Great Alternative to the State Park…read more This is a small, well-kept campground just off the highway, about 15 minutes from Lewis & Clark Caverns. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was peaceful. We had a tent site in the back, and all sites are conveniently close to the bathrooms, which were extremely clean and recently updated. A nice bonus--there's free use of a washer and dryer, plus stream access. The highway is nearby, so there is some road noise, but it didn't bother us. We were initially disappointed that we couldn't get into the state park, but this ended up being an even better option. On-site, there's a food truck serving amazing BBQ, live music, a small bar, a general store, and even a gas station. Everything you need is right there. Would definitely stay here again!

And then are charged an additional $6 service fee. THEN, they were mowing the lawn while I was here, and a rock busted the driver's side window on my car. The owner( I think he never fully introduced himself and had been on one of the 2 lawnmowers) helped me get the glass cleaned up and triied to call for repairs, but after that, radio silence. He still hasn't answered my text 8 hours later. He said he didn't cut through site #2 on his mower ( I was in site #1), but later that evening, I saw the tractor mower cut through site #2. The least he could do was offer to refund the night's fees. Cute general store, and they serve ice cream, but no integrity as a business owner.

He had an amazing knowledge of the caves and their history. We also enjoyed the gift shop and the restaurant after. We were starving from our cave exploration so the Bison burger hit just right!! Yum! We both expressed that we think our kids would also love the caves!! This is a gorgeous hour drive from Bozeman that I also thoroughly enjoyed.

I was absolutely blown away with this magnificent experience! We hiked about a mile up to the cavern entrance. It was a steady incline and almost all in the sun, so come prepared for that. Sunscreen and a water bottle would be wise. By the time you get to the top, you're pretty toasty warm-and then you can cool off in the cold, dark cave. The cave/cavern (what's the difference?) is truly remarkable. Nature can be awe inspiring and what you see inside this mountain is a perfect example of nature's masterpiece. Be respectful and don't touch anything you're not supposed to touch. This isn't a horribly physical excursion, although there's a good amount of stairs, narrow spaces and even one area where you slide down on your bum. People who have any mobility limitations might struggle with this one-although I did overhear that there's an alternate tour for folks who might need accommodations, so ask about that. This was likely my favorite part of the road trip-even more memorable than Yellowstone! (Sssshhhh, don't get me in trouble for saying that.)

We paid $47 (we were told $37 when we made reservations.). Everything worked: water, sewer, electric but set ups are not as you would expect. We had to hitch up and pull forward the next morning to reach the port for the sewer as it was way forward of everything else. LOUD! They are 100 yards off of the Highway! And there are two truck stops 0.2 miles away. You can hear the "Jake" brakes and and LOUD Highway noise all night long. The sites are super small. No trees and we were greeted by unpicked up dog poop (several piles) in the small area of grass next to our site. Had to be careful not to step in it as we put our steps down.

Electric and water is great Showers and bathroom are in reasonably good repair and clean Neutral: Near the highway so a bit noisy Grounds are boring and sites are small Negatives: Tiny laundry room (2 washers, 2 dryers) and the dryers need help. Two cycles and my clothes still had some dampness. The wifi is 0 to 2 bars at our site. It works, but it's slow and choppy at the best of times. It feels overpriced for what is provided. It might explain why the place is half empty in high summer.

First of all, I didn't park in the parking lot because I guess I'm stupid. I plugged the mountain into the GPS and it took me to the nearest trailhead (not the parking lot associated with it). GIS data am I right? It's brilliant, but not intuitive.... Typically engineer stuff. It's like having Spock as your right hand man. Anyway, I park by these beautiful houses, I take my beasts out to roam.. with the intent of throwing rocks into the, "H" that overlooks our town as a gesture of solidarity. Meanwhile, Jacksie (my little baby girl) she's hormonal because she's about to start... SHE DISAPPEARED. I guess you could say I got, gone girl'd. Me and Djinn submitted, and did our civic duty, and then we hoofed it looking for, Jacksnthebox. Didn't find her. Where is she? I got a text shortly thereafter saying, "hey is your white dog missing?". Yes. "She's at XYZ address, you should scoop her." Me and Djinnyrd Skynyrd went grab the original beast; got there, picked her up, and started looking for my car... which at this point I realized, I had lost. Finally found the car, and quickly learned that I had lost my keys during the hike. (Fell out of my pocket.). Happy 4th of July, Marcus. "May Zeus strike you with lightning, and your tears fall on the feet of Aphrodite." Anyway... a 2 day ordeal, 30 miles worth of walking, blisters on my feet, AAA, and a locksmith turned it out alright.
