Our family had a great brunch at Toast. The pancake tacos are stuffed with Nutella, fruit and cinnamon whipped cream. We also loved the Creme Brulee French Toast and the hash browns. I had big expectations for this place. Unfortunately the service here matches the food quality-dreadful. This place reminded me of a locals only place, if you didn't know the staff personally they were annoyed to deal with you. I was grossed out looking at the amounts of dust and grime caked up on windows and other surfaces. Food was sub par... I ordered scrambled eggs and hash. My family and I stopped in for breakfast on a Tuesday morning and the place was very busy. It's located in a small shopping plaza below an apartment high rise. It's a small local place with plenty of character. We were seated at the counter even though there were a few tables available. We all ordered the same breakfast. How lame. We each ordered the fire king cinnamon French toast. I had a side order of turkey sausage and we had two orders of the fruit cup. And of course, coffee. We were told the bread was made by fire king, a manufacturer down the road. The French toast was excellent. Each order consisted of 2 large thick slices dipped in a sweet batter topped off with cinnamon. No syrup needed. The sausage consisted of two patties and as a coffee snob, I would say it was ok. The fruit cups were a decent size and it was all fresh fruit and nothing was canned. The service was friendly but we did wait approximately 30 minutes for our food to arrive. That seemed to be the average time as we looked around the place. I had a feeling the locals were getting special attention over the tourists. I also noticed the garbage can up against the ice maker. My husband and I brought our laptops to work since we were in town for the day.. and the woman there who seemed the manager came up to me gave me the eye and told me basically I couldn't use the outlets... she then yelled they have to get out!! Toast would not be my breakfast recommendation. I had a terrible experience there witnessing management yell at a table of guests for not tipping what she deemed a "reasonable"amount. And another time, the staff was exceptionally rude to a group of students waiting for a table to open up. The food is good, but the attitude of the management to the guests which I've witnessed multiple times will steer me away from Toast in the future. The plethora of wall signs are cute and the view of the ocean is lovely but there is minimal parking, slow service, bad attitudes and the space is cramped. read more

We had a short wait, under 10 minutes, for a table. I should've spent those minutes reading reviews..... We were seated and greeted by our server Matthew. He was very pleasant and even more attentive. The problem was, WE LITERALLY WAITED 1 HOUR FOR 2 OMELETTES. COVID protocol not followed. Ordered take out was told an hour and 10 minutes waited about an hour and a half then went to pick up to be told that they'd called and spoken to us and that the food just went on and would be 10-15 minutes ok. Except that the call was never made. After 5-10 minute of waiting to get a hold of them again we were told the order she was referring to was a different order and ours hadn't yet gone on (an hour and fourth five minutes after ordering)n. Aside from just being bad business to continue to take orders that you cannot fulfill nor doing enough due diligence to assure your giving appropriate information, the biggest issue was the complete disregard for covid protocol. Every seat and booth was filled, not a mask in site, no plexiglass partitions nothing. We came here since it was close walk from the hotel we stayed at over the weekend. They had a high chair for my toddler and booth seating for us. It's a small spot but homey. We started off with hot oatmeal which they serve with brown sugar and milk, very wholesome! The hubs ordered the egg white omelette that came with crispy hash browns and wheat toast. Even though the waitress was cordial, apparently sitting at "any" table during the low volume daytime was not ok with the b behind the counter. The large table was not for us 3, it's for large groups that "might" come in. Then to emphasize how very rude she can be, she slapped the menus on a table and left us. When we said what happened to our brother who was parking the car, we decided to just go. After all she needs us more than we need her. Too bad, cuz the waitress who would have served us lost out on a tip. As memory serves, I recall a similar bad taste on a visit to Toast about a year ago. Never ever going back. DO NOT GO. There are so many more breakfast places in the area to go to that have better service and have better food. From the the minute you walk in the owner was unfriendly and rude. The wait was 30 minutes to get a table then another thirty to order drinks and in total it was 2 hours until we left. We asked for home fries and got shredded uncooked greasy potatoes. Is Toast the fastest place? No. But the food is way beyond what you'll find on offer at the typical diner. Is it challenging at times to get a seat? Yes, because a lot of people know how good the food is. Can you barrel in and sit wherever you want? Even at the bar? No. There is a queue. Should you tip even if you had to wait a while for your food? Of course. Some complain about all of the above, but the entire staff here puts a lot of love and care into the food. Love love love this place. Sure it's a long wait but the food is divine. I loved the wait staff. The signs around the restaurant were funny saying sarcasm is one service we offer etc. It took a little under two hours. The orange juice was great. The tea selection was fabulous. The eggs Benedict was fantastic. My dad had a western omelet and he couldn't finish it. My mom has the wave special. If you want something fast don't go. If you want something delicious and have the time, I highly recommend it. We were staying at the Nantasket Beach Resort. Our cousin recommended it and we were glad she did. Yummy! read more

I heard great things about Toast so I took my family here. The food actually was pretty good, the environment, however, was awful. For reference, my family is Black. Our experience at Toast made us extremely uncomfortable. We received dirty looks from other customers and even staff. Our waitress was extremely cold to us and seemed almost dismissive, and there were customers sporting racist propaganda. I was extremely uncomfortable but did not want to be rude and leave the table before the meal arrived and paying. It is unfortunate that in 2020 my family cannot enjoy a meal at a restaurant just like any other family. Gave it 3 tries. Won't give it anymore. Problems: First, if you're alone, you have to sit at the counter with really uncomfortable chairs because they are 'saving the tables for bigger parties' which conveys to me my limited value to them. A short sighted business approach at best. You can never tell who your most financially supportive customers are based on group size. Second, the food is just okay. The wait time isn't the issue. It's the hardness of the toast, the average eggs, the nothing special home fries which makes it just edible. Third, the entire time I'm sitting at the counter, I get an up close and personal blow by blow of the hostess/owner trashing customers and staff. Her comments are rude. And, the snarl on her face can kill an appetite faster than flies. Forth, when you arrive you're stuck waiting at the door while the staff pretends to not notice you. They'll even talk about you standing there. Charming. So, today when I got there at 1:17pm I waited and waited while one waitress pointed at me and the owner rolled her eyes. She finally came over and said she was closed. Brilliant strategy there. Great business sense, closing to customers at 1:17 when the shop closes at 2pm. Here's a free hint, turn off the open sign and put up the closed sign when you stop seating at 1:17 for 2 pm closing. Interesting, I drove up the street to the Saltwater Diner which also closes at 2pm. They seated and fed me and I was out by 1:55pm. Oh, they seated 4 other tables after me. The foods good, and the wait staff is pretty good, but the owner is a nasty SOB. We have been many times, and noticed her be rude to several customers. Today, however, she iced it for me. There is only one table that seats 6 people. Another party of 6 arrived just before us. The owner refused to push 2 tables together, even though the place was 1/2 empty. No reason given. She is just NASTY. Rude, Crude and Tattooed. Will never go there again. Don't recommend the place. P.S. If you arrive at 12 noon and the place is full, don't bother. She will tall you the wait is 2 hours and that they close at 1. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Against my better judgement I went back again last weekend. If I could give this place a 0 I would. The food was awful, undercooked and it took a VERY LONG TIME to arrive at our table. The owner was rude when I asked her to check on the order. People who come in after us were served, finished their breakfast and left before our food was delivered. On top of that, they addend 20% tip (4 adults, 2 kids).
