I get it that she matt have been bantering, but the way she said it, immediately gave me bad vibes. We don't mind driving 30 minutes from home to come and visit them. The service is amazing, it reminds me of a proper restaurant where staff is always walking by and making sure everyone is ok. It took her a whole 10-15 minutes to bring my card back at that point I didn't feel comfortable her having it. We went out side to get fresh air , my friends and I where about to leave when my friend and I wanted a michi (yes around 1:20 they we're kicking people out to close) FOR 2 michelada's it was $29.84 Fast forward again another girl Brianna C. Took our order & took a while to come back. MIND YOU , we could have walked right out since she brought our drinks FIRST and took a while to come back with her scanner to charge us , but we didn't do that , we waited to be charged. The following day 12/13 (MY BIRTHDAY) I checked my bank account and was falsely charged $145.73 on a tab that is not mine ! & trust me I HAVE MONEY. So for them to try and charge a tab that is NOT mine is ridiculous and are definitely taking advantage of people thinking they are under the influence. This business is all scams. I called my bank and they re reimbursed me BUT this bar wants to say other wise because they used my card reader to close out my tab. Today 01/03/2026 I spoke to an on duty manager name WALTER, let him know of this ordeal took my information down and was supposedly going to pass it on to the manager Catherine , it's been two days and haven't heard anything since. He claimed to not have working cameras btw. But they need to have records of my signature and documentation on my receipts to the transactions that I did have. But I didn't see that on a Thursday night during the NBA Playoffs / Dodger game. Surprisingly? Great food. Tacos were good, the Aguachiles was very good, especially for the price! It's got some heat. so be prepared (ask for it not hot if you've got a low tolerance.) Great citrus punch, quite a lot of seafood. All in all It's a great dive bar, with some beautiful servers, however the parking situation is very, very bad with patrons just double parking. I had to park in the neighborhood a block down, and when I left there was a gentlemen passed out next to it. But I guess that's Southgate for you! I would stop in maybe, but its not somewhere I'd recommend to go again.

Today, I came with a friend to witness the Dodgers win and see Shohei Ohtani hit his 51st home run and steal his 51st base. The ambiance was calm for this Thursday afternoon, but the music Playlist was on point. The bartenders were beautiful as always and attentive to our needs. After a couple of cold Pacifico beers, my friend and I got hungry and decided to order some aguachiles verdes and two tacos governador. Our order took a little longer than expected (Approximately 20 minutes), but we understood because the owner had barely opened his restaurant when we ordered. The aguachiles came first because they were not hard to prepare and looked delicious. Unfortunately, I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of my plate midway through. The plate had a good amount of shrimp marinated in spicy lime sauce, slices of avocado, red onions, cucumber, and about 3 to 4 tostadas served inside a plastic bag. Overall, this plate is perfect to satisfy your appetite temporarily. About 10 minutes later, the tacos governador plate came out with a slice of lime and a sauce that is hard to describe, but it was really good. The taco was cheesy and had plenty of shrimp for the traditional tortilla. The type of salsa they serve it with complements the governador and is delicious. In conclusion, I will continue to come here because of their sports ambiance, cold beers, beautiful bartenders providing excellent customer service, and Mariscos Los Laras serving delicious food.

When the drinks arrived, mine had whipped cream, so I asked for a second one with soy milk and no whipped cream, my fiance kept the first drink. I overheard the waitress clearly repeat the order, but the bartender said they were out of soy milk--and admitted the original drink had been made with whole milk. This was extremely concerning. I was served dairy without being informed, which can make me sick. The waitress was apologetic, but this kind of mistake should never happen. Staff should never substitute ingredients--especially allergens--without communicating with the customer first. If I had a dairy allergy rather than intolerance, this could have been a much more serious situation. This felt careless, irresponsible, and unprofessional. Clear communication about ingredients and substitutions is essential in food service.
