Terrible Service, Disappointing Food, and an Experience I Won't Forget…read more My girlfriend and I visited Sunshine Cafe hoping to enjoy a nice breakfast, but unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences we've had. Service was absolutely awful. As soon as we walked in, someone brought me a coffee and walked away without even asking if we were ready to order. We ended up sitting at our table for over 15 minutes just waiting for someone to take our order, while the staff stood around chatting with other people. Eventually, someone took our order, and then we waited another 30 minutes for our food. When the food finally arrived, things didn't get any better. My girlfriend ordered a waffle with sausage, biscuits, and gravy, and she didn't like the food at all. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and chocolate chip pancakes. Honestly, the food was so bad that I practically had to force myself to swallow it. It was disgusting. The only reason I continued eating was because I was hungry and we had already wasted nearly an hour at this establishment. Had we not been so hungry, we would have walked right out. To make matters worse, shortly after eating, I had to rush to the bathroom because the food upset my stomach and caused diarrhea. I can't say with certainty what caused it, but it certainly wasn't an experience that left me feeling good. The ambiance was also very questionable. Honestly, it felt like we had walked into someone's home rather than an actual restaurant. What particularly caught my attention was the food storage. The food appeared to be stocked in an ordinary household refrigerator, the kind you would have in your kitchen, rather than the commercial refrigeration equipment I would normally expect to see in a restaurant. That raised concerns for me about food storage practices and overall food safety. Considering that I subsequently experienced stomach issues, it certainly didn't help my confidence in the establishment. Then came the bill. Apparently, they only accept cash, which was another inconvenience we weren't expecting. I calculated the cost of our food, including tax, and withdrew $60 from their ATM, expecting that to cover the bill and leave a little extra for a tip. Somehow, the bill came out to $63. To make matters worse, the receipt was practically impossible to read because of the extremely poor handwriting. I couldn't even make out exactly what we were being charged for or how much each item cost. And if all that wasn't enough, parking is terrible. There is practically nowhere convenient to park. I'll give the place one thing: it seems to be popular with locals, and there were plenty of people there. Perhaps that's why it has a following. However, popularity doesn't excuse poor customer service, long wait times, disappointing food, questionable food-storage practices, and a frustrating payment experience. If you're visiting Niagara Falls as a tourist and looking for good food, attentive service, and an enjoyable breakfast experience, I'd strongly recommend going somewhere else. Unfortunately, Sunshine Cafe did not live up to our expectations in any way. We won't be coming back.
