My friends and I love supporting different nail salons. We decided to check out Today's Nails for mani pedis. I was pleasantly surprised by how sweet the staff was! We originally only made appointments for pedicures but asked if they could squeeze us in for manicures as well when we were there. They stayed later than their normal business hours to accommodate us. The total for my pedicure with gel & just gel polish on my nails was $66. The total for my friends basic pedicure with no polish was $30. I think the price is very fair for the Peninsula area. I also wanted to note that their hours are actually until 6pm as of today. I'd suggest calling in to check their hours when before coming in, because it differs from the hours on Yelp and Google. The worst experience ever. The pictures attached say it all. I spent 1.5 hours here to see that the top of every nail has a dark line. When I pointed it out, the owner said: so what do you want me to do?!!!! Really? Am I supposed to tell them how to fix my nails after they messed it up? She didn't stop and literally kicked me out of the salon not wanting to fix her job. She was probably afraid other customers will see what she did. A few days later all my nails became dark (the color supposed to be light blue), a week later they looked ... well, see the pictures... The worse part for me is I have to spend another 2 hours of my time that I don't have fixing what this salon did for me! Please stay away. read more

First time here and Rose was very nice and polite. She was probably the friendliest manicurist I had ever met at an Asian nail salon and I had been to too many to count. She even asked for my name and where I came from to start a basic conversation. Another lady worker filed and trimmed my nails but then told me I had to wait for Rose (took about 15mins) to color them (not sure why) as Rose was still working with another client. It was probably because I was a walk-in client and the lady who trimmed my nail was getting ready to help another client with a pedicure. One thing that did kind of bother me was when the lady who filed my nails was cleaning the inside of my nails. Right between filing my nails, she used the same filer on her own nails and then continued to proceed to mine. It felt pretty unsanitary but luckily, she washed my nails with other products and then gave me a hand massage afterwards. Then I waited for Rose to color in my nail beds. It worked out well because I was able to engage in a small conversation with Rose. She applied a total of five layers to my nails. First one was clear, then she applied two layers of the polish of my choice, followed by another clear layer, and lastly, an oil base to help dry my nails quicker (unlike Four Seasons Nail Salon nearby which literally applied only ONE total polish layer and never checked up on me afterwards). Rose even checked on my nails numerous of times to make sure they were okay. I would recommend coming here for a manicure since the staffs were very friendly and professional. It cost $12 for a basic manicure before tips. I would encourage anyone coming here to make an appointment in advance as it seemed like the workers really do care to know their clients and would appreciate it if they had a time slot to work with us. read more

I drive from San Bruno because the hospitality and service is so good. The owner is always gracious, welcoming, has every color you want, provides services asked for promptly, asks how your day was, is just genernally a really nice person but a wonderful wonderful business. Goes above and beyond to make my money feel like it's being used wisely. I finally got my first desperately-needed pedicure since sheltering in place. I love how clean and careful Today's Nails was. Masks are required inside the salon. Upon entering, I had my temperature checked and was asked to sanitize my hands. I was required to sign in (new regulations), and there was a plexiglass barrier between my chair and the nail tech. Rose did a great job on my pedicure. She was very welcoming and super friendly. I'm SO happy I can wear sandals again, and I will definitely be back again soon. read more

I'd never gotten a pedicure done, and it was time. My toenails looked like something out of a devil workshop or witches coven, two dead blackened thickened nails, jagged edges ... ugghhh. I wouldn't have blamed them had they turned me away. I mainly went in for that--no polish (cuz I like to do my own). But I figured while where, I'll also splurge on a basic manicure--no polish. OMG this was everything, not that I have much to compare it to. Hannah or Henna took care of me and I feel went the extra mile in making sure I was happy, She didn't phone it in: took her time in cleaning, filing, buffing, oiling, soaking ... till at the end they came out looking nothing like what I went in with. I'm not posting photos of my nails only because there's no polish and will not like like anything fancy. Then came the manicure, with the same basic steps as the pedicure, but since I have a nervous habit of picking at my cuticles, I figured at the end I'd ask her about applying a simple clear polish, which she eagerly agreed to. I loved the three step process, which I believe was gel. Btw, when she was finished with the pedicure, she asked twice about polishing, even with clear, which I refused--but I so loved that she cared enough to ask. During the manicure, I had a moment which I must tell about: she was taking the time to massage each finger and seemed to be genuinely leaning into the experience, and for me I had a sudden inexplicable and unexpected moment of teary, tenderness, feeling such gratitude that I got to sit there and be the beneficiary of her generosity. Sure I could interpret it that she was just doing her job, but that wasn't what I came away with. The place is small and bare bones, no frill whatsoever. But they get the job done beautiful, efficiently and effectively. The cost was incredibly reasonable--for both pedicure and manicure with clear polish on just the manicure it was $47, on top of which I gave a $30 tip. Very conveniently located across Pape's Meat Market. Highly recommend. read more

Their entire nail polish collection is OPI. They have a great range of colors. Not sure which brand they use for shellac. Parking is easy. I've been to Today's Nails twice now, and each time the ladies were professional and personable. They keep their personal chatting down to a minimum to none, which is quite refreshing. Today I received a mani/pedi from Nam-Amy is her English name. She is so sweet and precise. My hands and toes look evenly painted, cuticles are clean and not mangled. I'm quite pleased. The overall experience was relaxing. Total cost was $30. Minus one star for the overall lack of interior shop appearance. A couple of friends and I decided to get manis/pedis ($30) since we were in the Millbrae area. We Yelp'd a few other places previous to this location, but they were the only place that could accommodate an appt. for three people around 1:30PM & so we went. We walk in and the three ladies present get started on us right away. I decided to get French tip($5 charge) full set and pedicure. Unfortunately I forgot to get the name of the lady who did my pedicure, but she did an amazing job! As for the lady who did my full-set not so much. I usually get gel manicures, but since my nails were short I decided to get Acrylic nails. I've gotten Acrylics done before, but this one was disappointing. It felt like she was in a rush & that's why her work on me was not the best. First off her nail glue was basically empty and she still attempted to use it while she seen the nail barely stayed on. She didn't bother cleaning my cuticles and with the acrylic powder when she applied it on my nails it was not evenly spread out.. One side of my nail would be thicker than the other and some nails weren't fully covered. Also while working on my manicure she would leave and help other customers & them come back to me, forget about the nail she wasn't done filing/shaping, etc. I would have to constantly remind her to fix the other nails & she would continue talking in their language. I ended up paying $60 for my French-tip full set & pedicure. My nails from afar look on point, but when you see them up close some of the tips are not even, you could see acrylic dust particles, & tiny air bubbles. I dont think I would come to this location again, but if I'm ever around the Millbrae area I would try a different place. read more

I just came back from the salon with extremely disappointed heart. I am in search of a new nail salon after my go to place got shut down. I got gel mani and regular pedi which is supposed to be $30 and $35. The lady suggested that I get a callus removal because one my feet is always more rough than the other. She said it was $7 but would get rid of all the callus so I agreed. It was just filing with the hard scrub for like 20 seconds, which is supposed to be included in the pedicure service anyway. When I came home, I realized they didn't even put any cream on my feet afterwards and now my feet are dry as bone already. I gave a good tip because I believe hard working people deserve it, but their upcharge of $7 for 20 seconds scrubbing is turning me down. If their pedi price was $42, I would have been ok. It's just a matter of integrity and I hate feeling of being cheated. I gave 2 stars instead of 1, because their actual result was not too bad. We will see how long it lasts. And my journey for a nail salon has not ended yet. Sigh.. read more

This was my very first time going to this salon. Over the phone the lady seemed very nice... however, the lady (don't know her name) was very rude to my mother and I. She was rushing and she kept saying she was tired and had an attitude when it came to my mother picking a color. As you can see in the pictures she left glue and didn't even take off the old nail polish correctly. In addition, I am 7 months pregnant and when I asked the lady to please fix my mother's nails she started to yell at me and refused to fix her work because she was "tired". She also charged me $228 on my card when she had told me she would charge me $190. She lied and overcharged on my card only for two acrylic sets and a pedicure. Totally ridiculous. As first time clients my mother and I felt very disrespected and disappointed. I do not recommend this place at all. Overall the other ladies that did my nails were very kind as they should be. Anyway, I am very sadden that this had to happen to my mother and I because we were looking forward to a nice relaxing time getting our nails done but it turned out to be very stressful. No pregnant woman should ever get yelled at, specially when I was being respectful about the situation. My mother deserved a better job than this. I started going to Today's Nails when I was a teenager (I'm 34 now). After college, I moved away for almost 8 years, and when I returned to Today's Nails, Rose still remembered my name!! They're part of San Mateo County's Certified Healthy Nail Salon program (safer products and practices for both customers and employees), their prices are very reasonable, and they give an amazing pedicure massage. Of course the quality of their work is as great as it's always been, the shop is clean, and they're just as friendly as ever. I try to make appointments when I can, but they're always super flexible with walk-ins as well. Also, street parking is usually pretty easy, but there's a large free parking lot a block away if you're ever struggling.
