Okay love love love! New nail shop for me! They did a gel mani and pedi for $45 The ladies working here are so professional and sweet! Customer service is beyond any nail saloon I have been to lately. At the end I didn't like my toe polish color and asked to just have polish removed. This is the place I go to if I need a quick nail fix and manicure if I'm not in the city. Not the most fanciest place or very clean...but it does get the job done and its super cheap. I got a quick mani and nail fix for $12. They have three ladies that work there, the owner Vicky, is the best. She super talented and knows how to design. One thing I really don't like is they use gloves while they clean up your nails and while filing, so it all over the gloves THEN with the SAME gloves they rub lotion all over your hands as a finish touch then paint your nails....it is kind of gross and dirty. I was a bit skeptical getting my nails did because upon reading the bad reviews, I was worried my stepdaughter and I were going to get mediocre pedicures. Well, as soon as our feet were dipped in nice, hot bubbly water, I started to relax a bit. The ladies who did our pedicures were very detailed and I have to say, the leg massage I received was delish. It wasn't rushed at all. She actually spent a lot of time on each leg. Not only did she put lotion, she mixed it with oil and it was just so sensual! When they painted our toes, they took care to paint every little detail. I really appreciated their mannerisms; they were friendly, smiled, but didn't converse in another language that made me feel they could be talking about me. I'm so happy I've found this little gem in our neighborhood. I will definitely be a regular patron...since I can't bend over with this baby bump to do my own toes! read more

I'm giving 1 star just because the ladies were nice. I went last week for a gel manicure. 4 days now and the gel started to chip! I've had gel on my nails last year and they used to last for 3 weeks. Now after 4 days, the gel is going away? I'm ashamed of my nails! I'm not going to this place anymore! The other reviews are right: the chairs are old and over-used, the gel UV lamp they used with me was over-used/damaged (they used some duct tape on it). There were nail polish all over the place: UV lamp, furniture, all around the nail polish bottles. For me this looked like they do not care too much of their own tools and place. The review that says about the sterilized tools is true: they brought the tools from another room in a small wood basket - not sure if they were sterilized or not. Anyways, I knew this wasn't the most fancy place, but it was closer to my house. I was expecting a better manicure, considering the reviews! I will not recommend this place if you care about your nails and how they look. Update 8/6/2013: in the photo there is just one nail... but in fact other nails are in the same situation. read more

After a few yelp searches, I found myself parked outside of V&V Nails, walked in, and met Vivien who was the only person working. It was empty. Should I be worried? Well, I was... But all that changed! I had one of the best pedicures ever! The most amazing part was when she massaged my legs. It was a long massage and she focused on making my calfs feel like mush. Let me count the ways I manage to mess up my perfectly polished nails 5 minutes after getting up from the massage chair: 1. Getting out of the massage chair 2. Getting my wallet out of my purse to pay 3. Signing the receipt 4. Going to the bathroom and trying to zip/unzip my jeans 5. Opening the door to leave and then opening the car door 6. Trying to put on my seat belt ... and the list goes on Seriously, how am I supposed to protect my nails from chips, scrapes, and nicks? Somehow even 2 hrs AFTER getting them done, I hit something with a little too much umph and get a dent. DAMNNIT!!! Thankfully, V&V has a gel polish that lasts a whole 2 weeks! I'm 1 week in and it still looks brand spankin new! Woot woot! The polish sets in 5 mins after sitting in the UV light and you are good to go! Its $20 for the gel manicure along with a $20 pedicure. This is my go-to nail salon whenever I go to Millbrae and feel the need for pampering. It is a small establishment with no frills so don't expect a freaking spa when you come in. I paid $30 pre-tip for a mani/pedi. They didn't charge me extra for using different colors on my toes and fingers, which was nice since I know some places actually do that. The last time I was here, my mani lasted me for about a month. It didn't chip off or anything and my friends all thought I got the gel polish I was a walk-in and waited for about 45 minutes before I had a turn. The two girls were working on 4 different people and were doing a mighty fine job. They don't talk on the phone or to one another while they are working. They chat with the customers, but don't overdo it. While you're getting your pedicure, you get to sit in a massage chair that comes with a remote control. That's a nice perk. The entire salon isn't very fancy, but certainly not as dingy or dirty as some unhappy reviewers made it out to be. They say that there was nail polish all over the place...girl, I was sitting there for over an hour looking around for stray polish and only saw some on the trash can. Also, I was talking with some very loyal customers (upwards of 6 years) about how they looove coming here and how their gel lasts forever. I was looking at their fingers pre-manicure and thought they already got it done and were just waiting for their pedicure. They said nope and that these gel manis last close to a month. Everyone has very different lives so I don't know why some people's polish last longer than others. I work with my hands every day and am pretty clumsy so when my polish stays longer than a couple of days, I'll happily return to the salon that did my long-lasting mani. You'll have to deal with finding free street parking. There is no private lot for V & V Nails. read more

Came in today with a friend since she wanted a mani and we were heading back to the city from CSM anyways so I suggested why not give this place a try. I saw this cute nail spot when bf got his jeans altered right next door! We walked in and there were two workers working. Perfect since there were two of us! We settled down for our colors, friend went for pink and I of course chose a dark color. The lady told me the color I picked wasn't the kind of "dark" I wanted so she chose Linkin Park After Dark (OPI) for me. How nice of her =). Too bad I forgot to ask for her name but when she was giving me my hand a massage I felt like I was going to fall asleep. It was that good! The manicure was a good $12. I was originally going to get my nails done at four seasons across the street but I hadn't made an appointment and they were completely booked for the day so I decided to try this place. My mom and I both got French gel manicures. I also got a regular pedicure while my mom got a French pedicure. Pros: Nice long leg massage. Cons: My gel manicure chipped within 2 days and it had cost more than four seasons across the street. If I wanted a gel manicure, I probably wouldn't go here. read more

Love love love the pedi's I get here! Quick and friendly girls.! The pluses: massage chairs, fairly quiet inside, good selction of colors. They give realty nice leg and foot massages. They also don't sit and talk to each other while you are getting worked on. (I hate that) The drawbacks: finding parking. Waiting when you have an appointment, and only having 2 people working on a weekend. I've been going here for 4 years now. These girls have always been able to fix my toe screw ups. Not my favorite nail place, but I thought I'd give it a try. I came as a walk in, but it was pretty empty on a weekday afternoon. I wanted to get a manicure and pedicure. First one of the ladies directed me to the footbath (imma just call it that because i have no idea what else to call it). The footbath I was directed to was already half filled with dirty water. So they proceed to "flush" the bath and fill it with new water. I was shocked that they didnt even wash that bath again before refilling. Pretty dirty! Considering the other places that I go to wrap their bath in new plastic bags each time. Anyways, I looked past that and enjoyed the pumps in the bath, pretty good foot massage and pedicure. The manicure part came after while my toes were drying and that took even longer. I waited like 20 minutes until someone was free to do my nails. I wanted some glitter and I would say it was done a little on the messy side, but I wasn't too picky because I just wanted to go home at that point. They said I was done after drying for 20 minutes and as i walked to my car, one of my nails got completely ruined. Also, my pedicure didn't even last 1 week. I love this nail salon!! I've been coming here for years and the price/service never changes! It's upgraded, gotten cleaner, and even more people were hired but I always receive the same sweet greeting and thorough service. The prices are super cheap compared to other salons that perform the same services but all other places are not as consistent as this one. If you're looking for a quick eyebrow wax or good mani/pedi, stop in at this place. The emloyees treat you very well and this is the first salon I've been to where the employees don't constantly chat with each other incessantly. A reviewer of another salon said, "If you think they (emloyees) are talking about you, they are." There is nothing to worry about here because these women are professional. I got a gel manicure done here yesterday for the first time with 2 of my other friends. The place was clean, comfortable and simple. There were only 2 nail techs and 4 people including my friends and I in the salon so we had to wait for a little. Overall I like the look of my nails, they had a good range of color selections and glitters which I really liked. I like the way my nails look and they got the job done quick. My mani pedi seemed really great. Looked good, felt good. Until about 2 weeks later when I discovered ingrown toenails on each side of my big toes that I'd never had before. I mean I guess I got what I deserved because the whole thing was really cheap, but it's still no excuse.
