We felt like we were treated like children in the first grade, and being watched like they were expecting us to make a wrong move. We brought a candle in, but was never lit, and yet we were accused of smoking and lighting the candle from a nosy person across the hall from us. The so called owner, Barbara approached us about it and we told her exactly what the candle was for (my friends birthday present). When we sat down to have breakfast, this Barbara came over to us and scolded us in front of another lady that was obviously a worker, or co-owner to that miserable place! We couldn't believe what was happening there. When I booked the "Simone' room online, the total price was $136.35 (tax= 7.35). When I got to the front desk, if you want to call it that, I was then told the bill is 148.35. I tried to explain to this woman named "Monica", that her price was wrong. She looked at me like a person would look at a 3 yr. old and she proceeded to say to me, "No, this is the price because of taxes". I should have walked away right then and never look back!! Little did we know that once we tried to get some sleep, there was constant walking on the next floor up. We told Barbara how we didn't get any sleep because of that, and she just shrugged her shoulders and said, "Oh, that was probably Simone walking around". I'm sorry to have experienced a bad, bad time there and I'm putting this mildly. I have to totally agree with Trevor U.'s comment on this horrible mistreated, unprofessional staff at Boulder Hot Springs!!!! They are totally weird, and I guess after speaking with a few of them I would have to say, that WE certainly did NOT fit in their weird 60's attitude style. Barbara and Monica need HELP in transforming to the way life should be.....RESPECT, PRIVACY, and PROFESSIONALISM!!! I have asked for a full refund, along with a couple of other charges made to my checking account. I have sent them an email as of yesterday (Jan. 28) and I have not had a response back from them. If I cannot get my refund, I will be contacting a higher authority from them and I will post on Face Book, Twitter, and anywhere else I please to let the public know about these undesirable people at Boulder Hot Springs and how we were treated like 3 yr. olds!! I absolutely loved my stay at Boulder Hot Springs & Resort and can't wait to return! The history of this place is incredible and beautifully captured in the décor and overall setup--it feels like stepping back in time while still being warmly welcomed into a comfortable retreat. We stayed in the Simone Suite, which is the only handicap-accessible room with its own bathroom. The room was clean, charming, and well-kept for a building of this age. It was perfect for accommodating my elderly mother who has Parkinson's, and the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The breakfast was phenomenal--organic, locally sourced, with generous portions, and they even catered to my dietary restrictions without hesitation. It was one of the best meals I've had traveling. A highlight of the trip was the on-site massage with Connie, the masseuse. She was absolutely wonderful--warm, kind, and attentive. Not only was the massage incredibly relaxing, but she also went the extra mile to accommodate my mom, which meant the world to us. We'll definitely be returning just for Connie's massages! While I didn't get to enjoy the pools as much as I'd hoped due to my mom's mobility, I still loved exploring and soaking in the history of the building and hot springs. The only challenge we had was the steep ramp access to the lobby/pool/spa area, which was difficult to manage with her condition. We found it safer to use the handicap parking area and drive around to the front entrance. Despite that, this truly is a hidden gem. The staff were wonderful, the atmosphere was one of a kind, and the town of Boulder, Montana is so quaint and welcoming. My mom, who grew up in Montana, had never visited before and wished she had when her health was better. This was such a special experience for both of us, and I will definitely be back at the next chance I get! read more

We stayed here while taking in the National Folk Festival in Butte. Found it on the web and thought, well its abit odd but we'll give it a try. Very glad we did so. Its an old resort that is being gradually restored to full functionality. When we first arrived the gal that greeted us was abit on the standoffish side but as our visit went on she became quite friendly and helpful. The other staff were excellent, always greeted us with a smile and a little conversation. The room we stayed in was on the small side but was very comfortable with its own bathroom (some accomodations here share). It was thoughtfully furnished and very clean. A caution: No phones, No TV's, No alcohol allowed on the premises. All three of these can be a blessing if one truly wants to retreat from the world for a wee bit. I poked around in some of the other rooms when they were being cleaned and found them all to be relatively the same except for much larger, and expensive rooms. The shared facilities by the way looked very clean and well maintained. There are separate hot plunges for men and women with clothing optional except for an evening time period in the mens on Friday (I think?) that was coed/family bathing with suits. The womens side also has a cold plunge. Outside is a medium size pool, suits required, and the temperature is wonderful! The breakfast was excellent. It was a buffet style on the weekends and one went away stuffed. On weekdays, the cook prepares you a wonderful meal based on your dietary restrictions if any. Excellent food and service. I grew up in boulder, and as such have been here several times. The building is a really cool spanish mission style, and its out and away from everything which is nice when you want to relax. Those are prob the only good things about it. Back when the hot springs was the "Diamond S", it was THE place to go to, it had a pool, a bar, a dance hall, great food, it is what made the place famous. Then some hippie author into the organic lifestyle took it over, and destroyed the place. Now the really cool old style bar and dance hall are vacant, locked up to collect dust. The food is HORRID, I mean absolutely horrible. The rooms have been stripped bare, containing only a bed, and a nightstand. The Hot and cold pools would be excellent respite, if you weren't in there with groups of naked men/women because clothing is optional. The people who frequent this place are there for 1) The extremely tasteless organic food. 2) Psychic seances to chase the "spirits" away. 3) Alcoholics there to attend their al-anon meetings. The management (barb and Kari) treat anyone who is not into the hippie organic free love lifestyle like they aren't worth the dirt on the floor of thier hotel. Skip this place and you'll be thankful. I just love this Boulder Hot Springs! I am from Germany and got to know the Hot springs some years ago and I come back again and again... The water is very healing and it has a peaceful energy and surrounding. If you want to relax, soak in the waters, have a calm time inmidst of nature it is your place. And I appreciate a lot the individuell special furnituring in the rooms. There are differences in price and luxury and they are all special. And the interieur is chosen with care to build a familiar and interesting stay. Also the breakfast is very good. You can choose a lot of things what are served and they offer it with care for people with food allergies like me. I like it also very much that it is an alcohol free and cigarette free environement. For me that is very supporting to feel at home and relax. The building is an old lady like a friend always says and that means you see the time gone by. I like that it is not perfect. And I see a lot of change and renovation over the years. Boulder Hot Springshas gotten for me more a home like a hotel over the years. And I meet there with people from all over the world at conventions. When you are in Montana I recommend to get a good soak or an overnight stay at the Hot Springs. read more

I have stayed at the beautiful Boulder Hot Springs many times. It is a unique place where I can go to relax and get away from the noise and bustle of the city. It is so peaceful there with the National Forest behind behind the buildings, the great view of the stars at night and the friendly, discreet staff who are always willing to do whatever they can to make your stay better. The valley it's placed in was historically a place for native tribes to come and soak in the healing waters without enemy tribes fighting with each other. The hot springs are considered to have healing properties and I definitely always feel better after a soak. The building is well cared for and features geothermal heat generated by the hot springs. I love this as well as the many other actions BHS takes to be kind to the environment. I believe they've won the Eco Star awards several times. I will definitely go back! read more

The Boulder Hot Springs is my favorite get-away place, in all seasons. The setting in Peace Valley is breath-taking, the B & B rooms as well as other rooms are creatively interesting and kept clean and inviting, the breakfasts and buffets are delicious, the indoor and outdoor mineral pools are soothing and healing, the conference area and lobby accommodates large groups nicely, the main lobby is richly western, the staff is friendly and remember me each time I return, national parks and treasures are nearby, the rooms are quiet with distractions of every-day-life virtually absent and I would say that it is an all-around great place to relax, rejuvinate and enjoy. The current owners are doing a great job with renovations in the west wing with a beautiful vision. I am eager for my next visit...for a couple of weeks in July. read more

I have stayed at Boulder Hot Springs several times over the past few years and been delighted each visit with the unique setting and historical flourishes. The bedrooms are comfortable and the hot pools offer a restorative & peaceful meditative opportunity. I enjoyed the opportunity to relax on the huge front porch with a number of marvelous rocking chairs to peruse the waterfowl on the pond and, on a good day, listen to a Sandhill Crane. The renovation of this century old building has been a labour of love by the owners and continues - a real commitment to preserve some very colourful history. This is a large property with lots of trails for walks or hikes. A wonderful opportunity to detach and immerse yourself in Hot Pools and History!! read more

Whenever I travel in the US, I make sure to be able to stay for some time at the Boulder Hot Springs hotel in Montana. The main attraction for me are the special healing waters in the inside and outside pools in a natural atmosphere. In Europe I would have to go to an exclusive spa to profit from such curative waters. The other assets I love about Boulder Hot Springs are the good organic food, the lovingly restored B&B rooms, the serene surroundings, the friendly staff and the suggestions I can glean there for a more natural, relaxed and environmentally friendly way of living. After an endless drive from Boston to Bigfork, Montana, I stayed at Boulder Hot Springs on the last night of the trip and left feeling renewed and refreshed. It is a testament to the healing power of the mineral hot springs and relaxed atmosphere that I could feel almost immediately recovered after three straight days in the car. What the hotel lacks in modern amenities is more than made up in the friendly staff, clean and cozy rooms and gorgeous natural surroundings. Stay a couple days in the autumn and take a hike up into the hills behind, or visit during mid-winter and you might be able to swim in the heated pool as snow falls, a truly magical experience. read more

The first time I stayed at Boulder Hot Springs, I was struck at how the surroundings contributed to my ability to get off the fast track of daily living. The friendly staff, healing mineral waters, the inviting veranda and rocking chairs, the cozy and comfortable accommodations, great healthy food and beautiful, spacious Montana sky put me at peace with myself. REALLY. I have gone back for much needed rest and relaxation and ALWAYS leave much more at peace with myself. I highly recommend if these things are important to you. Like this place, but you need to make the women's side co-ed as well! It was nice yall cleaned up the men's side and got rid of the naked perverts, but it's time to do so with the women's. My wife and kids don't like seeing naked, nasty, stinky fat women walking around the place. The last time there was 2 Lesbians in there doing very inappropriate stuff, naked in front my kiddos!
