    The last nights bonfire

Second year of spending Spring Break here - what a wonderful little gem to camp at! If you are so fortunate to stay in 1C you will be surrounded by soothing sounds of the Toccoa River and a creek that joins it both night and day . The bath house/showers are so clean and nice and the owners are very friendly and strive to keep the place clean and neat! Perfect place to bring your family as no alcohol is allowed - so no loud and boisterous parties happening late into the night. Very Pet friendly!

This spot is one of the best campgrounds I've been to. Very clean and cute, with a great staff a small store with any essentials you may have forgotten. Gina is super welcoming and has a ton of awesome suggestions for food or adventures in the area. I will definitely be back!!

    Campsite #10

Though they are better known for their tubing business, the stay at campsite #10 was phenomenal. This site backs up to a bamboo forest where the sun shines through and you can relax to the sounds of the Toccoa river rushing about 25 yards away. Gina and Ray stay busy meticulously cleaning and showing campers great hospitality. The stack of firewood is impressive-$10 bucks for a wheelbarrow full. Can't wait for our next stay!

    Tube life!

Toccoa Valley Campground didn't disappoint! The best price around for a couple of hours of fun! We took our 10, 8,7, and 4 year olds down the river and had a blast. The trip took about an hour and a half yesterday and it was perfect for our kids. Not too rough but fast enough to be fun and have some rapids. We didn't get the push sticks and were fine but they could've been handy couple of times, especially when one of the kids' tubes were lashed to ours. It would've helped keep us out of a tree or two. All three of the younger kids took turns with both adults and by themselves. The 10 year old stayed ahead of us most of the time. The campground is so nice and they have everything you need. Even a waterproof case for our phones. Will definitely be back if we're up this way and recommend it to anyone with kids.

Tubing down the Toccoa River is a must do, and you must do it with Toccoa Valley Campground! This two hour, six mile float down the Toccoa River with my teenagers was the highlight of our trip to North Georgia! We definitely recommend that someone in your party get a canoe! I wish that I could share the video of my daughter and I getting "stuck" on a rock and my son, in a canoe, pulling us loose! We laughed so hard (ALL six miles) that our bellies hurt! I said all of that to say this, you definitely have to do this! It was amazing fun! You start up River and get out down river. There is a precious little lady that will take you back to your vehicle as well! It really was too much fun! Do it!

    LOVED IT!!!

Cooper Creek Campground is absolutely the most beautiful, off the beaten path, places I've ever…read moretraveled and it's practically in Atlanta's back yard! Located on the beautiful and noisy Cooper/Mulky Creek just an hour north of Dahlonega up Hwy 60 and then up some of the most beautiful and winding mountain roads that make you think you're never going to get there! By the time you turn on to Forest Service Rd 236 (a beautiful and peaceful dirt mountain road that climbs up through the pine and hardwood forests), you realize there is something amazing waiting for you. And there is. Cooper Creek Campground is like reaching a little slice of heaven. Fifteen campsites scatter through out the lush forest, and five of them sit right on the banks of Cooper/Mulky Creek. I advise getting there early during the week so you can get a creek side spot ... there is nothing like it! The creek is rocky and noisy and if you fish, the trout are plentiful! I walked the loop and all of the campsites were beautiful and within easy walking distance to the creek. As a solo hiker and camper, I chose spot #1 for the way the creek opened up and the trees opened up around my tent site to give me a clear view of a beautiful moon. I also liked the quiet solitude of this site ... few cars passed here since it's on the back loop. The campground hosts also live two spots up. As an avid (delirious almost) rock stacker, I fell in love with this creek. The rocks are amazing and perfect for stacking and balancing. It was so relaxing I stacked till after dark and was up just after sunrise stacking again! The pine cones in camp are plentiful, so I got a good pine smoke going and didn't have the first mosquito or black fly. I'm telling you ... this place is heaven! After dark a bunch of deer came through my camp and lapped at the creek for almost a half hour. Two fawns frolicked in the fern thickets next to my tent for a while and were bouncing around like puppies! With the light of the moon, I felt like I had a front row seat for natures big show that night! Also, there are synchronous fireflies here, which surprised me. Just after dark during the Summer Solstice, I thought it was kids playing with flashlights, but it was fireflies, all blinking in unison! It was amazing! I can't WAIT to go back! In fact, now that I'm home, I'm missing it. Cooper Creek is open year round and keep their gates open 24 hours a day. You won't get a phone signal here, so you may as well turn it off ... the solitude is amazing! Each site has a tent pad, grills, lantern pole and a picnic table. There are also bear bins that are an easy walk from each site for discarding trash. For hikers, you won't be disappointed. There are five interconnected trails that start in or near the camping area (Yellow Mountain Trail- 3.2 miles, Connector Trail- 0.4 miles, Mill Shoals Trail- 0.9 miles, Shope Gap Trail- 0.6 miles, and Cooper Creek Trail- 1.7). I found myself hiking in and out and exploring trail after trail. The abundance of trees at Cooper Creek keep the temperatures down, much cooler than up on the main road. I paid $10 a night for my site. There are faucets for drinking water and there are two vaults for bathrooms. There are no electric hook ups or dump stations. Primitive camping at it's finest! There are no reservations ... everything is first come, first serve. Have fun everyone!

There are restrooms right next to the visitor center. There are two playgrounds on the other side of the visitor center with loads of picnic tables to sit at! Parks are in full shade. The official archway for the trail is directly behind the visitor center so be sure to catch your picture there! The big stocked pond was nice! Loads of dead fish floating and garbage which wasn't the best but not overwhelmingly horrible just could use some clean up. The trail leading up to the base of the falls is steep but well paved and maintained with a couple of seating areas along the way to catch your breath. We somewhat cheated and skipped the steps after we saw the base we turned around, drove up the street across from the visitor center and stopped midway up the falls to see another view half way up the falls on a bridge (check in the woods when you walk to this bridge there is a truck stuck in the woods and a tree is literally growing around it!) then we got back in the car and drove to the top! We may have skipped the stairs but we felt we truly got to enjoy the experience with the 3 little ones 5 and under haha. The top most viewing platform, not the bridge over top, was closed for construction when we went mid April. The lodge at the stop is strikingly beautiful!

This was our first experience staying in an RV park and it set the bar very, very high!…read more We've loved visiting the Blue Ridge area for years and usually rent a house/cabin when we're there. This time, some family members were joining us on our vacation (their first time in Blue Ridge!) and since they have a large motorhome, we thought it would be more convenient if we stayed nearby. Since the Blue Ridge Toccoa River KOA offers cabins as well as RV and tent camping sites, we booked one of the dog friendly cabins for our week-long stay. Having had mixed experiences renting cabins through the local rental agencies, I wasn't sure what to expect, but from the moment we walked into the office to check in and during our short drive across the park to the cabin, I started to think we would be quite happy with our choice. First, some info on the location itself: - opened in/around 2020, so fairly new - situated directly on the Toccoa River - RV, tent and cabin options with some RV sites being paved and some graveled - very pet friendly, with a dog park available to all dogs and some RV sites having their own small dog park - play areas for children, a pool, showers and laundry facilities on site - just a couple of miles from downtown Blue Ridge and about a mile from a grocery store The location is in pristine condition. Beautifully maintained, it still looks like it just opened yesterday. All the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful and it's obvious that they take pride in their business and in providing excellent (and proactive) customer service. Here's a great example - during the middle of the week, we were in downtown Blue Ridge for lunch with our family and they got a call from the staff. It was a windy day and they had their canopy out at their RV. The staff noticed that, went to the RV to see if they were inside and, getting no answer, called them to alert them. Our family members, being long-time RVers, were quite impressed that the staff took that extra step. Fortunately, they have a canopy that's flexible so didn't need to rush back. The cabin we rented was on the river and afforded us a wonderful view. The cabins aren't large (think "tiny house") but ours was sparkling clean and had everything we could want. The staff had supplied kitchen towels, soap, sponge, paper towels, plates, cups and plastic utensils, along with a starter set of coffee. Since we're used to rental cabins, we always bring our own lates/cups/utensils and coffee, creamer, filters, etc. There were some basic pots and pans, a toaster, a microwave, full sized oven/stove and fridge. Two rocking chairs, a side table and very nice (and very clean!) Weber grill complete the front porch. As weather can vary wildly in the mountains during the spring, we used the heat AND the air settings on the two units in the cabin on different days. The units are wall mounted in the main bedroom and main living area and both worked well to keep us comfortable. This was a terrific first experience for us and we'll be back.

KOA RV Parks all are fairly standard which takes some of the guesswork out of booking in advance…read more But they are sometimes more expensive than the standard RV a park. This is a moderately small RV park with either regular or upgrade type sites-the only difference being somewhat of a view and a fire pit. There is a convenience store with snacks, RV supplies, cute items and some basic items. It would be handy being able to stop in for these items. They also sell propane which is really nice. There was a pool but I don't think it was open because of winter. This KOA RV Park only allows a 14 days stay to allow more guests to visit the area.
