We've been in Hull for a week (in late October - I'm just getting around to finishing and posting this review) and I have to say this is the best breakfast we've had! We traveled around the greater Boston area to Quincy, Hingham, Plymouth, Cape Cod, Salem and on and on. So we vote this the Best Breakfast Place in Massachusetts! Yes, there are complaints about the quirkinesses of the owner/staff, weird rules, etc., but our waitress was FANTASTIC! And the food just wonderful. So who cares if we can't be on our phone; we're there to eat anyway! (**we really thought we couldn't be on our phone and had a good laugh with the waitress about it. Bottom line, show respect and when she comes by to take your order, get your head outta the phone!!!) If we're ever in Hull again we will head to Toast with a quickness! read more

For me, any good restaurant should have three things: great food, great service, and a great environment. It was honestly difficult for me to consider the food and environment because of the owner. I went there with my girlfriend for a quick bite before hitting the beach, and from the time we asked for a table to the time we left, all I could focus on was the owner/manager. She never smiled once, was short and unfriendly with all customers, and generally made the entire experience poor. Some real examples? When we asked for a table for two her response was "20 minutes, wait outside and I'll come get you." And while it was only about 5 minutes, our indication that our table was ready was a knock at the window behind us. Given there was a group seated there, she either reached over the table to knock or had the customer knock for her. Terrible. While inside we were seated next to the bar, at one point the lady walked by with menus that bumped into my girlfriend's arm. She looked back to see what she hit but never offered any form of apology. It wasn't a big deal but at least say sorry. A table of 5 was being seated near us in a booth that normally seats 4. She walked to the table and grabbed a chair on the way. After slamming the chair down at the end (which blocked both sides of the tight booth from being entered) she walked away without saying a word, letting the group see themselves into the booth. The food wasn't bad, my girlfriend got an egg sandwich that looked and tasted delicious. I got scrambled eggs with shredded hash browns and sausage. The hash browns were a little greesy but tasted great, the eggs and sausage were just ok. The layout inside was a mishmash of knick-knacks and clutter with no real theme that just made it feel boring and crowded. All in all, I won't eat here again. read more

What a great addition to Hull! I went to Toast today and had a 5 star breakfast. This was my first time coming here, and I will be back! To begin, the restaurant has a cool vibe to it. I went with my mother and we chatted. This is the perfect restaurant to bring old friends to to reconnect or a new date. The decorations are unique and nostalgic. The server I had was a very nice guy and took our orders quickly. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and I split a piece of Firecracker French toast with my mom. The Eggs Benedict was absolutely perfect. I really loved the hash that came with it, too! The Firecracker French toast was heavenly; imagine fried dough and Cinnamon Toast Crunch's love child. Delicious, inspired. I'll be back! read more

Cute little diner across from the ocean. Stopped by here before we went on to spend the day at Nantasket beach. I had the cinnamon roll French toast which was delicious and obviously got pretty sweet by the end. I also had a side of stringy hash-browns. Yum! My boyfriend had the corn beef hash which was also excellent. Coffee was very nice. They left a small amount for us to refill our own glasses which was awesome, but they were also always there to refill from the pot. Excellent service! I was also impressed with how clean the place was, and how timely they were in taking away dishes, cleaning and preparing the tables. It never looked unclean or disorganized. Not only is the menu filled with good food (my wife loves the pancake tacos), but the staff is welcoming and considerate. Toast serves the Town of Hull well, and has inclusive displays of diverse aspects of the community that makes most people feel right at home. Our family had a great brunch at Toast. The pancake tacos are stuffed with Nutella, fruit and cinnamon whipped cream. We also loved the Creme Brulee French Toast and the hash browns. I had big expectations for this place. Unfortunately the service here matches the food quality-dreadful. This place reminded me of a locals only place, if you didn't know the staff personally they were annoyed to deal with you. I was grossed out looking at the amounts of dust and grime caked up on windows and other surfaces. Food was sub par... I ordered scrambled eggs and hash. Food came out cold and hash was flavorless and eggs were so wet they tasted raw.. I don't know how this place starts open. read more

The owner is just so lovely and kind. The food is delicious! They finally have new owners so if you haven't been there in a couple years don't worry the miserable ones are gone! My family and I stopped in for breakfast on a Tuesday morning and the place was very busy. It's located in a small shopping plaza below an apartment high rise. It's a small local place with plenty of character. We were seated at the counter even though there were a few tables available. We all ordered the same breakfast. How lame. We each ordered the fire king cinnamon French toast. I had a side order of turkey sausage and we had two orders of the fruit cup. And of course, coffee. We were told the bread was made by fire king, a manufacturer down the road. The French toast was excellent. Each order consisted of 2 large thick slices dipped in a sweet batter topped off with cinnamon. No syrup needed. The sausage consisted of two patties and as a coffee snob, I would say it was ok. The fruit cups were a decent size and it was all fresh fruit and nothing was canned. The service was friendly but we did wait approximately 30 minutes for our food to arrive. That seemed to be the average time as we looked around the place. I had a feeling the locals were getting special attention over the tourists. I also noticed the garbage can up against the ice maker. The prices were reasonable and there is sufficient parking. read more

My husband and I brought our laptops to work since we were in town for the day.. and the woman there who seemed the manager came up to me gave me the eye and told me basically I couldn't use the outlets... she then yelled they have to get out!! Love toast! The wait can be long during busy times, but well worth the wait. You can go next door to a little boutique and shop while you wait. Toast would not be my breakfast recommendation. I had a terrible experience there witnessing management yell at a table of guests for not tipping what she deemed a "reasonable"amount. And another time, the staff was exceptionally rude to a group of students waiting for a table to open up. The food is good, but the attitude of the management to the guests which I've witnessed multiple times will steer me away from Toast in the future. The plethora of wall signs are cute and the view of the ocean is lovely but there is minimal parking, slow service, bad attitudes and the space is cramped. read more

We had a short wait, under 10 minutes, for a table. I should've spent those minutes reading reviews..... We were seated and greeted by our server Matthew. He was very pleasant and even more attentive. The problem was, WE LITERALLY WAITED 1 HOUR FOR 2 OMELETTES. I was very disappointed because it looked like a fun place but 60 minutes for an omelette is too much. And the owner/hostess, the next time she smiles will be the first...... COVID protocol not followed. Ordered take out was told an hour and 10 minutes waited about an hour and a half then went to pick up to be told that they'd called and spoken to us and that the food just went on and would be 10-15 minutes ok. Except that the call was never made. After 5-10 minute of waiting to get a hold of them again we were told the order she was referring to was a different order and ours hadn't yet gone on (an hour and fourth five minutes after ordering)n. Aside from just being bad business to continue to take orders that you cannot fulfill nor doing enough due diligence to assure your giving appropriate information, the biggest issue was the complete disregard for covid protocol. Every seat and booth was filled, not a mask in site, no plexiglass partitions nothing. We came here since it was close walk from the hotel we stayed at over the weekend. They had a high chair for my toddler and booth seating for us. It's a small spot but homey. We started off with hot oatmeal which they serve with brown sugar and milk, very wholesome! The hubs ordered the egg white omelette that came with crispy hash browns and wheat toast. Owner is a gruff lady with a chip on her shoulder. Left without ordering. Even though the waitress was cordial, apparently sitting at "any" table during the low volume daytime was not ok with the b behind the counter. The large table was not for us 3, it's for large groups that "might" come in. Then to emphasize how very rude she can be, she slapped the menus on a table and left us. When we said what happened to our brother who was parking the car, we decided to just go. After all she needs us more than we need her. Too bad, cuz the waitress who would have served us lost out on a tip. As memory serves, I recall a similar bad taste on a visit to Toast about a year ago. Never ever going back. DO NOT GO. There are so many more breakfast places in the area to go to that have better service and have better food. From the the minute you walk in the owner was unfriendly and rude. The wait was 30 minutes to get a table then another thirty to order drinks and in total it was 2 hours until we left. We asked for home fries and got shredded uncooked greasy potatoes. Wouldn't even give this place a one star more like half a star. The food made me feel sick and definitely won't go back. The bacon was floppy, super greasy, and mostly fat. Is Toast the fastest place? No. But the food is way beyond what you'll find on offer at the typical diner. Is it challenging at times to get a seat? Yes, because a lot of people know how good the food is. Can you barrel in and sit wherever you want? Even at the bar? No. There is a queue. Should you tip even if you had to wait a while for your food? Of course. Some complain about all of the above, but the entire staff here puts a lot of love and care into the food.
