The staff are professional, kind and talented and they go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable during your experience (even offering mimosas!) The salon is beautiful and small which makes for an intimate experience. I love going to get my hair done so I can relax and destress from the week. Bombshell uses the highest quality of color and products that give my hair so much TLC. My hair hasn't been this long in my entire existence! When you arrive you are greeted by the receptionist, Megan. Always smiling, always bubbly, and not afraid to run next door to buy you some wine or in my case, champagne. Thanks, Megan for making the welcome and closing memorable. Let me start by saying I am from Kalamazoo, Mi. I drive 146 miles to see Melissa. Each and every mile is worth it. This alone says all there is to say about her talent and creativity. She doesn't miss a detail. From the first time we met I trusted her and her abilities. The (color) product line. Keune. Research it, it's self explanatory. My blonde, color treated hair has actually repaired itself due to this color line. Next, the hair care product line. Kevin Murphy, "skincare for your hair." They aren't kidding with that tag line. And the scents, they are heavenly. I've never smelled product like this. The entire staff is professional and they work as a team to make your visit all it should be. Since I moved to Michigan, I have been looking for the right fit for a hairstylist. I never had this issue in NY, LA or a smaller town in Missouri. I have two degrees; one in English and one in Communications. I am pretty confident in my ability to communicate. I went to the salon with the hopes of having my roots touched up. I am a natural blonde and it's not a difficult process. In addition to my current hair color, which is a warm honey blonde, I also provided a couple of pictures from my prior hair stylists. I even explained that I have hair that tends to be porous and takes easily and fast to color or highlights. After I was washed, I was horrified. My hair was a deep ash grey/black. I have no idea what happened. She immediately started saying that it was because it was wet. Give me a break, I'm not an idiot. She then proceeded to give me the highest level of highlights on top of my hair. I looked like a skunk after the second wash!! I had white streaks against dark, dark hair. No sign of blonde anywhere. She said, "Don't worry you don't have to pay for it." But, even after going to another salon and paying $160-my hair still sucks!!!! It is SO hard to strip this awful dark color out of my hair even with new highlights, lowlights and toner. I am livid that this is considered a high-end Birmingham salon. I look like I have been dyeing my hair in prison blindfolded. It will be months before my hair does not look horrible. Run from this place! I will be adding a before and picture as proof. read more

I've been so pleased with my experience at the salon overall as well as the individual attention he has provided. This salon is good. However one stylist in particular over charges. I went to the salon for hair extensions. Unfortunately we ran out of hair to complete my style. My stylist gave me the name and address of the nearest beauty supply to purchase more hair to complete the process. I did pay on the way out just in case something happened and I didn't make it back before closing. I made it back with the additional hair to complete my style within 45 mins. The stylist completed my look. Then she charged me an additional 60.00 on top on the 305.00 that I had already paid her (I also had included a tip of 20.00). She says she charged me the additional 60.00 because I paid before I left to get more hair, and my ticket was closed out. Can you believe that? I would have more than likely tipped her again because I was grateful for her work Then this morning I call to cancel my appointment due to an emergency and the same stylist wants to charge me a 50.00 same day cancellation fee. This woman and shop is too money hungry or maybe their cliental is too low? Wonder why....... cheating people out of money. Don't go to this salon unless you have money to burn! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Bombshell Salon, but I will try to list a few of my favorite parts of my experience. First, it's a family run business (mother/daughter) which already makes it special. Second, I have had a service by several of the stylists, including one of the owners (Melissa), and they are all exceptionally talented, friendly, and provide a great experience, and you can't go wrong with any of them. Third, the stylist I have been seeing regularly now, Heather, I now consider a friend. Even though I am still her client and I pay for her services, I really do feel like I'm going to visit with a friend every time I head to the salon, and I get an awesome hair cut/color every time. Finally, the experience that is curated by Bombshell is like no other salon I've been to - it is an intimate space that is also luxurious and I really do feel pampered every time I go (without breaking the bank). Sadly, I didn't feel like a priority but got the distinct impression I had been "squeezed in". (You know those salons that overbook and sacrifice client personal attention in order to make the most money possible?) Yesterday was my 2nd appointment with the owner. My first appt a couple weeks ago I had 2 extensions put in. They told me when they confirmed this 2nd appt on my voicemail to come with my hair already washed. (Never experienced that before). I have a 10 month old so I ended up not having time. I called on my way and told them i was also running 5 min behind. They told me ok but that she wouldn't have time to blow me dry. Ok. My bad. Well, when I got there she was still working on someone else anyway. Once she was ready for me she did wash it but was unnecessarily rough doing so and rushed through it. This appt was to get one extension put back in that had started falling out after one day/one wash and to get an additional (3rd) extension put in. She told me the one came out because of the shampoo I'd used (and recommended i buy some shampoo and conditioner from their line, which I did) although the other extension was still fine but starting to grow out (took note that she didn't bother to move that one up to my scalp so it matched the other 2.) So now I have a total of 3 extensions (at $50 a pop.) Here's the real zinger. As rushed as she supposedly was she actually stopped what she was doing and starts primping in the mirror and farting around with her own appearance, fixing her bracelet, all while she's supposed to be working on me! Then after she gets the extensions in tells me how she hates to send me out with a wet head (even though it's late November, chilly out and I'm pregnant) but again, she just didn't have time. Okee doke. My bad being 5 min late and not washing my own hair so she still got her 20%. Alas, not the most professional experience and won't be going back. read more

My hair feels so soft after coloring, and there is absolutely no irritation whatsoever. This is something I have never experienced before. Jesse is fantastic. I've been to several salons and haven't found anyone that has the vision Jesse has. I first went to Jesse 5 weeks ago because my hair looked blah no matter how much time I spent on it. Jesse gave me the cut I asked for after showing him a picture and I could simply blow dry my hair and it looked great! I went back today for my second cut. Jesse makes the experience fabulous, from the scalp massage dto the the hot towel after my wash. So glad I found this salon and Jesse thought I have to drive from Ann Arbor to get there! After a bad experience getting tape-in hair extensions from another salon, I decided to do a Yelp search for reviews, I'm so glad I did! Nearly all the reviews for Bombshell were 5 Stars, so I made an appointment with Melissa. I have baby fine, thin hair, and tape-in extensions are wonderful and very comfortable compared the ones they did in the past. Melissa expertly put in my extensions, blended them, and they look amazing! She wanted make sure I was happy with them and was meticulous, and ensured me if there was any which I ended up not liking the placement, she'd be happy to move or remove them no problem. Bombshell Salon is fabulous! It's a super cute, smaller salon which also has GREAT parking in a huge lot commented to the building....and for those of you who are familiar with the parking in Birmingham, this is a major bonus!
