This was by far the best and most historic and cutest hotel in Butte Montana. But they have abandoned the hotel business entirely in favor of short term rentals for one month or longer. I visited them this past weekend and tried to convince them to go back to being a hotel but nothing doing. They are simply not interested. The hotel has changed ownership. This is the decision of the new ownership. For those of us who would like an historic pet friendly hotel in Butte all we can hope for is that Eddy's hotel changes ownership again soon.

The yurt was clean and cozy and centrally located to lots of trail options. It was well-stocked with water, plenty of firewood, dishes, games, etc. The only drawback was the number of things we were expected do upon departing, considering the $95 daily rate. There was a list of chores, including sweep, clean the counters, empty the drain bucket under the sink, return the 5-gallon water jug provided, bring the garbage and any recyclables to the lodge, and strip the beds and also return the linens and towels to the lodge. We've stayed in a lot of USFS cabins and are used to leaving everything as we found it. Granted, those cabins are far more rustic, but they are also $20-$40/night. A $95/night rate is pretty pricey for Montana accommodations and we felt like, for that amount, we shouldn't have been expected to do so much to ready the room for the next guests.

Not only did we have to throw away everything we had and our baby's stuffed animals once we realized we were infested with bedbugs in this nasty motel room that looks like a set on a Criminal Minds episode but they kept our 200$ deposit for "towel replacement" when there were NO TOWELS in the room to begin with. The self declared "manager" of the facility was completely drunk and unprofessional and the only person that wasn't a family member was the prostitute and her pimp next door. Trust me you can find a much better place for the same price in Butte. Don't put yourself through this nightmare. You've been warned.

The room kept warm on a cold night (perhaps just a little too warm, but we just opened doors/windows) and the shower's hot water came quick. Their rate and pet fees for our two dogs were reasonable. We left too early to eat at their tex-mex restaurant but we'll be through next time!

I can't imagine this is a regular thing she does but worth mentioning to show you her kindness and generosity. They were the real deal, with shortbread & super lemony filling! Also she asked for less money because we chose the smaller site. Wow when has this ever happened in our many travels? Never! A storm was coming through the next day so we decided to wait it out with two more nights and 2 days at Boulder Hot Springs 1.5 miles away. Loris fb page gave us a great idea of what we could find in town. We visited Hanks aka Boulder Hardware to get propane. (Thanks Chloe for your help!) By 3rd night we learned about the infamous steaks at Windsor Bar and treated ourselves. What a fun place and it appeared to be woman owned and run. On our last morning we were visited by two tall birds. Lori had corrected us and said the heron aren't here yet, there are three pair of "Sandhill Cranes," what a glorious sight! We look forward to returning to such remarkable and sincere hospitality. Many thanks Lori, we are very grateful to be able to spend three nights here. Great Alternative to the State Park…read more This is a small, well-kept campground just off the highway, about 15 minutes from Lewis & Clark Caverns. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was peaceful. We had a tent site in the back, and all sites are conveniently close to the bathrooms, which were extremely clean and recently updated. A nice bonus--there's free use of a washer and dryer, plus stream access. The highway is nearby, so there is some road noise, but it didn't bother us. We were initially disappointed that we couldn't get into the state park, but this ended up being an even better option. On-site, there's a food truck serving amazing BBQ, live music, a small bar, a general store, and even a gas station. Everything you need is right there. Would definitely stay here again!

We paid $47 (we were told $37 when we made reservations.). Everything worked: water, sewer, electric but set ups are not as you would expect. We had to hitch up and pull forward the next morning to reach the port for the sewer as it was way forward of everything else. LOUD! They are 100 yards off of the Highway! And there are two truck stops 0.2 miles away. You can hear the "Jake" brakes and and LOUD Highway noise all night long. The sites are super small. No trees and we were greeted by unpicked up dog poop (several piles) in the small area of grass next to our site. Had to be careful not to step in it as we put our steps down.

My visits to the mine in Basin nearly eliminated my pain and I am able to gaze at the stars without falling to my knees, ride my bike, mow the lawn and walk up stairs without groaning from back pain. My brother-in-law, career nuclear subs then nuclear power plants, believes I'm going to die because of my visits. He repels the truth because of the narrow minded and archaic "science" he was taught. In truth, anything in appropriate measures can be beneficial but in excess can destroy quality of or life itself. For any nay sayers, the proof is in decades of positive results and folks who return year after year because of their experience. Animals that have benefitted cannot have preconceived expectations. Sunshine Mine Boulder, MT…read more *Travel professionals/long term renters stay away from this property* I stayed at the Sunshine Mine while on a work assignment. Options are very limited in the Boulder, MT area; therefore, rental housing can be expensive or consist of a longer commute. I chose this long term rental after discovering it online, and scarce housing options being available. Normally, I wouldn't have chosen a cabin to reside in, but housing options were minimal. This also was a short commute to my place of employment. This is definitely not the ideal housing choice for long term use. Initially when I arrived to the unit, it was very outdated and unclean. It appeared as if no one had been living in the unit/cabin for a long period of time, but the owner claimed she rented out all of the units frequently to travel professionals. The owner's assistant (Melanie) stated certain things would be removed/replaced, the space would be cleaned properly, and a basic setup including toiletries would be provided. All presented were false promises given. Upon arrival nothing was as we previously discussed. I didn't even have a roll of toilet tissue. Gratefully, I seen the owner's husband outside whom went to get me a roll from his house. The bed linen and shower curtain was stained heavily. The flooring of the unit, the kitchen sink, the refrigerator, and bathroom were filthy. I wasn't given a key to the unit either. I was told it was lost, and I should be safe even if the door is unlocked. I contacted Shellie (the owner) the next morning explaining what had occurred. Out of desperation for housing and her guarantee to correct all of my issues I decided to stay. I wished I would've left as I initially plan, but I'm a firm believer of giving people a second chance. After staying in the unit for over a month I decided it was no longer a good housing choice for me. I contacted the owner and her assistant multiple times via phone, email, and text concerning my early departure/refund of my deposit but my request was ignored/denied. I informed them of me leaving due to personal issues a week in advance. An improper exit/departure of the unit was performed and I never received my deposit/extra monies paid towards my account. I repeatedly contacted both parties but was ignored. This business lacks professional and has poor customer service/communication. They play the part/role to lure you in, but are nothing as they appear to be. Yes, rental housing options are very limited in the Boulder area, but I would say pay a few more dollars to stay elsewhere or make a longer commute to your job. Traveling to an unfamiliar area is already a great concern, your housing shouldn't be especially when paying a lot of money to stay in the unit. Please go elsewhere! Save your money.
