is brilliant at assessing someone's facial features and making you look beautiful with his make up brushes. Finally if you can get into see Jan for hair she is wonderful. As a redhead it is very difficult to find stylists who know how to maintain a "real" looking red. I love this store; it is high glamour with a family feeling. I went to Todd's Room once for an eyebrow arch. It was a while ago, but because part of my eyebrows have never grown back from the dreadful experience I must share. The person who did my arch was male and youngish. He had smoky smelling fingers, a horrible attitude and very heavy hands. I should have left after the first pluck, but I felt vulnerable (lesson learned). After the arch, my eyebrows looked very Drag Race(ish). They were practically at a 45 degree angle. I've been a client of Laurie Sorge for several years now and will remain a faithful and loyal client of hers for life. Just got back from Todd's Room. Reception: Yikes! - leaves a lot to be desired. I basically had to ask her to book me since she could not even be bothered to look up when i approached the counter. As others have noted, the atmosphere is a little snooty. The girls behind the desk are definitely over-privileged children of wealthy B'ham parents, but just brush it off. I had my eyebrows done by Jamie B. and I am very pleased with the job she did. I'd never had my eyebrows professionally tweezed so I was nervous, but she kept the fullness I love in place and gave them a tidy little arch and took away the stuff at the top I'm always afraid to pluck. She also told me to grow back in a bit of my eyebrows, advice that I will take. So in sum, Jamie B does a great job with brows and the $25 was well-worth the expertise. The atmosphere in the shop is unwelcoming if you don't look like the typical B'ham lady who lunches, but like I said, brush it off. You'll like the final result. read more

Jeannie does my eyebrows. She's got talent and years and YEARS of experience that clearly show on my face. My brows and I absolutely adore her kind soul. They are a natural brow with a high arch so they can fit in when I'm full glam or no makeup days. Check her out! Ps: leaving off 1 star has NOTHING to do with her. Reception falls off sometimes so do yourself a favor and be your own reception. Write down all your appointments and make them in advance. There's a chance they won't do a reminder call (which is something I should probably responsible for on my own) BUT STILL! The best place for brows. I go to Jeannie and she is incredibly nice and professional. I never mind waiting for an appointment because there are tons of goodies to look at while waiting. I pay $28 for brows and I don't think that is much at all. Most salons charge at least $20 and most don't have the artistic talent for shaping eyebrows- it's just wax and trim. Jeannie is an artist and I would pay even more to see her. The front desk does need improvement. It is very hit or miss. After seeing how some of the customers act - I sort of understand. It must be draining working at that front desk, but that shouldn't be an excuse. However, I do appreciate the confirmation call. Once you pass the front desk, everyone is warm and friendly. Book eyebrows at least a weak in advance or when you check out. I've tried booking make up applications and Jeannie is always booked! I've called a month in advance with no luck, so I'm guessing weekend make up applications should be booked 6 months in advance. I hate parking in Birmingham for a quick 15 minute appointment, but I will because they are THAT GOOD. read more

Todd's Room is awesome! This was the best brow wax/shape I ever had. I went today and Todd himself did my brows and he was very meticulous and precise. He's a really nice guy too and his staff is very friendly as well. The price is $35 which is quite pricey for a brow wax but its totally worth it. Previously at other salons I have been too, they have mishaped my brows and left me with redness and irritation due to the wax being too hot. He used a tweezer for most of the job and only used wax when he absolutely needed too and even in those areas, I did not experience any irritation, so he is definitely using quality wax and his technique is gentle. He also defined my arch much more so than it had been in the past from other salons. Todd's room also does hair, makeup and has alot of products for sale too. Its a cute little boutique type salon and they dont push products on you like other salons. read more

I've seen Laurie for eyebrows most consistently and she does a great job. Be warned that they mainly use tweezers to shape your brows! I experienced very friendly and warm people who went out of their way to help me as I anxiously prepared for my son's wedding. Leda Berry was one person who went over and beyond to make a personal connection with me and it was so appreciated. Had my brows shaped by Scott. He did a great job, it took only about 15 minutes and he was very fun to talk to. I will not be waiting so long in between sessions this time. Can't wait to go back! Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. Someone doing your makeup for you for over 30 minutes. One star off because my makeup artist was very annoyed that my eyebrows were so uneven, and that he had to deal with fixing them. This is the only place that gave my eyebrows a beautiful arch! Nancy is the absolute BEST! Tweezing was not painful at all. Nancy's very nice and interesting to talk to. Recently I had to stop here to pick up a hair care product that wasn't in stock at my normal salon. I googled the product and this store came up...which I was familiar with...however had mixed feelings about. I called up the store, the lady on the phone was semi-decent and kind of acted like I was bothering her...hm ok, I thought. The only good things she did was take my product off the shelf and put my name on it. Since I was in a hurry to leave the city, I asked if I could pay over the phone and have it run outside to my car in front of the store. They begrugingly did so, and did not give me a recipt. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding last weekend and Scott from Todd's Room did my makeup. He was fantastic! I've had my makeup done professionally on many occasions and no one has ever done such an amazing job. I felt so beautiful and got wonderful compliments all night long. I have been to Todd's Place on 3 occasions to have my eyebrows shaped. Scott does a wonderful job and is very pleasant. However, today may be my last trip. When I entered for my appointment, there were 5 receptionists positioned behind the counter. While one or two were on the phone, the others completely ignored me for almost 5 minutes, while I stood there waiting. Finally, I asked if I could go back on my own since no one was helping me. Instead of apologizing, one said "Oh, I don't work up here" (she was texting as I waited). This exemplifies the rudest customer service I've ever experienced at an "upscale" salon. My cousin referred me to her because I LOVED the way my cousins eyebrows looked...great arch....not to thin or thick..and not a huge gap between her brows. I had my make-up done last weekend and was very dissapointed. Even though I requested a very light application, it was heavy, and magnified every tiny line on my skin, and the foundation was too dark and looked muddy. She kept me so at ease and had such a calm personality...it actually made me more relaxed the morning of my wedding!
