This place is good for that but is great for the young guys that are truly making a go at a career in the sport. The young thirsty guys add to energy and vibe of this place. Instructors are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and above all supportive. Makes me smile thinking about the instructors walking around during sparring with direction and positive energy and feedback. This place has been open for a while and has been producing champions and professional grade martial artists. My guess is that many more champions will be born here over the years and that this place will receive more and more recognition globally as an MMA institution that produces the best out there! Come out and have some fun, or make your go a being a champion. This place is great for all.

It is a very family focused environment with some of the best BJJ coaches in Texas. All of their coaches are true Brazilian Black belts who have been world ranked, and all of them are former champions in Brazil and the US. They all have what is considered in the BJJ world Successful Careers in Brazil. The male coaches are some of the most humble and respectful individuals I've known. They enjoy teaching and it shows in how they connect with their students. They all began training in their early years. The female coach (Nene) is also very gifted and the former female Brazil No-Gi champion. These coaches are truly gifted. This gym follows the Brazilian pattern for advancement, no fake belts here. The values that these coaches teach have been lived out since they were children learning BJJ under Cicero Costha. It is a gym focused on training anyone who's willing to learn this lifestyle. Edmaicon, the founder of the gym is a powerful persona with the most positive spirit. When he enters a the gym the environment in the gym lights up. It's an amazing thing to see. Both my children have been learning under these wonderful coaches and have become so much more confident in themselves, and are clearly developing strong wills that don't just bend under pressure. My own experience has been one of camaraderie and support. It's worth just doing the free week tryout.

I signed up for a class here on ClassPass and was also treated rudely for no reason, I guess now I realize it's because I am a woman? This instructor here is a clown and so up his own ass he should teach contortionist lessons. He wouldn't teach me at all and was totally dismissive, he literally told me to go find someone else in class so he could sit off into space on the side in silence. Last time I checked my money was the same as anyone else, if your studio only wants to accept men/professionals, etc then make that clear on the website or class description instead of wasting everyone's time. The tagline on google says "Saekson Janjira Muay Thai is located in the heart of North Dallas, bringing the most authentic Muay Thai to Texas. Classes for kids, adults and fighters." maybe put an asterisk there and say "no women or beginners" mmkay?

I was trash talked by the coach leading the sessions and hit hard several times after I already said "I am no longer interested in sparring with you" At no time did I physically exert myself beyond a point of control during my time here yet the coach leading the class decides to call me out before I even warmed up, (told him I was warming up because I came to my FIRST session about 30 mins late.). As you can see I barely set foot into the gym floor before he approached me. I told him I was there to spar a friend and he got very offended, called me out to spar before I even had a chance to get my helmet on. After I hit him with some quick light jabs after which he lost all control. Mind you this man is approximately 40 lbs larger than me. Below are public links displaying his behavior. Upon visiting the facility to inquire about cancellation, I was informed that settling my yearly dues is a prerequisite. As a senior on a fixed income, I'm particularly sensitive to unexpected expenses. Given my eligibility for free gym membership through Medicare, I've opted for an alternative gym that participates in the program. It's concerning that Planet Fitness appears to prioritize membership fees over customer needs, continuing to deduct payments despite my infrequent use of the facility. I'm prepared to accept the financial implications of non-payment, as I believe the company's practices are unfair to consumers. I advise prospective members to carefully review the terms before committing to a membership.

The gym is in a great location and isn't usually too busy. You sometimes have to wait for a machine…read morebut it's not bad at all. It's generally very clean and it's a relaxing place to work out. My only real complaint is that several of the machines need lubrication and basic maintenance. I've told staff about them but they haven't addressed it. Also several of the machines are bent/crooked and have holes in the padding. I'm tempted to bring a tube of grease with me and do the maintenance myself. It takes seconds to reach into the weight area and add some grease to the rails. The tricep extension machine has a very crooked bar. IT's 4 degrees off level (the part you hold onto and push down with both hands) which puts unequal pressure on your wrists and elbows with each rep. Leg Extension Machine to the left of the leg press has really bad chatter greater than 140lbs which prevents it form operating smoothly. If you do a rep too fast the weight gets grabby and gets stuck. This HURTS. Dependent Bicep Curl machine is bent and missing a palm sized piece of padding where you lay your elbows. The handgrip arm is bent at an angle and is not level. This makes doing reps awkward and crooked and hurts your left wrist. The chest press machine directly behind the seated row machine and closer to the dumbell area is badly in need of lubrication. Anything over 100lbs and the force to get the bar moving goes up exponentially and it chatters and has jerky motion. The weights moving up and down on the metal rails get grabby and don't move smoothly. The seated row machine by the chest press also needs lubrication. Anything greater than 200lbs and you almost can't move the bar, then it suddenly becomes unstuck and moves normally until you do your next rep. It sometimes squeaks and chatters loudly when this happens.
