We came here on a friends night out where we were out drinking at multiple bars throughout the night. This place was alright. Somewhat of a hassle to get a drink but we were able to hang out. I love bars like this. We sat at the bar for most of our visit here. Im young & just started going to bars. I'm a little nerd who wants to read but also be around people and noise. what seems distracting for some is really relaxing for me (a college student always in chaos). I liked coming here alone to read and have my great spicy micheladas. The staff were nice and attentive, there was even a pop up pizza vendor! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place was popping on a Saturday night. They had a DJ playing and there was a Taco Bar right outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I felt the DJ played great music. The crowd was loving it. 10/10.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks were a little weak. I felt like I was at a chain restaurant where they measure the shot, which is annoying. More soda water than anything. This isn't my local bar so I totally get it. The service was still good. The bar tenders were none stop and still stayed on top of it. You can tell they give better service to the locals. BAD!BAD!BAD & rude , unprofessional customer service! Just Wow for me. The girl waitresses are soooo rude & weird. Only the 2 guys are actually cool & attentive. Was there not too long ago with my Man & these girls act as if they cant do their job right. Like if u dont want to serve or attend for people, get another job. They came across as if they were even envious of any girl there with their man.. like do ur job and dont worry hunny that not everyone is hitting on u giving u attention. Just do ur job. We are paying customers. & ultimately paying ur salary. So do ur job. Like I said the guy bartenders were nice and cool, but these girls were rude & sloppy & weird. We called them over several times and they are either deaf or were simply ignoring us & not just us , but I noticed they did it to other girls as well that were with their dudes. And when they would hear and come over, their attitudes were awful. Dont think me & MY Man will be coming back anytime soon. read more

Went in on Tuesday night expecting a quite chill night. Bee was bartending, first time I ever received service from her. It was a very busy crowded night. Her vibe was amazing. Even though she was busy she was smiling, vibrant and friendly. Rudy who also works there was off that night but sitting at the bar enjoying his evening. His vibe as well was amazing. I love coming to this bar. It's a cool dive bar, there is DJ some nights so it does get loud. It's fun on those days. Also when you come in early. It's very chill. I typically come after a long week and look forward to Mondays for the karaoke. All the bartenders are very nice & make great drinks. Not a single one messes up my mixed drink. It's perfect. Found this lil gem in Downey. Has a full bar. Dj on hit, Friday nights after 9. You can vape and even start dancing. Security is really laid-back, but on point. Staff is Kool, and bartenders serve good drinks. I will come back to this place before I go to the overcrowded club next door. read more

Of course a bartender will refuse to serve you if you're already drunk when you walk in. Any smart business would. All the bartenders Evelyn, Karina, Rudy, Mayra, Annette, Bee, Jay and everyone that works in the establishment make a great team to look out for patrons safety. Also shout out to the guy who wrote the review about the jukebox. That's not how it works. It says right there in your photo that you have to play 400 songs (not all at once) to see the next song on the queue. Everyone is a customer with the jukebox including the bartenders. Been coming here for a few months. Bartenders are friendly and welcoming. Walking in, it's great to see there are patrons from all walks of life. Their happy hour is great. The girl with the glasses, I think her name is Evelyn, always cards and doesn't over serve. The vibe is fun especially when there are games on the screen (Dodgers). Overall, friendly and responsible servers and a great attitude. Am making this my regular bar. read more

Service is very quick during the day. The bar does get crowded Thursday through Sunday nights. Pool table is well maintained. A large selection of top self liquor, even Japanese whiskey. The best part of the bar is plenty of parking behind the bar. read more

The bartender was so aggressive and mean, we just walked in and she refused us service. We didn't feel welcomed or tended to. We were celebrating our friends promotion, I don't know if this matters but he's gay and he felt a certain way by her. She was very cruel and manipulating. She didn't even speak to us in a respectful way, she just judge my friends and told us she wasn't serving us. We felt very discriminated. I personally said great things about this bar and was sorely mistaken. She wears glasses and has her people. She isn't open to new customers or women. She just wants to service men that are regulars. I really wanted to regular this bar because my first experience was great. This time this girl was awful to us. I hope she changes her ways of thinking, we're not against you girl! Hustle! Yesterday, May 2, 2025, I went to Kelleys with one of my girlfriends, and we had a great time until the bartender Karina became jealous and hostile. I dislike negative reviews because I understand people have bad days, and I'm for worker rights. But my friend and I arrived around 6 pm, and the bartender Karina was the only one there. She was nice and friendly initially, she stated it was her birthday, and we got her some early birthday shots and sang her happy birthday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While there Kelleys Bar had good music (hip-hop) so I proceeded to dance while at the bar (shaking my butt, singing, moving to the music while my friend recorded) she became jealous due to her "boyfriend" or the man she liked was sitting next to me I did not notice him nor find him attractive at all or had a flirty interaction for her to be upset, she was upset that I was dancing, which is a normal thing to do at a bar (lol).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Again, I did not pay him any attention due to minding my business and having a great time with my friend. When Rudy showed up (amazing bartender), she stopped bartending, was visibly very upset, and became hostile and stated I should leave, but my friend could stay. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My friend and I left due to her hostility, which created a negative environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As a past bartender myself, I will encourage Karina to have better customer service, and if she's insecure or a very jealous woman, to not invite her love interest to her place of work, especially not a bar where women and people in general dance, and to behave professionally. So, Karina, again, your man is not attractive to me. I didn't have a conversation with him, nor noticed him for you to become jealous, rude, and combative to me. I did not want him. I hope the owner of Kelley's reads this to speak to Karina about her jealousy and rudeness. read more

The one star is for the DJ. Where do I even begin. This place is a locals only vibe. If your not a local, good luck trying to get a drink. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar tenders ignore you, there were a handful of throw up incidents inside and outside the establishment, not a friendly ambiance, bathrooms were dirty, and the cherry on top was that one of the bar tenders was washing her foot on the bar sink after being thrown up on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She just threw her foot on the bar and started washing it very casually as we all watched. The bar tender has 400+ songs playing on the jukebox so unless you're looking to pay 7 credits to skip them forget about listening to anyone else's music. Seems like they have their obnoxious friends in the bar and ignore everyone else. read more

First timer, consider my self a "dive bar" aficionado, I'll give it my "go to" place when passing through Downey. Front facade you may barely notice, pull in the back parking lot, backdoor entrance. Not sure why, but everyone is asking for a lighter? ;) Nice long bar, was mostly full on a Friday night after work hour 6 pm. Diverse crowd, Ill assume mostly local. Music was eclectic, all over the map, sound vibes for everyone, bartenders seemed to know everyones name, first timer here so was OK without the personal reference or hello when I sat down. My suggestion is to focus on the great food and service and tell the D.J. that his job is to provide background music, not to try and overwhelm diners with lots of noise.

So when, tasked with finding a suitable place for our quarterly lunch meeting, I entered "Jewish deli" and "Downey" into Yelp, half expecting to find the lackluster lineup of national chains that PURPORT to make good sandwiches- Subway, Joysie Mike's, Jimmy John's and the usual suspects of sandwich sorriness! Imagine then, fellow Yelpers, when Uncle Henry's Deli appeared...as welcome a sight as my gorgeous bikini-clad wifey. Both Mick and I, who first bonded over our shared love of the national pastime, immediately likened Henry's with the MLB legend who shares my birthday- Henry Louis Aaron, aka Hamnerin' Hank and the REAL all-time home run leader, Barry Bonds and his oversized gourd, er, head be damned. In his 22yr career, Aaron belied his average size (5ft 11 tall, 185 lbs) and deployed his missile-fast wrists to smack 755 homers. All while playing in Jim Crow era Atlanta. Uncle Henry's Deli, similarly, defies expectations. Who would think of putting a Jewish-style delicatessen in Downey, famous for birthing the honey-voiced Carpenters and the self-styled "Mexican Beverly Hills?!" Mick ordered a super sized Original, which is turkey, roast beef + ham plus cheddar on white. He went with potato wedges which are sizable. Me? I chose one hot, one cold. A super sized Big B (Pastrami, Bacon + Swiss on toasted sourdough, hold the pickles) and an Egg Salad on enviably well made squaw bread, hold the tomatoes. Pro Tip- From a lifetime of ordering well made sandos in every major city in America, never put tomatoes on a cold sandwich unless you want the notoriously water-dense fruit to dampen your sandwich! The only mild drawback of my food order was the side of potato salad, which in my opinion would benefit from some black pepper and minced celery. The service at Henry's is expedient- You've barely helped yourself to one of their dark wood benches when they've called your order! The restroom was, yes, as cozy as the overall venue...but sufficiently clean + stocked. Watch out, tho- The hot water runs hotter than the devil's temperature! In closing, you can take Uncle Henry's to the bank. Yes, you'll part with upwards of a Jackson, mebbe even two. But you'll enjoy the treat, cuz the caliber of food is very bit as real as the hammer (aka Louisville Slugger) that Hamnering Hank used to bash all of his home runs with.

Kelley's used to be a nice hang out back in the good old days not so far ago until they hired Erika. Now Erika is a very UN-classy gal, the only way to get a drink from this gal is to be a hot guy who she finds attractive or if you can become part of her click then I can guarantee you will get a five star service. I used to be a regular at this bar and on slow days it would take her 1 hour and a half to get me my drink and on busy days up to 2 hours. Now don't get me wrong I tipped her well and I even tried to bring some of my friends over to the bar to have a good time, the last straw was when she ignored me and my buddies for a couple of hours. In the two hours we were there she only served us two drinks with a spoon full of attitude. The owner needs to get off his ass from Rhodes Island and get back to Downey, in the mean while I will be hanging out at my new favorite place in downey: The Downey Brewery (old Nordic fox restaurant), what can I say "they have 40 beers on tap" and no attitude! read more

Love Kelley's, love it's dive bar feel and secluded feel to it. I used to go there more often until I ran into to many troublemakers. They had security at the door but anyone can get in. I stop going often after two close encounters with people fighting. With that there seems to be more people at Brewery than there. I still go sometimes when I want to have a beer an chill alone or go with my friends and have a drink after visiting the Brewery. Drinks are inexpensively priced but have no Draft beer. read more
