I decided I would try the discounted Swedish massage. While relaxing, it was just smoothing hands. The advertisement suggests much more. Look at the inclosed picture. There was no stretching or improved flexibility. Not to mention there are so many covers on the bed, the technician spent as much time fixing them as she did on my body. Also any pressure through the covers was not felt at all. You really get a 39 min or less extremely light massage. I can't handle deep tissue, but I expected some knots to be released. Easy to make a last minute appointment in the middle of August. Got there early as requested and sat awkwardly in a tiny room with 2 other ladies waiting for my massage. The therapist was nice, didn't talk which I appreciate. I've had many massages and this one was just ok. She seemed rushed. I'm not really sure i got the full 50 minutes. Left that room and sat again waiting for the facial. The aesthetician was very nice but honestly I was looking forward to a nice, quiet, relaxing experience and instead she talked through the entire 80 minutes. I know her life story. She told me I was her only client that day so she spent extra time with me. Honestly, I had other plans which I didn't get to because I was there 40 minutes long. It would've been fine but there was more time spent talking and less time doing my facial. When I left , I had dried goop all over my face, in my hair, and I don't feel like any of my concerns were addressed. I hesitate to say anything negative because all employees were very nice but I had to go back to my hotel room and shower to get all the dried sticky products out of my ears, hair, etc and was out over $400, less relaxed than when I arrived and wishing I hadn't spent the money! read more

I had a very nice experience and i really liked my massage therapist. This is a small boutique spa, which makes it co-ed. There is also no shower, unless you use the one at the pool.(outside) You have use of the pool and hot tub. There are no saunas or steam room in the spa itself and, you'll change clothes in a large private bathroom. the staff was amazing and accommodating. My husband and I booked a massage during our staycation. It was so relaxing! Book the couples massage and you won't regret it. We arrived early to change into the nice robes. They took us for a little walk to the room where they do the couple massages. Light was perfect and music was relaxing. Both masseuses asked us what type of massage we wanted and gave us a minute to settle in and we got started. The massage was great and instead of hot stones they got out hot towels that warmed their hands as they gave us the massage - it was fabulous!!! Hands down one of the best massages I've had! My friend and I both had the 80-minute therapeutic treatments, and they were phenomenal. Robert was thorough and professional, taking the time to find out any problem areas in advance. The spa itself is beautiful, calming and zen. I would not recommend this spa. My husband and I did not receive services and this review is based on our experience. For some context, my husband and I stayed on the hotel property for our wedding anniversary staycation and were looking forward to a romantic weekend. My husband, earlier in the week, had called the spa and specifically asked to schedule a couples massage. Great, they got us in for an appointment on a weekend morning. A day before, they called to confirm. I can admit this is where we may have went wrong, but we missed the call and it slipped our minds to call back to confirm in the preparations for the weekend. However, they had asked for a card to have on file to secure the appointment (which my husband provided). So we show up to the spa a few minutes prior to the appointment time and the lobby was full. We give our names at check in and then they list off two individual services they had written down for us that was NOT a couples massage. We were puzzled and said no, we specifically scheduled a couples massage. We got a rather lackluster "sorry" and the lady said she would see if we could be accommodated. I kid you not, within 15 seconds she came back saying they did not have room and could not accommodate a couples massage, saying they had a "full house" for the weekend. To her credit, she offered individual massages, but as we specifically scheduled the couples massage, this was not acceptable. They said they'd put us to "the top of the waitlist" but did not anticipate any openings. The spa did nothing else to offer services or amends to make it right and we left really disappointed. Throughout this whole time, I found the desk staff rather apathetic. We later found out there was a wedding on property over the weekend. I'm not sure where the disconnect was. Did whomever that scheduled the appointment purposely schedule it wrong hoping we would still pay for services? Did they give our appointment away because they didn't have "confirmation" we would be there? I don't know, but either way we won't be returning. read more

Six years ago, on the night my fiancé proposed to me, him and I spent the night at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs in Phoenix. Six years later, my fiancé treated his mother and myself to a massage and facial at their spa. We noticed online that they were running a special for Thanksgiving which was $100 for any of the following services: massage either Swedish or Swedish/reflexology combo, seasonal facial, deluxe manicure, or pedicure. I thought the biggest bang for his buck was a 50 minute Swedish/reflexology combo massage and his mother opted for the facial. We were able to easily schedule this appointment over the phone two days before. We were surprised about that because it was the Saturday following Thanksgiving and we assumed it would be much busier. It was a little bit difficult to find as the property is quite large. Pull into the second parking lot and it's right there. If you happen to pull into the first parking lot you will have to drive all the way around, just follow the signs and there is complimentary parking right outside and an overflow parking lot behind that. We were greeted by the charming Amy. She happened to know a lot about Oceanside, California which is where my fiancé and I live because her husband was stationed in Coronado Island. We happened to mention we really liked the lotions there and she gave us a bunch of samples which was so sweet. She took great care of us and grabbed us waters. We showed up a little bit early because we were hoping to use some spa amenities such as a sauna, steam room, or just lounge in a robe and eat snacks and drink tea. However, we were only offered water in a plastic cup and there was a tiny waiting room in which we waited in. There was a small lunch menu with a few healthy options such as a green smoothie, and some nice salad options. We didn't go for any of that but it was nice to have available. Now the cost of $100 was becoming more clear since there were no spa amenities. Amy told us that if we wanted to go to the fitness center there is a sauna and steam room in there but we weren't interested in doing that. My massage therapist's name is Sharon and she was absolutely lovely. She always asked me what I was comfortable with and let me know exactly what she was doing, when. I told her I travel for a living and I have a lot of concerned areas and pointed those out to her. I also let her know that when I typically get massages I opt for a deep tissue massage so I told her the more pressure, the merrier. For a small lady she was mighty strong, also, I was not clear on what reflexology meant. I thought it kind of meant that she was going to stretch me out while she massaged me. However, I was incorrect in thinking that. It actually means the massage therapist is connecting pressure points to certain areas of your body. She explained them all to me and it was incredible how accurate everything was. Your body is an extremely complicated and fascinating entity for sure. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. I was hoping the spa might be a little bit nicer with more things to do, his mom and I just sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes and drank water and talked. There wasn't much else to do. Shout out to the fabulous Sharon and Amy for making this experience quite extraordinary. When I went to check out it cost me $126. I was told that there would be a 20% gratuity so I'm still unclear about what the extra six dollars wise. Tax? I looked on my receipt and I did not have a breakdown. Anyway, I hope that six dollars went to Sharon because she was unbelievable. Adam's mom came out with incredibly greasy hair and she was not happy about that. Typically when I receive a facial or massage I always ask for the massage therapist to wash their hands before giving me a scalp massage because I only wash my hair a few times a week. They offered to give her a blowout before she left but of course that would be an additional charge so I don't think either of us were keen on the greasy hair situation, but she did truly enjoy her facial which is good. read more

This experience was disappointing. The spa is just that. No real amenities. The quiet/lounge room is right outside the salon which is very loud, and you can overhear all conversations. That being said, I had the BEST massage ever. she was professional and exceptional. My facial was mediocre at best, and didn't take the full time. After looking back at what I booked, I'm not even sure I got the entire treatment. I will not return on my next trip. read more

I was disappointed with our experience at the Tocaloma Spa. I would t even call it a spa. You're not offered robes or slippers. There's no quiet room to relax in before you receive your your services. You sit by the front door as people come and go. The outside area was a mess and they put customers in an overflow by the laundry room. There is NO ambiance of a high end spa. My massage was great but I could have gotten this at Massage envy for half the price. Shame on this location for not informing its customers of the tiny environment. Do yourself s favor... The Good Body wrap/massage given by Robert - out of this world-excellent. Nanette gave me a beautiful mani/pedi that works with my lifestyle. The Bad Facial by Jeanine. I sensed a chill in the air when she described the products they had to offer and I explained I already had everything I needed. There were two things that compelled me to write this review (aside from the two points to follow.. it was a below average facial - and I don't like to give reviews unless they are -10's). 1) She vigorously ground a scrub (with what felt like with a hard scrub brush or her nails-I did not see or ask) into part of my scalp (approximately 4-5 inches deep from forehead and ending at the top of my ears). This day was gift, so I was not aware I was to have gotten a 'scalp' massage, which you would think - meant my whole scalp; and 'massage' meaning it would feel good. I didn't complain at the time, as I thought I was out-of-date and this was what they do now. And, I keep thinking something wonderful was coming next. Not so much.. 2) When she removed product off my face, instead of gently using cotton pads - she used rags (coarser than anything I've ever had used on my face) and pulled so hard I felt my skin stretch taut. Again, I was muted by my own incredulousness. That's it. Five-hour appointment - not even a bag of peanuts offered. No smiling faces or hellos whenever I returned to the waiting area. I was really disappointed with my experience at Tocaloma. My friends and I had purchased a Travel Zoo coupon to go to the spa and spend the day at the pool. The voucher included a free glass of wine or a smoothie after the massage, a day at the pool, and pool access for a friend When I arrived, I was a little caught off guard because there was no area to change and use the facilities before or after your massage. For the amount of money we paid, I expected to take advantage of additional amenities; however, I can get past that. My massage therapist barely put pressure on me during my massage and didn't seem to know much about how to give a massage. I think my 2 year old could have done a better job. After the massage, I went to get my free smoothie (which was just a bottled juice poured in to a glass) and got directions to the pool which was across the parking lot. When I arrived at the pool, I was told there were no outside drinks, even if they were from the spa. What a waste! I had to throw my drink away before entering the pool. Our voucher also allowed us to each bring one guest to the pool with us, so we each had a friend join us, later. The pool staff gave them a hard time about coming to the pool and would not let them in without a wristband. This whole experience was lackluster and really a huge disappointment. I have always enjoyed this hotel but this has left a bad taste in my mouth for future visits. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a weekend at the Hilton to lounge around the pool. He suggested massages so we went to Tocaloma. Tocaloma is a day spa so there aren't showers or saunas to enjoy before or after the massage; however, the facility is nice and very clean. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing. My Swedish massage with Ben was wonderful! He was very professional and attentive. He found the areas in my neck that needed to be worked on and applied the right amount of pressure to work out the kinks. I will definitely be back to see Ben again. read more

These ladies do it all, they have a full salon and do a great job, offer nail services and waxing services (Bonnie was very friendly and professional). They also offer every kind of massage there is - I'll be back for sure! Joy went way above and beyond to make it special, creating gift bags, drinks, etc. the staff was friendly and the services were excellent. Had a very relaxing massage with warm massage oils. Wanted to spend time at the spa with my two friends but it's a very small spa and they could not accommodate three of us at the same time. But my massage was very relaxing. I added on a manicure but it was not worth the price or my time. No parrafin wax, lotion and hand massage, and no special attention. Joy the spa manager was extremely helpful. She made this visit so easy. We were staying for a bridal staycation n I had to get 9 girls scheduled for the hotel and spa. joy went out of her way to help get rooms situated because we needed to move location, she even upgraded us to the ambassador suite which was very cool. During the spa visit she prepared a pitcher of sangria, and a spread of fruits and pastries. We had the spa to ourselves and it was a treat. Massage was lovely but the manicure was awful. The woman (Brandy) who did my nails had chipped off polish and dirt under her nails. Perhaps my standards are too high but if you are going to be providing a service to a persons hands/nails, you should have the courtesy to at least look presentable to your client. My manicurist rushed through my appointment and seemed irritated that she had to remove my gel polish despite me indicating this when I made my appointment 1 month prior. My sister had a pedicure that looked like a 5 year old did it. Very sloppy. Overall, be wary about booking nail services at this spa as they are not the best and extremely overpriced. read more

While on vacation in Phoenix, we found this spa on the hotel property. What a gem this place is! It happened to be spa week and the spa had several services available for $50. Bonnie was the esthetician who handled my facial and all I can say is WOW! She used an organic line on my face and I had virtually no redness afterward. I have rosacea, so this is an unusual event for me. Bonnie also used a wonderful makeup on me after the facial by Jane Iredale. The makeup covers so well that I now must return home and sell off my back stock of Bare Minerals. Bella took care of my mani/pedi and I now have the No Chip/Shellac on my nails. Its supposed to last 14 days with no chipping. It has been several days already and things are looking great! The service by these ladies and all of the other ladies in the salon is fabulous. They know their stuff and are so friendly. The girls behind the counter, like Morgan, were so helpful with arranging our services and taking care of us while we were in the salon. I also enjoyed a wonderful massage and had my hair shampoo-ed and blow dried. I would consider this to be more of an intimate spa. It is on the smaller side and also very clean. Bonus - smaller spas don't make you feel like you are just a number. Visiting for several days meant we were regulars. It makes you feel special to be recognized! I wish I could give a negative star! This was the most expensive-worst pedicure I ever had. I went with the "deluxe" pedicure and basic manicure. First I arrived and was offered yummy orange infused water but then I waited there for 25 minutes before going back to the chairs. They didn't turn on the massage chair and I believe my "deluxe" included a shoulder massage that I never received. The $60 deluxe pedicure included a sugar scrub. Nail tech used some generic lotion on my legs once and the painting was mediocre at best. Usually a deluxe includes a paraffin wax, longer massage or hot towel. I couldn't believe how basic this pedicure was. I think my teenager daughter could have done a better job and the nail tech wasn't much older than her. They don't have nail dryers or fast dry spray so be prepared to be cautious with that overpriced $60 polish. After the 25 minute delayed start and basic effort, I opted out of getting a manicure. My advise take the hotel shuttle to a real salon and spend your money on quality service. read more
