Excellent service but it is not handicap accessible. Pedicure was great but there were 5 stairs within the shop.

This was my second time coming here. The first was just ok, and I only had my gel removed. This time I had my gel removed and a basic manicure. It was pretty awful. I had cut my nails the night before so I just needed them filed. The person doing my nails used the dremel to shave off some gel, applied the gel remover, and then used the dremel again. The remover gel and my gel polish was flying off in chunks and when it hit my skin it BURNED. The technician kept using her gloves hand to wipe the bits away which just dragged the solution across my skin and made it burn even more. I requested to wash my hands because it hurt so bad and it was all over. Eventually the burning subsided, but when she went to dremel again, she was going fast and she cut one of my cuticles pretty bad, it was dripping blood into the sink. She applied that solution to make the bleeding stop. She also barely filed my nails, so they were still uneven in the same places as when I cut them myself the night before. After all of that, I was charged $40 and left with very scratched up nails from using the dremel really aggressively, damaged cuticle with caked on blood I haven't been able to scrub off, and some gel polish still on my nails. Definitely won't come back. read more

I went in for the first time today to get gel nail polish. I was helped by Pia. She was excellent at the job as well as just as a person! She made sure I was comfortable, helped me pick a color, was thoughtful about time especially since I was running low on it. She was fast and super efficient. Love how my nails turned out! read more

I love everyone who works here as they're always warm and welcoming, but most especially, they offer amazing quality of work and the price is comparable to others around. I won't be going back, and neither should you. Archie I believe was her name -- drilled through my nail. They then charged me $110, when I said that it isn't fair to charge me full price (I couldn't even get the do the dip manicure I wanted) one of the larger men in there blocked me in and said I was wrong; that it's under my nail when I told him no, I can feel everything she was doing on top of my nail he said well this is our pricing. For reference I got a $60 pedicure which I happily would have paid for, They charged me for the removal of the gel before which was $20 again something I have no problem paying for. All I wanted was maybe a small discount for the fact that she did make a mistake which she apologized for-- but my finger is still hurting and I couldn't put any color on top of it for the event I'm going to later today. Instead they charged me full price and told by one of the workers that basically I was wrong about my finger hurting and the hole in my nail. Even though I could see it before she put the hardening polish on top of it. In short, I don't think anyone should go there. If this is how they treat their customers when they make a mistake. read more

I had a set of gel x done here and while the design and color was beautiful it did not last three of them broke off within 2 days and I went back to fix all three and then two days later another broke again. I have been going to Tamika nail salon for about 5 years now. Travis is my go to guy for nails and lashes. I. Love. It. Here. The salon is clean, the crew is accommodating, the price is fair and the work exceeds my very high standards. Travis is not the owner of the salon but is like the ambassador, he clearly cares about everyone's experience. I was in the salon today when a woman came in and asked for a mani/pedi. I heard the whole conversation. She wasn't clear that she was in a hurry when she got there and she did not wait 20 minutes. She proceeded to questioned every move her pedicurist made, was rude and condescending to Travis telling him that he should've told her only one person would be working on her and that she was in a hurry. And THEN proceeded to talk shit about them on a phone call. Travis did show concern when she said she had an allergic reaction but upon checking out her feet it was clear to him that it was the old polish on her toes. Shop was clean and everyone was friendly. However, the shape of my nails came out uneven and polish all bubbly. I originally came in for dip and was told gel would be stronger since I had a broken nail, so I went with what they said but didn't expect was for a gel manicure to cost $75 which is more than dip. Also, my polish came out all uneven and not smooth. I got a matte color and there probably should have been a top coat put on before the matte to smooth out the nail. I asked if it was possible for a short coffin and at first she said no but then she tried. First nail she showed me was fine but the rest got progressively worse and now the shapes of my nails are all wonky. read more

Tamika's consistently delivers quality nail service and I'd consider it the best nail salon in Burlingame. The salon is actually in what used to be a home so there are homey features like a fireplace and a staircase. They have SO many nail colors from all brands, and a wide selection of dip powder. They also have unlimited complimentary snacks and drinks. Every time I go the place is nearly empty and I'm always confused because it's such great service and good quality nail work. If you book an appointment here, book it with Travis only. His work is nice. I don't recommend anyone else. This isn't the first time Brian has done my nails. He has done it several times, and from several times 3 times, there have been bubbles in my nails. And it's right before Christmas, and I got chrome nails, and there are bubbles in it. The last time I had Chrome done, there were no bubbles. Paying $70 for bubbles in your nails isn't worth it. And to top it off, instead of fixing it, I was told if i want it fixed, the color would not be the same, and I would have to choose another color. The prices here are outrageous, though. Nails aren't straight , from the side, you can see waves. You can see it in person, it doesn't show properly in the picture cause of the color. read more

Update: Unfortunately, I wouldn't say that Tamika has fully redeemed themselves. I'm only giving four stars to round up from the 3.5 stars I'm actually rating. After my first review expressing my unpleasant experience, I really appreciated how Tina had reached out to me to offer me a free set. I took her up on that offer. Although this was good customer service, I still think that this nail salon needs to work on improving customer interaction. In addition, I also don't think that they should let their workers who don't specialize/are familiar with dip do dip. If you offer a service listed on your menu, the worker assigned to you should be properly trained on how to do it. Otherwise, what's the point? I accepted her offer and she provided me with the same dip nail service that was significantly better than the first time. They look perfect! One thing contributing to the 3.5 rating is that outside of the free set, a manicure is $15. It's a pretty outrageous price for a manicure. read more

I have been a "regular" customer for years - since the "before" times (pre-Covid). I only have positive things to say about Tina, Travis, Leo and the entire crew. They are professionals who are skilled in their craft, and they know me as a person (and always ask how things are going with my family, work, etc.). I enjoy my rapport with each of them and have never had an issue where a nail chipped and they didn't offer to fix it straight away (these are rare occasions, but I've always experienced great service). They also have the biggest selection of gel Polish colors and a top tier system for dip nails that does not require UV light. read more

I showed him an inspo pic and he picked out the colors for me. I've also been trying to grow out my nails but one nail was broken and barely hanging on, he was able to put some glue and save it!! Love my mani pedi! Stopped in to Tamika's yesterday. This is my first mani pedi since SIP 2 yrs ago. I have been apprehensive to get any personal services done but, I have slowly + cautiously returned to some "normal" behaviors. I appreciate that the salon is taking precautions for the staff + patrons. I was pleasantly surprised by the addition of the temp scanner along with continued use of mandatory masks and the removal of all of the polishes for patrons to touch all over. Instead, you'll receive a swatch of colors once you're seated to be serviced. I was dreading that process. Overall, the service was better than I remember pre-pandemic + I was done w/in an hour! Today, my paint is still holding strong and I'm so excited to show off my freshly manicured digits! I cannot wait for my next service next month. I live in Burlingame and have tried several nail salons in the area and Millbrae, never really finding a place that I want to return to. I'm usually looking for a Gel pedi, Dip mani and although I don't mind the cost (and I tip well) I would appreciate at least a little kindness while I sit there knowing full well gone are the days where the manicurist makes small talk with customer. ***I also almost can never make an appointment because of my work I've actually been back to Tamika's nails twice now. My first experience was OK They had a lady do my feet while a guy did my toes. I did leave with a nip on my cuticle but they looked great and my pedi lasted for a long time! I was even happier the second time I went by. I called and they said they would fit me in just for the dip Mani on a Saturday afternoon. When I got there I was helped by Tina and I explained to her that I needed my nails trimmed way back to prepare for my seasonal holiday work as a Christmas decorator. She listened to my request and did an amazing job. Even cut really short my nails looked so good and she gave me an extra dip to make them nice and strong. Can't wait to go back now my holiday work is done and hopefully Tina will help me as my nails come back. I'm hoping I can request her to be my person!!!
