I made friends with a lot of people in this bar. I've been here multiple times. I'm actually kicking off a $16million project in Southgate across from the water tower. I have made good friends with the city as they've been helping us and we have also made good friends with the chief of police. I came in tonight. I was respectful. I was kind even when the bartender was rude. I gave her a generous comments. Unfortunately, this is my third time here and the first time I came here this woman was here and I did not want to come back. But I like the atmosphere I liked the environment and I love to play pool. I would not like to say anything more on your social media and love to remove this review, but I would really appreciate it if the owner would please contact me. I had a really good encounter with Albert a regular. He showed me the wall of your racing and everything that you guys did and talk to me about your legacy. I'm gonna tell you that the young African-American woman at this bar not only once failed me but failed me tonight again and is ruining your legacy. My friends and family are very deep in the racing scene. My best friend actually won the Baja a few years ago. We're about to build 1000 apartments in Southgate hopefully one says $16 million cleanup comes through. I would hate to be the guy that tells these 6 to 10,000 people that this bar should not be patronized because of one awful disrespectful, lazy bartender. I did nothing but respect her, and she did nothing but disrespect me from the moment I walked in the bar. I would really recommend you watch your cameras tonight because that's when this happened. I have no problem, not patronizing his part, but after being here multiple times and meeting your regulars and talking to them and having good vibes also with the Latina bartender and her friends. I actually took my girlfriend here on a first date just a few weeks ago and she was amazing. This African-American bartender with her attitude and disrespect is ruining your bar She snapped at me and demanded that I bring my empty drinks up to the bar so she could serve me I politely talk to her and ask three times that she's just says please I felt like I was disrespected the first time I walked in here and I wasn't gonna tolerate her disrespect again I am trying to help this city, and I'm doing big things here. I'm not just a regular Joe drunk walking in the door. I'm a person that is respected in this city, I'm a person that's doing hard work in this city, I'm a person that has been in the service industry, including corporate for over 25 years And I have to respectfully say this woman's service not only once but twice was horrible I would love to take down this review, please reach out to me and fix this. My friend one of the best bartenders in town has been trying to get me to go down for a drink I finally took her up on her offer .Tonight I went down for a Southern Comfort turns out dive bars dont have fancy crushed ice so I had to get it on the rocks. We both laughed. I walked straight in passed the regular and sat on the 5 bar stool I was very surprised I did not expect to talk to anyone but one woman leaned into my back as she order her patron shot with a beer chaser a few minutes later a woman with her (boyfriend?) Got in my face then said she wanted to buy me another drink.i said thanks but not thanks I have a one drink max.i highly recommend this little dive bar I will go back. read more

Cool. Nice quality place. 3 tables, they seem to be in good condition. Games were a dollar a pop, bills or quarters. Cash only for drinks, but liquor store next door has the ATM, convenient. Owner was nice. Patrons friendly, drinks affordable. Touchtunes juke box. Inside was nice and air conditioned. Looked much better than the pictures, I was pleasantly surprised. I will be back again. I really liked the good condition everything was kept in. Old school, but clean, nice, well kept. Came there this Saturday for my friends Bday. Been living in SG for a long time, but never been to this spot. So basically heres the just of the place. 3 pool tables in the middle of the place, with a dance floor on one side. They have a Jukebox, but on this night, since it was a bday, they got a dj to be here, which was actually really good. No cover, and they allow smoking inside. I didnt see any security, which was kinda weird, but oh well. They have 8 beers on tap, but only serve them in styrofoam cups. $3 bucks per cup. Bottle beers they carry are Corona's, Blue Moon, and Bud Light. Those were $3.50 each. Also sells beers in Pitchers ($10) and bud lights in cans. They do have a full bar. Drinks are really cheap. All in all, pretty cool low key spot, that has a lot of potential for more. read more

I like to drink. I like to drink but not around cigarette smoke (I quit a long time ago). And maybe being used to NO smoking environments in CA so long, the smell of fresh and old smell of cigarette smoke here is really detracting from the drinking experience. Maybe it's just the early afternoon staff but they look seriously surly and hating life being there. For young bartenders, they are the saddest bartenders I have ever encountered in my 44 years of life. Beer on tap choices are not bad, when their taps are working. It's a hit or miss that their taps are working when I go in. I like the fact the bar is only walking distance from my home but the less than friendly bartenders and non working taps is killing that "buzz." And when I want my alternative fave drink of Bloody Marys, it's a hit or miss they have all the necessary ingredients (by the way, NO celery sticks). They use small cheap plastic cups on top if that. I wish we had The Glenn bar in place. I gave it the score I did only because the drinks are relatively inexpensive and they have a decent jukebox, pool tables, a couple of TV screens but they need to get real bartenders and better customer service. Be prepared to walk out of there stinking of cigarette smoke (and sometimes of weed). I eventually gave up and decided I'm better off serving myself drinks at home! Seriously horrible customer service I ever experienced. The old hag of a bartender gave me and my cousin a dirty look as soon as we walked in. She kept staring at me. Then as I was setting up the pool table, she asked for my ID and I showed her. She checked it on the scanner, i didn't mind but she scolded me for it. She then interrupts the situation by yelling at my cousin for simply placing a closed can of juice on the wooden side of the pool table. I mean YELLS. That determined my decision to leave without hesitation so I asked for my ID back and she wouldn't give it to me. She carried a horrible and ignorant attitude towards me there. She said to me that she didn't want to give it back because she wanted to check my cousin's ID. A WTF moment cause we were no longer interested in being there anymore. I told her to return my property cause she was violating my rights. My cousin forgot his identification so she just yelled at us to get out. I tried to tell her the fact that WE already came together prior nights of the same week! I snatched my id back from her and she wouldn't listen. Best bar in town! Bartenders are great, the people are great. Some of my closest friends I've met at this spot.

This spot is legendary. If you come to South Gate this place is a must stop. The bartenders (all female) are very friendly. 3 pool tables, tv screens, a juke, and 4 dollar vodka sodas. One thing that I always notice is the friendliness of the patrons. Since I moved to West LA I haven't come in as much but I dip in whenever I am on the east side. The Toadstool! read more
