The manicures were ok. Although I don't like when they thin out the nail polish. The problem I ran into was when I had my eyebrows waxed. There are signs all over the salon about how they do waxing, so I thought I would kill 2 birds with one stone. When she (same lady that did my nails, but probably not a licensed aesthetician) pulled the wax strip off my skin I had NEVER had it hurt so bad. She didn't use one hand to pull the skin tight while the other hand pulls the strip. I've had waxing done for 20 years, I know how this is supposed to work. By the time I got to my car and looked in the mirror, I had a blood blister underneath my eyebrow that lasted almost a week. Boy was it not worth it to save time here! read more

My favorite by far is Lan, she does a really meticulous job on your manicure and pedicure. Her waxing job is superb by far. I wouldn't have it any other ways. I walked in and made an appt for the following day. I KNEW that they closed at 7pm, but asked if I could still get a fill & spa pedi if I got there around 6:10 since I work close, but off at 6pm. Lee told me is was "Ok" and I asked again - just to make sure . . . I can't get her until about 10 after, and he reassured me it was ok. This was my first time there. I walked in the following day to a very welcoming staff . . . Lee did my nails first and was super fast . . . I got worried when he was done in about 23 minutes, figured they would look like crap (or worse, lift). They were smooth and looked awesome. So far - no lifting. My pedicure was AWESOME. I love love love the salt/ whatever scrub along with a massage. Then the cooling stuff then put on your legs! Freakin rocks! Felt it for about 20 minutes after. $47 for both. I was also looking for a nice purple for my toes, and Lee helped he find a cool one - I wanted it NOT light and he found the perfect one :) GRIPE: If I could take it down half of a star, I might . . . I have the pink & white nails - and Lee didn't offer to "cut the line" and fill in the white. I don't mind the way it looks . . . but not sure why he didn't ask. He also did not glue the back of my nails . . . mine are super thin and peel away. I asked him to trim one that was bad before I left and he filed it down. I had to trim many of them today (Saturday) and will be gluing them myself. Will I go back? Heck yea! Fill & pedi - done in less than an hour! read more

I've gotten my nails done here a few times and have had good experiences. However, my last visit I brought my roommates to get an acrylic gel manicure. The sign clearly states, "Acrylic Gel $35" on the window. After we were done, we went to pay and she claimed my French gel was $50. We asked why the sign says a different price, and she said that the sign was from 30 years ago. Don't understand why they are falsely advertising. I have been coming here for almost 10 years now. It is, by far, the best nail salon in Burlingame. The entire team is incredibly welcoming and accommodating, and my friends and I are always greeted by name (Lee is the kindest soul with the best memory)! Without a doubt, the top notch experience here is unbeatable. Vicky tends to do my nails and she is just amazing. The experience she has is so obvious in her work and she never fails to amaze me. She always remembers my preferences without fail! The last time I got my nails done, I got French tips, and they lasted me a whopping 2.5 months (the nails were grown out, but the gel itself stayed completely instant, it was remarkable). I will continue to come here and support their small business. Getting your nails done at an unfamiliar place can be scary - but rest assured, Vicky and the team always take care of their customers and make sure they are leaving happy! I have been going to get my nails done here for a few years now but I decided to write a review finally because of my experience today. I use my hands a lot in my hobby as a designer and sometimes I end up taking the nails off. What this means, is that eventually I need a new set but also means, I stay away longer than the usual two week fill required visit. Today I got a new set and pedicure, and it had been more than a month since my last visit. When I arrived, they were so happy and accommodating, making me feel special. They make you feel like you are part of their "family" ...its the only way I can think to explain it. Sometimes it can be intimidating when you first walk in to a salon, when there is no one that greets you and everyone stares at you....but not here. Lee is usually the first to greet you and always with a cheerful hello. He remembers your name too! Lee did my nails and Vivian my pedicure today, and yet that didn't stop the other girls ( Diane and Mimi) from coming over to say hello and catch up on what I have been doing. Diane and Mimi are also very good and so I know that when I go in, no matter who is available, the service and professionalism will be consistent and fabulous. The shop itself has also been remodeled, and a new addition of a hair salon is now available to the customer. Its a one-stop salon that provides waxing, facials, massage and now hair! They have quite a few massage chairs and a very large screen TV on the wall. The prices are very affordable and parking is in abundance both on the street and a parking lot right across the street from the shop. You can call for an appointment or walk in off the street and they will do what they can to take care of you. I usually go in last minute and around 6pm but they have even taken me as late as 6:45 , and the shop closes at 7pm. This means they stayed late and they have never turn me away! There are a few nail shops in the area of which I have walked in to see prices and get a feel for their atmosphere. They are competitively priced and very nice inside, but parking was more of a challenge and I didnt feel that they offered the comfortable and friendly "welcoming family" environment. Ok so my newly engaged best friend and I decided to have a girls day out so after lunch we decided to look for a nail place around san bruno/millbrae. We had one hell of a day in finding a nail pace but after ditching one nail place (not naming the place) we came across Vicky's Nails in burlingame, nice area. There was a wait of half an hour but no big deal. We came back and were seated right away and my bff also ordered a bikini wax and according to her, it was quick and great. The owner Lee I believe is wonderful and even asked our first names and the nail people were super nice. For once I don't think they spoke in a different language the whole time so that was comforting. This place really tries to get to know their customers. I am definitely coming back here. I'm not one of Burlingame's Rich and Famous. I don't leave extravagant tips, but I do what I can and I'm certainly not stingy. I go here for waxing and the occasional mani. They do a decent job, but aren't friendly at all. During a previous visit, my card was snatched out of my hand before I could ask to add tip, and they must have remembered that (even though they never bothered to remember me before), because when I went last time, they were incredibly rude and dismissive.The lady doing my manicure HAD HER HEADPHONES IN, so if I had wanted something done differently, she couldn't have heard me. Post-mani, I reached down for my purse because she clearly wasn't paying attention enough to help. She looked up, got a scared expression on her face, and snapped "Be careful!". A minute passed and she rolled her eyes and asked if I needed help. I declined and smudged a nail. An older couple (obviously regulars) was seated in front of the two UV driers. The woman was waiting for her mani to dry and the man was waiting for her. He started to get up when he saw me headed over, asking if he needed to move. Lee immediately told him no and put me in front of a TINY LITTLE FAN to dry my nails. I sat there FOREVER, and when I paid I gave some extra (even though the lady deserved ZERO), and Lee looked at me disdainfully and said "You want change?", i.e. "You didn't tip last time, so I'm assuming you're cheap." I said no and chipped ANOTHER nail on my way out of the shop because the little fan didn't dry my mani properly. Bottom line: Don't expect them to give you the five-star service people rave about unless you come there every week and leave a lavish tip every time. read more

This has been my go to place since 2002. I have done a lot of traveling, and been to a few different states, but nothing compares to coming home, visiting family, and having a girls day at Vicky's. I trust all the ladies here with my eyebrows and when I can I get my mani pedis here too. It is clean, it is friendly, and no where else do they know me by name and know the happenings in my life. I love hearing Lee asking me where I am traveling next, or where is my mom now a days - THAT is awesome customer service. I consider this place as close to a 'family' as one can get with a business. Can't comment on the acrylics or gels - I am not a fan of those, but I am sure they do a great job too. read more

Vicky Nails was NOT sanitary, and had really low quality manicures (so bad I took mine off when I got home!) which wasn't even acceptable for the price. Don't waste your time or money here. My friend and I got mani pedis here for $25 each, which we thought was a good deal until we realized exactly what we were getting. First of all, Vicky Nails uses the foot spas that are attached to the chairs so they are hard to clean out.... and easy to catch foot fungus in. Yuck! But that could easily have been overlooked had the rest of our experience been good... Secondly, the nail files and heel scrubs that they used on us were USED! Other customers, who may have had some sort of infection or gross disease, had used the SAME nail file and heel scrub as was touching me! GROSS! Believe it or not, I am not usually a clean freak. Just, the idea of having nasty yellow fungus on my fingers is really awful. Awful. I got a pretty nice pedicure which I was excited about, and the people there were nice. Unfortunately, my manicure was HIDEOUS. The lady took about 1 minute for the entire manicure. And you could tell. She missed almost half of some nails and she painted my skin. Maybe the other parts of the salon are nicer, but I won't be going back, and I certainly won't recommend going for nails. read more

This nail salon is on a side street off of Broadway. I moved down the street and had a chance to check out a few of the nail salons in the area. This one is definitely the cheapest ($20 pedicure and ~$24 gel manicure). The man who works there (I think he's the owner) is SUPER nice and has remembered my name since the first time I came. All the ladies are very sweet. They always have the most up to date magazines (People magazine) which makes a big difference when you're sitting there bored for an hour. They're not as fancy as the other salons but they are clean and get the job done. The only thing I wished they had was more gel colors but they have enough (probably around 30-40 colors) to veer me to go there instead of anywhere else. read more

So far, so good! I hadn't had a pedicure for 2 years! Instead of mocking me in Vietnamese like they did on Seinfeld, these ladies were very sweet. I got a fantastic pedicure with a wonderful salt scrub. My feet look excellent. I also had a French manicure--it was a nice, professional job and is lasting very well so far. I love this place! I come once every six weeks or so for my toes and a quick manicure. Age has afforded me the lack of a clear shot to my toes and being in boots most of the time my feet need the attention. I come on Fridays after work. I'll call Lee in the morning and he always greets me with an enthusiastic hello Lisa!!! The girls are so friendly and I have never had to wait. My pedicures always always last that long! Yes 6 weeks and if my toenails wouldn't grow I'd never have to go back! One time I got a newbie. I was a little worried that my pedi wouldn't last but it was great! My polish never ever peels! I do manicures too but I only have them cleaned and buffed. I'm a paper pusher and polish just peels right off but the buffs are great they last a week at least!!! I love this nail salon! The owner Lee is so great. I was looking for a new salon and wandered in one afternoon. He was friendly and just the right amount of "talkative". In my experience nail technicians either are completely silent and just focus on your nails or try too hard to force conversation. Lee was somewhere in between... asking a few conversational questions and allowing for silence. Also you can tell he really takes pride in what he does. Once on my way home after a pedicure I managed to gouge up the polish on my big toe. I came back the next day and asked if he could fix it. He did it for me right away and insisted on redoing the whole nail. He said "It has to be perfect!" After my first visit he always welcomed me into the shop by name. He has always worked me in even when you can tell he's backed up. The one time that someone else did my nails he checked in with me to make sure I was happy with her. I always go for a pedicure with pretty flowers painted on top and gel shellack nails which typically last me 3 weeks or a little longer. Lee, the front desk man, is the absolute sweetest and always greets his guests as soon as they enter. He takes the time to get to know you and the rest of the team are made up of sweethearts who are very attentive and keep an extra eye out for the small details.
