Never again. This is a reasonable blowout to my stylist Kendra. The picture of curly hair is my natural curl after my own styling after washing it. The burnt mess is how Kendra decided to do my blow out. I remember getting a blow out at a Dominican salon a few years ago and this was such a huge disappointment. She also said many micro aggressions and validated them by her expertise in curly hair through doing her mixed children's type 2 hair. If you hair curly hair go somewhere closer to Southfield. I will NEVER go to a European American salon again. read more

Top salon for all hair types!!! Michael Maxim is the best technical stylist. I've been going to him for 15+ years. Michael is a mad scientist and master of color and chemical treatments. His passion and depth of experience is evident with his product of work. Michael's knowledge about the science of hair and hair products equips him to create jaw dropping hair coloring especially for blondes. His other strengths are hair cuts and extensions. Including all types of weaves and wigs. Emile offers services for hair, nails, facials and massage. The staff are friendly and professional. It is easy to schedule an appointment. The wait time to start your service(s) is no more than 5 to 10 mins. My only dissatisfaction is there are no complimentary beverages. A salon of this caliber should at least offer water. My appointments are sometimes several hours long which is a long time to go without a beverage. read more

I had come to this salon many times to get my eyebrows waxed by Kathy, she is great and does a great job! I was also in need of a haircut and asked at the front who would be good. She recommended someone sitting at the front desk with her. I came back the following week for my appointment. I explained in detail what I wanted, asked where the shortest layers would be and it seemed good. The end result looked nice since she had blown my hair out and curled the ends. It is always hard for me to tell if I really like it at the salon. I looked at the ground and there was barely any hair on the ground which was a bad sign. After going home and styling my own hair I can barely tell I got a haircut, it was a waste of $50. The hairstylist seemed too busy talking to me, and taking personal phone calls during my appointment to pay attention to my haircut. She also spent time showing me how bad my hair was at the beginning, and made me look at it. I found this was totally unnecessary and offensive. I had told her it had been a few months since my last haircut, I have very long hair. You would think she would take off the length I asked her. I am finding that my hair still has split ends, and the hairstyle is boring and grown out looking. I asked for layers at my chin level, the shortest are more than 4 inches past my chin. Overall not what I asked for, and a waste of money. I did call back to try to come in and get it redone. I asked what the salon policy was on this, the receptionist could not give me a straight answer. She also could not find a time to fit me in. There may be some good stylists here, but not in the $50 range. The good ones charge way more. read more

Update: I received a phone call from the stylist mentioned above, not to apologize for her poor service but rather to let me know that it must have be MY fault and/or am remembering wrong since (in her words) "I am very professional and I never run late." Very poor taste. An apology might have convinced me to reconsider but as it stands Emile Salon lost a client. read more

Best manicure and pedicure in town by Anna!!!!!! She does natural nails. Uses the highest quality products. Very clean and hygienic. A million polishes to choose from - not a bunch of 1/2 used dried up bottles. Plus the view is so pretty. They are near a courtyard garden and you sit and look at the pretty view while you are getting pampered. I have worked in the Cosmetic Spa industry for over 25 years and Anna is worth every penny. received a gift certificate to Emile and used it for a shellac manicure. My manicure was at 2:30 and she didn't start working on my nails until 2:45with another client at 3. She said they didn't put that I wanted shellac on the schedule and didn't know about time before her next client. I've always had shellac on my nails but I was advised not to and to use their product. I like the shellac because it's longer lasting and didn't chip. However she advised that the natural color line would do the same and is better for my nails. I trusted her and went with the natural line and it didn't take 24 hours for my nail polish to start chipping. I'm a medical student and study basically for a living so my nails don't undergo a lot of wear and tear, no reason for them to chip. It's been 3 days and my nails look terrible, going to have to go and get them redone somewhere else. read more

Anna has been my manicurist for several years and she is the best in the business! Cleanliness and sanitary pedicures are extremely important to her. She gives a "proper" manicure/pedicure and uses the best products. I've been to high end spas in NYC and Washington DC and Anna by far exceeds their service level. I would give Emile Salon and Spa 5 stars if the owner was better. I only go there, now, for Kathy. She does my daughter and my arches and is phenomenal. It's amazing what she remembers about what we're doing and what's coming up. She has many clients yet seems to keep them all straight. She's lovely and personable...just a charming experience even though the process is, of course, painful. But she makes the least painful as possible. Kathy is awesome! Regarding the ownership - In my opinion and observation, I do not see the owner really caring about the welfare and well-being of his clients. My primary example is the lack of handicap access. There are no designated handicap parking spots and access to some areas of the salon is only by stairs - there is no elevator...and he does not seem to care. This is an observation. If it weren't for Kathy, I would not go to this salon. read more

Went to get a gift card for Mother's Day, but was turned down because they had "already closed the gift card box for today." What???? It was 25 minutes before they closed, and they still had clients getting hair done. They told me to come back in 3 days if I wanted a gift card. Overall very poor customer service. Got the sense they thought they were in an upscale salon in Beverly Hills, CALIFORNIA, rather than Michigan. I would never consider returning, and in my opinion this place doesn't deserve your business either. read more
