I came here to get my nails done and expected it to go like every other nail appointment where I show what I want and don't get it, but Vanessa was absolutely amazing! She asked for a photo of what I wanted for my nails and completely delivered. She was extremely friendly and the place was super clean. She took her time and didn't buff my nails which I had requested. She didn't and agreed that it wasn't good for nails and even told me what to do to help my dry hands. I definitely coming back here again! read more

Came in for a dip manicure. She filed my nails down so low that they were weaker than weak. She wanted to give me a gel manicure instead of the dip that I wanted (probably because of how she damaged my nails )A few of my nails are broken or should I split say split down my nail in the middle of my finger. I've had mani pedis done here on several occasions, but I finally asked about the lash extensions they had on a poster in the shop. I'm so glad I did! I came in with my natural lashes in fairly bad shape -- sparse and damaged due to improper removal of some extensions I'd had done somewhere else, previously. I'm super happy with the volume she was able to give me, despite minimal surface lashes to attach to. read more

I had been a loyal customer of InStyle for the last 5 years. Josie (the former owner) and her sister Vanessa were wonderful and always performed high quality service. I called to make an appointment just the other day with Vanessa who has been my nail tech for two years. First, I was informed she had suddenly retired and then I was told by a different person that she still worked there? Which is it? I was very disappointed by the lack of information and care that I was given over the phone. I would suggest going to a new salon and not supporting the new owners. read more

ABSOLUTELY NOT i cant do anything but laugh at this point because it is that bad. I had long beautiful toe nails previously and came in, asked her NOT to cut it please just shape it square.............maam?? What shape is this and WHY IS IT SO SMALL!? I am so unbelievably sad and couldn't believe they thought this was acceptable. I was going to get a manicure as well but once i saw my toes i said immediately no, so i went somewhere else for my fingers. I went in for gel manicure and pedicure for $70 I was told. Once seated the person assisting me wanted to raise the price $15 and charge me $85 so I got discouraged and wanted to go somewhere else. Josie (owner) spoke to me and said it's ok we'll do it for the original price $70. I decided to stay but regretted!!! the gel manicure was done by Josie (owner) she did a poor job!!! she was dealing with other customers in between so I ended up with one coat of gel polish on one hand. not good quality gel polish either, starts to peel off within a week. Very disappointed!!! read more

Just took my girls out to get their nails done for Halloween. In Style Nail Salon in San Mateo always does such a beautiful job. Thanks again. I did want to make a comment about some of the other reviews that I have read here.... I noticed they have mentioned that the jell nails did not last. If you have your hands in water often or use hand lotion, it is best to wear rubber gloves while doing dishes and do not leave your nails moist for extended amounts of time. If you are using lotions, be sure to wash and dry the tips of your nails after applying. Jell polish should last 2 to 3 weeks if you care for them properly. Best regards. read more

This was my first time at this salon, and made a reservation ahead of time. I definitely needed a break from work and it was all worth the time I spent here. When I got in I was quickly seated with Josie. She's incredible! When choosing my Gel nail color, (and they have a wide selection to choose from) I was stuck between two shades of gray. Her and her staff gathered around and even debated which color goes well with my skin. Honestly, either would've came out great. After she painted my nails and set them with a matte finish, I was expecting to be done. Then she gave me a neck massage and hand massage with warmed lotion. UGH!! Took my almost-7 year old here for mommy/daughter mani-pedis and it was lovely. Not only were Vivienne and Helen skillful and friendly, but I was especially impressed by the clean, comfortable surroundings and the quality of air circulation. Not a single whiff of chemicals or powders. Loved our mani pedis, and the entire experience. We will definitely be back! read more

Wanting to find a place near work, I ventured off to try a different nail place. What I did appreciate about this one was was the friendly staff. Super nice! I REALLY wanted to love it here but had to go back after 2 days to fix chipped gel nail polish. This is a week later AFTER having it redone again. Sigh... I don't have time to take care of it. For the price I paid and having had my nails done for years and am very careful, they should've lasted WAY longer. Sadly, I won't be coming back. read more

Ok, so they raised their price from $35 to $40 for mani pedi in the last two weeks...and they do give a good mani-pedi, for the most part. The massage was short, not very good, and left me going "huh? was that it? Like rub rub done." Then when I gave the woman $60 and asked for $13 back...and she only gives me $10 back, so I ask for $13 back again...and she just looks at me...ya. I didn't get my extra $3 back, and I won't be back. read more

It was time for a manicure which I don't do on a regular basis. I was in down town San Mateo and thought I would try this place as a close friend of mine goes there all the time. Over the past year I have tried several places for manicures and all of them are either dirty, they barely speak English, not friendly and so on. It's nice to say that I was pleasantly surprised. In Style was very clean! The gal who did my nails was quite nice and very detailed about her work. They also give a neck and shoulder massage which hurt a little but I thought it was a nice add to the service. My nails look great. Also they took me as a walk in without any hassle. Price wise, this place in my opinion is very reasonable. I paid 20.00 including tip. (no polish for me as I tend to wreck them very fast. The only downside was that they don't take Visa. Update note: they do NOT take credit cards even though it says so on Yelp. They should at least get a Square. I'm going to get my friend a gift certificate for her services and need to go back because I didn't have that much cash on me. I will still keep going to my favorite place, Avant Garde for my pedis though. No place beats their expertise, cleanliness standards, friendliness and professionalism. They are expensive and they are worth every penny. But for a quick manicure I would definitely go back to In Style. read more

Pricey pedicure....they did a decent job but for $28 ($4 for frenched) seems a little steep Granted this is the first time my legs were massaged with warm rocks which was different. But i'd rather opt out from the rocks and pay a little less. With so much competition out there, i'll probably seek a little less expensive place for a pedicure read more

Absolutely love this place. Pedicures are so worth it from massages to hot rocks and plenty more. They take their time with pedicures & also offer fragrance soap scrubs when getting a pedicure - my favorite is cherry blossom. Location is nice and clean - they check temperature prior to entering in and also have you fill out a covid consent form. Will definitely be returning. read more

This place is recommended to me by not only my mom, but another one of my friends. It's always clean, I've never had to wait, and all the ladies are really nice. The owner is especially great, and comes over and checks up on work occasionally. I have had Helen, and Vanessa. This picture is from Vanessa. Eh this place is okay. Nothing spectacular.. even after eight years. I came in for nails instead of an eyebrow wax bc it was down the street from where we were having dinner. My friend's mom comes here all the time and has fabulous nails, so why not? Cool - lots of colors and types of polish to choose from. Not cool - the staff thought our appointment was at 4 but it was 4:30 pm and pretty much wasn't happy with us when we walked in. Cool - big ijoy massage chairs. Not cool - big ijoy massage chairs that didn't really massage. Cool - lady walked in for a gel manicure- they take walk ins! Not cool - I waited 10 minutes to have someone turn the water on for me in the spa chair and then 20 more minutes for someone to actually work on my pedicure .. feet were prunes. Then she said they were short staffed ... to work on someone who had an appointment versus the walk in!?!!? Cool - feet cleaned up well, didn't hurt. Leg massage felt nice. Not cool - waited another 20 minutes for my manicure after I said I'd just skip it bc we had dinner reservations and the lady said she'll do it fast, including my neck massage - which was not relaxing. Cool - cash and check only - there's a bank across the street so you can get cash. Not cool - when asked if they took credit card, the lady said cash or check only but then gel manicure customer paid with credit card. Cool - nice mix of music in the background. Not cool - music stops at 5:30 pm. I get it, everyone is just trying to make money and sure, why not take another client for more money. How about no bc you know you are short staffed and have four appointments that you took in and only have three people working. Just not cool that we were treated unfairly. Maybe they were just having a bad day. Would I return? Probably not since there are SO many more nail places in the area - but if you ever need a quick gel manicure, they take walk ins. read more

I got a mani/pedi for $40 today. Overall, I'm happy about my decision to go here for the first time because: -the hot stones during the pedicure felt great. Not sure what their benefits are? Or if they do it long enough?! But nevertheless, it feels great. -the extra attention they give to exfoliation during the pedicure. Seriously, they scrub like crazy. Not shy at all. Love it. However there are some quirks: -CASH ONLY, please minimally get Square, I literally had to go to the Wells Fargo across the street and withdraw cash, in my salon paper sandals -could have been a bit more detail oriented on the polish job. Not all fingers have an even coat of top coat. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7/10. read more

Worth the drive across the bridge ! They checked my temp before entering and I signed a consent form due to covid 19. Super cute salon. Clean. And the pedicure ! Yikes. Preface: I am the least pickiest nail client in the history of nail clients; I'll take pretty much whatever I can get whenever I can get it. This was actually painful to sit through. There were four free nail techs when I came in and the woman who did my nails was talking on her phone the entire time. Typically, I couldn't care less since I'm not really one for small talk anyway, but I felt like it actually deterred her from doing her job. The other 3 nail techs were just sitting around and staring at my shocked (and priceless) facial expressions the whole time. They could tell I was extremely frustrated but instead of taking over they almost just looked amused. Super professional. I'm pretty sure a standard gel manicure should not take over an hour and start chipping within 3 days. Nope. read more

Great service. My nails usually last more than a week with regular manicure. When I bring in photos of nail designs, they can usually copy the design well. The owner Josie even found special nail polish from Korea called Skin Food. It has calcium, vitamin and keratin! The best thing is they give you a free quick shoulder massage for each manicure. read more

I usually get an appointment with Jamie who is kind, quick, and easy to talk to. The highlight here is that she gets the job done quickly, especially Brazilians and bikini waxes. For a $65 Brazilian that can be done in less than half an hour, you're getting a bargain. *That said, I will admit that the time it takes to do waxes varies based on your hair and skin type so the statement prior is specifically based on my experience.* The salon is clean and has a variety of skincare products that you can buy to take home with you which is convenient. It's also easy to navigate their website and make an appointment online either with your favorite esthetician, a female/male esthetician, or ANY esthetician. Additionally, their prices are just so competitive for the Bay Area. Lastly, they have their own little parking lot in addition to street parking on a fairly calm street so parking is easy to find. My only issue with Glow is that they don't always answer the phone or return messages. However, I think this might be more related to staffing issues and not so much that they're choosing not to answer the phone. Overall, I recommend Glow for your next wax!

As a mom of four, I don't have the time to keep coming back for something that should have been done properly the first time. Overall, this was a frustrating experience, and I won't be returning. I'd recommend sticking with an esthetician you trust.

Nobody rushed me with "hello what do you want" or shoved a color wall in my face before I even sat down. I actually felt like a person, not just another number to get in and out. It wasn't until I was sitting there that I realized how used to bad treatment I'd gotten. Other salons trained me without me even noticing, packed into a tiny space, treated like I'm on a conveyor belt, rushed out before my nails even had time to properly dry. I had honestly forgotten my time and my experience mattered. Delane's brought that back for me. The professionalism was on another level too. No games with the price going up if you don't tip in cash, which is honestly tacky and rude and tells you exactly how little they think of their customers. Nobody crowding me in next to three other people either. It was calm, it was peaceful, it actually felt relaxing instead of stressful. And the cleanliness. Towels were fresh, equipment looked properly cleaned, none of that murky blue water sitting in a dirty container that's clearly been there for who knows how long. Even the bathroom was clean, and that alone tells you a lot about how a place is really run. Once you go to Delane's and get treated with that kind of value and respect, you won't want to go back to anywhere else. And honestly, you shouldn't have to. Ask for Brandi.

I opted for a combination gel manicure and gel pedicure, which was amazing! The best part is almost always the warm foot bath, massage, hot stone massage and hot towels! When it came to the manicure, it's actually a dry manicure, which I've never had before, nor have I ever heard of them! Let me tell you, there is such a thing as a dry manicure and I prefer this way better than a wet manicure. I have eczema, so I am very selective of nail salons and this was great! The different drill bits that Tracy used are to exfoliate the cuticles and around your nail bed, so minimal cutting/trimming is done. I made another appointment through their website for 07.13.26, again with Tracy, to have my gel manicure and gel pedicure removed and this time chose the combination classic manicure and classic pedicure. Basic treatments as before except for regular polish, not gel. Loved every minute of it! I would highly recommend this place! Convenient location. It's near a parking garage or there is street parking. The service and quality is great! The people are nice. It is a bit pricey, but worth it. Thank you Tracy for a great experience!

It was easy to schedule an appointment through their website. I am so happy I did and can't wait for my next manicure! I decided to go back to my natural nails so I got an acrylic removal and a gel manicure. I can't state enough how impressed I was with their attention to detail during the entire experience. They did not rush through the process and took their time to paint on the nail design I requested. I sometimes don't have a ton to chat about but everyone was nice and let me sit quietly listening to the music and watching people queue on the boba line outside. Needless to say, I highly recommend.
