Nice hiking and beautiful leaves. Great staff. The lake is so relaxing to sit by. You could go for the day or stay for a week and have a great time at any age.

Vogel State Park in Blairesville, GA is a great stop. They have a lake you can swim in a miniature golf course and cabins you can rent. It's also a great park to pitch a tent and camp out. They have a little shop that sells souvenirs and camping essentials.

Vogel State Park is Georgia's second oldest state park, founded in 1931. The first? Indian Springs State Park, also founded in 1931. There was actually a lot of road construction on the highway leading to Vogel which slowed things down. Hopefully that was just a limited-time situation. As with all the state parks, there's a $5 entry fee. We parked by the visitors center and then walked over to the Bear Hair Gap Trail trailhead. Out of 4 different trails, Bear Hair Gap is a 4.1 mile partial loop with some views at an overlook. A fair amount of signage seemed to be missing which was annoying. No bear encounters. My favorite aspects were strolling by the stream and looking at the wildflowers! Besides hiking, there are plenty of other activities to choose from. The centerpiece Lake Trahlyta (a mid-1930s product of the Civilian Conservation Corps) was busy. The numerous cabins were pretty occupied. I noticed a mini-golf course. And there's always picnicking and just hanging out with family in the great outdoors.

Beautiful Sate Park with a lot of camp hosts all around and a store that is well stocked with everything you could possibly need during your stay except the firewood that wasn't dry at all, just smoke and not enough heat to have a nice fire but of course how can I get a refund on that, just have to eat it I guess. We originally booked site 38 that was available and when I did the booking I thought I was lucky to find a pull through, really? no! nobody wants this site because the road goes uphill and the site being a pull through has the same incline as the road so no matter in which direction you park you will never be level. The utilities are on the side next to the road so the logic is to go all they way to the loop and come back to park downhill, under this conditions there is just no way in hell somebody can level a motorhome, not even with automatic leveler and blocks together. Whoever designed this campground had never been camping period. Not all sites are level but if you are lucky they will let you move to a better spot if available, the lady in the office was awesome because she gave me a list of all the available sites and I went around and chose site 9 no issues there like the previous night. 38.52 per night no sewer was ok while we were on business near Blairsville Do not take site 38 at two dollars over the regular sites. When asked for a refund was told State Parks don't issue refunds, you chose your site you live with it Took one star for the ripoff site 38 and another for the firewood being cut in July or early August Minus 15 stars to the camp designer 5 stars to the people in the store

This is a gorgeous state park nestled in the mountains in the Chattahoochee National Forest. We stopped by heading back from Murphy, NC and loved the gorgeous views of the mountains and the lake. It had recently snowed so there was still snow on the ground which added to the beauty. We walked the loop trail around the lake which can lead you down to view Trahlyta Falls. The trail leading down was a little scary since there was still some ice and mud from melting snow, but it wasn't too difficult and the view of the falls was worth it. There are cabins at the park and additional trails with varying difficulty levels and lengths. I'd love to come back when it's a bit warmer to experience some of the lake activities and walk some of the other trails. The park is definitely worth a stop to take in the beautiful landscape and you could easily enjoy a weekend here exploring.

First time there. We only did a drive through. It was crowded and all the camping sites and tent sites were full. The park employees are all very nice. There is a lot of places to walk and is not strenuous for older people. There are also plenty of more strenuous trails for those that want to do it

Beautiful state park where you can camp or rent their hard site cabins. There is a little lake and a water fall (Falls bottom) which is a very easy walk. My mom worked here for years, so I have way too many things that say "Vogel State Park" at this point. Also, do NOT leave good out because there are black bears who come around frequently. Don't be the reason they have to put down a black bear.

Vogel is located at the base of Blood Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest, and is one of the oldest state parks in Georgia, how cool is that? I'm a sucker for waterfalls views and usually to get to them means I have to exhaust myself. I loved the fact that at Vogel it was the contrary. The trail to get to the waterfall is only 1.1 miles round trip and it's super easy! The trail starts near the visitor center, you can walk from either the left, or right side of the lake until you pass a bridge, and then the real trail begins. The short spur descends and you can immediately hear the sound of rushing water. It's priceless. This waterfall, lake, and trail are named for Trahlyta, a local Cherokee woman who is also buried near this mountains. There's so much stuff to do here. Other than the waterfall, you can also go fishing, hiking, Miniature Golfing, paddling, swimming and so much more. Bike, Kayak, Paddleboard, Pedalboat, & Aquacycle rentals are available! There's plenty of parking available and it's $5 per car. Annual passes are available as well!

Came here for a relaxing camping weekend and was not disappointed. I wanted one of the walk-in tent sites in the main tent area but was disappointed to see they were all booked. Chose instead another tent site listed at the end of the regular trailer camping area and LOVED the spot. Very large area with direct access to the creek running right beside it. Despite the fact that I could park my car right beside the campsite, the other trailers in the area are separated far enough that I couldn't really hear them over the sound of the creek running. Lots of space and trees to hang hammocks and for a dog to enjoy the space. The bathrooms are also all brand new and beautiful. Extremely clean and very well kept. I regularly saw park staff there checking on them to make sure everything was adequately stocked. Best bathrooms/showers at a campground I've ever come across. We also hiked the bear gap trail while we were there and it was a great trail. And of course the lake and waterfall at the park are also beautiful. All in all, I can't wait to come back to this spot again!

We visit Vogel every year in the summer. Usually we reserve a campground spot for our camper, but we've also booked the cabins when visiting with friends. The cabins have been recently renovated and look wonderful, however, the sofa is small, uncomfortable, and upholstered with scratchy fabric. Looks like its the same sofa selected for all of the upgraded cabins too, which is unfortunate. Regardless, you can't beat the views and hiking opportunities at this beautiful park! My husband and I loved coming here so much that after 10 years of visiting, we decided to get married in Blairsville this year. All because of Vogel.

On a cold windy late November day, the park was mine! My fleece and gortex kept me warm while hiking. Georgia has some nice state parks and this is one of them. Basically I use the parks for hiking. Today was short hike around Lake Trahlyta with spur trail to the water falls (pictured). With the recent rains, the falls were beautiful. This was about 1 mile and relatively flat. On previous occasion hiked the nature trail, which is less than a mile and couple hundred feet of elevation. My favorite hike here is the "bear hair gap" trail, which has nice overlook of the lake. It is about 4 miles long with 700 feet of elevation gain. This trail is in the state park and national forest, which is non issue to the hikers, other than the boundary markers as you are hiking. Vogel is on route 19 / 129, which is very scenic drive in North Georgia.

I didn't think I was going to make it through the winding road and sharp turns that lead us to Vogel State Park. I had suggested this as a day drive on a long weekend after reading A fellow Yelpers's review. Honestly, I was so mad at my DH (darling husband) for putting me through that ride and not turning around half way there, that by the time we reached the park I was no longer speaking to him. I am so glad he didn't listen to me. This park is absolutely beautiful, there were so many families there, biking and enjoying the day. The outpost had some really neat little Knick knacks and plenty of essentials if you are staying over night. The restrooms were clean, the grounds were spotless. The lake water was so clean and so was the beach area. We didn't do any of the long trails, however we did walk around the lake and found some really cool mushrooms and plants. We had tons of fun miniature golfing, then eating a picnic by the large pavilion. It was such a beautiful place, I can't wait to go back and spend a couple of days there.

There's way too much to do. Small parking fee. Mini-golf is $5 a person, per course and they've got two 18-hole courses. About a one mile loop around the lake, the end of the loop will take you down to the falls. The rushing water is super peaceful. The observatory deck is small and gets crowded.

Vogel State Park you can only take the best pictures there. Worth the visit

There are restrooms right next to the visitor center. There are two playgrounds on the other side of the visitor center with loads of picnic tables to sit at! Parks are in full shade. The official archway for the trail is directly behind the visitor center so be sure to catch your picture there! The big stocked pond was nice! Loads of dead fish floating and garbage which wasn't the best but not overwhelmingly horrible just could use some clean up. The trail leading up to the base of the falls is steep but well paved and maintained with a couple of seating areas along the way to catch your breath. We somewhat cheated and skipped the steps after we saw the base we turned around, drove up the street across from the visitor center and stopped midway up the falls to see another view half way up the falls on a bridge (check in the woods when you walk to this bridge there is a truck stuck in the woods and a tree is literally growing around it!) then we got back in the car and drove to the top! We may have skipped the stairs but we felt we truly got to enjoy the experience with the 3 little ones 5 and under haha. The top most viewing platform, not the bridge over top, was closed for construction when we went mid April. The lodge at the stop is strikingly beautiful!

My husband and I went to the rodeo tonight. The show was great and as much as I was enjoying it,…read moreThe seating was awful. After being kicked about 50 times from people going up and down the bleachers I was done. Not to mention the amount of REALLY young kids walking back and forth. I have 3 kids of my own and I get they get board but when they are up and down the bleachers multiple times in an hour and I am getting kicked in the back (they are young, not babies) i am not happy. We also paid over $50 for our tickets combined. I was so frustrated I just left. You shouldn't have to tell grown people to watch their kids, but apparently you really should. It wasn't necessarily the park or the event that ruined it but the people that let their kids run wild. I never comment on kids but these were not babies, these were 10 plus that were constantly up and down the cheap bleachers and were totally distracting and also blocking the view. They did ask people that were standing in front to sit down at one point but that didn't help. Simple reminders throughout might help. I won't be going back anytime soon.

Great park for joggers, kids (has playgrounds), party events (complete w/picnic tables & city…read morereservations) and great mountain bike trails. The main loop is flat dirt & gravel but the back trails are definitely for the advanced mountain bikers- so you will get a good work out. (The advanced uphill rugged terrain trails are comparable to Blankets Creek mountain bike trails also in Canton- only it's more desolate there so it can feel creepy if you're by yourself- you start to imagine bears and coyotes & snakes.) The good thing is there are always people around so it's safe park. There's tons of parking being its right next to the high school and on weekends there are always soccer teams playing or people going for a walk.
