We have been longtime satisfied customers of Today's Nails for many years. Yesterday my daughter and I went to the salon and experienced post-pandemic what Today's Nails was doing to make the salon experience safe for the public. When we arrived, following our appointment, the staff took and recorded our temperature. There was plexiglass installed at every station and all the staff were wearing gloves and masks and social distancing. All of the actual merchandise was covered and we were seated every other customer for social distance purposes. I find that they are very thorough in their preparation and do a beautiful job with nail application that last for many weeks. Also creative with painting designs. There's no price list posted anywhere so I figure I should do a PSA and share the price increase for pedicure to $23 from $20 a year ago. Took me by surprise but it's not outrageous. Very bad service for waxing. The room was dirty with open food around, the room was very messy. The waxing service was the worst. She finished the job in 10 mins with me telling her to wax the left out parts. She was trying to tell me i did this for you and did that for you while jn fact she did not do her job fine. I do really wish Yelp had half stars as I would have given this 3.5. First off, the ladies there are very friendly. I had a pedicure done and it was well done and did not feel rushed. They produced pre-packaged instruments which was reassuring that they were clean. I had two issues with this place. One, the massage chairs are crammed together to where it is a little uncomfortable unless you came with the person next to you. My second issue is the massage chairs are very very worn. Came here on a whim as I needed to get my nails done ASAP for an occasion... terrible idea, but this was the only place open on a Sunday around Millbrae. Came here right when they opened around 10:15 and already the place was busy. I walked in and was greeted with "Can I help you" instead a "hello" "hi" and then "how may we help you". I didn't want to judge before I got my nails done, but this should of sealed the deal because the rest of the experience wasn't all that great. Anyways I got a French Manicure ($15). And I was in and out in 20 minutes? Shows how much time they spent on it. Anyways, after they buffed and filed down your nails, the lady helping me basically just say "you pay now" (sorry for the broken English, but this really was said). I was kind of taken back. I mean I understand why I had to pay early so I didn't have to reach into my purse and ruin the nails, but really. Couldn't you have asked more nicely? So I paid and then the polish went on. They painted it rather quickly and even let dust get sealed in under the coat of polish.. it's so visible when you have a french manicure. The white tips of my manicure are uneven on half my nails. One side of the nail is thicker. When the lady screwed up she used her nails to kind of pick at the white line to make it better. In reality it made it so much worse because there was a dent in the polish.. she didn't even fix it. Finished look: you can still see some edges of the nail that wasn't even coated and the tips look even from a far, but close up is a different story. I wouldn't come here again to get my nails done. The ladies who work there seem like they are just in a rush or don't care about newcomers into the store. Plus they only speak to each other in another language. Service isn't all that great. You would think it would because there are so many other nail places in Millbrae that they have to compete against. read more

Went here for the first time today. My boyfriend lives in Burlingame and because it's Monday "tip n toe" is closed. When I got there I asked if it was a 10$ manicure. (no pricing signs) and she said yes and repeated "10 dolla". She did an excellent job cutting my cuticles (and spent a lot of time) hence 1 star The massage was short and she did not trim my nails at all or ask if I wanted them shaped/trimmed. Bummer. My nails are kinda uneven now. Before she painted my nails she asked me to pay. I said ok. Kinda rude how she asked but I don't think much of it. I Gave her a $20 and she handed me back 8$. I said "Isn't the manicure 10?" and she said "NO NO 12" in a VERY rude tone. I would have been okay with 12 - but she told me 10 in the beginning. I am half asian so I can understand the heavy accent - It wasn't a mix up - It was a lie!!!! I brought my own opi color and sparkles. She did an ok job with the paint. Plus another star for a great selection of opi nail colors. Kinda bummed that it's now day two and my nails have already chipped pretty badly. DO NOT GO HERE. I was dragged here by 2 of my girlfriends who were looking for a cheap pedicure. This was by far the worst manicure I've ever had. The salon was disgusting, and my $30 shellac manicure, which they only applied one coat of, chipped 2 days later. If you want to know what the ambiance of the salon is like, spend 20 minutes in a crack house. You can get a much better manicure for the same price anywhere else in the bay area. Please clean your salon, and offer better service. Otherwise, lower your prices. And stop asking if people like the service while you are pushing them out the door. read more

This nail salon is a gem. Rose is wonderful and welcoming. Helen does the MOST beautiful and lasting custom pedicure designs...seriously, she cares and is very good at her work. I get positive comments on my toe designs several times a week (and this from a woman who gets her toes done about every 5 weeks...the designs last). this is a great, not pretentious, nail salon that understands service, quality, craft and well, family. I was also able to have my 4 year old get a finger and toe polish and they were super patient and kind to her. I couldnt wait to get home and write a review about this place. As soon as i walked in, RUDE. Fine, expected... But when i litterally have to keep telling the lady, "shorter" ... "shorter"... "thinner"... "thinner" and then she starts talking about me in vietnamese to the other lady, and still cant get my nails right?!! I got classic pink and white nails, and they are thick and so wide the acrylic goes over my skin on the sides. Ive been getting my nails done my whole adult life so I know a crappy job when i see it. My favorite salon up the street was full of people so I decided to go down the block and get a pedicure at the next salon I came upon. Big mistake! First of all, *my* salon was busy for a reason...they're great and I'm sure everyone that gets their nails done there has referred someone (or they have read the yelp reviews!). I should have waited around but I was impatient. I came upon this salon and the lady that "greeted" me after I walked in, was nothing short of rude! It wasn't even a friendly greeting. It was more of an "what do you want?" blurt. There were 2 other people getting pedicures and there were 3 stations open and employees to accommodate, so it wasn't like I brought a group of friends in without an appointment. "Pick your polish!" Are you for real? Then she pointed to the station where I should go. Woman, I'm not a dog. If your English isn't so great that's OK but there's no excuse for being rude. After I sat down in the chair, I checked out the yelp reviews on my phone. Yikes! I wished I had done this before-hand but it was too late and I was already getting my feet wet. The lady that did my pedicure at least said hello. After a rushed job (and she didn't even cut my nails, just filed them), I was hurried over to the drying fan. All I could think was "my first and last time here". My polish wasn't completely dry and I scuffed 2 toes while putting on my slippers but at that point, I didn't care because I wanted to get the hell out and leave. That's how bad it was. Not the worst manicure and far from the best. The place is a bit on the dirty side, they do not use disposable files and buffers which kind of weirds me out. The shellac lights they use are the old ones so it takes a long time for a shellac manicure. I guess I'm just so used to the new lights that dry in 45 seconds vs 3 minutes per coat. My biggest gripe would be that she didn't paint all the way down. See pic...it says it all. Would I come back? Probably not but I'm also very picky. read more

I used nothing other than Yelp to find this little place. I needed a last minute manicure and nail polish change after a long work day the day before a wedding. I know it sounds like I was procrastinating but I didn't want to chip my nail polish at work (reasonable, huh?). About 15 min before most places close at 7 pm, I called a few places and no one was taking appointments. Finally, I called Today's Nails and Rose had me come in, did my nails perfectly and was so sweet! My toes and nails were done at the same time which is always helpful. What was supposed to be a relaxing manicure turned into a rushed, poorly done nail job. While I could tell this place was busy, they said they could accommodate my walk-in manicure. I didn't mind waiting almost 30 minutes for my turn, but when it came, the lady was very distracted and kept getting up from my station every few seconds to do another customer's eyebrows or fill a tub of water for a pedicure chair. She turned on a fan for me to dry my nails but then bubbles formed on the nail polish surface and when I pointed this out to her, she told me I'd held my hands to close to the fan.
