We needed to have the old 70s wood paneling painted in our main livingroom. We contacted TLC Services for an estimate and Luis came out. He gave us a quote for the painting but discussed some lighting issues we had. That wasn't in our initial plan but he gave us such a fair price that we couldn't say no. We had a ceiling fan in the dining area that needed replacing and he took care of that too! Needless to say, my husband and I couldn't be happier with the work. From the electricians to the painters to Luis himself, everyone was super nice to work with. The whole job took about 2 1/2 days so not only was the price fair but it was done in a timely manner too! One more thing I want to mention. Luis was EXCELLENT when it came to returning my texts and communicating everything up front when it came to the process and any issues that popped up along the way. I would not recommend this company to anyone, especially for a large project. We hired Luis and team for a full-house remodel on a "dream home" for our growing family - he said it would take 3-4 months. A year and a half later, we're having to find someone else to finish the job. The project is only about two-thirds of the way done, even though we've paid nearly the full quoted amount. Despite a big upfront payment, Luis continually asked us for more money to "accelerate the work" but we never saw more than incremental progress and long stretches with no work at all. We've now hired a lawyer to try to recover the money we paid for work that was never completed (or in some cases never even started). This has been an incredibly stressful situation over the last year, and has caused our family a major financial loss. I wouldn't wish what we have been through on anyone. From property damage to job abandonment and job abandonment. This company does it all when it comes to those things. Luis the property manager strung me along for more than 3 years, built a partial structure leaving holes on my roof and never pulling permits for it even though I had paid for it. He managed to turn this into the worst experience for me and my family for our first project on our very first home. Not only that but the house was brand new from the ground up and he managed to damage walls, windows, roofing and flooring by leaving holes on the roof. I had originally taken down a negative review due to an agreement that we made which involved him paying fort he damages. But like the project he started 3 years ago, he breached that agreement and abandoned it quickly. Please be mindful and do not pay this man until he finishes the work 100%. I have had The TLC Group working on some remodeling on my garage this summer. They have had to straighten the front wall while reframing and replacing the door. It was leaning in. They did an excellent job of it. They also completely reframed the back door and replaced it. Also installing siding on all three sides of the garage. I would stay away. We hired TLC for a large remodel (gut job) based in part on the positive reviews online. They demanded heavy upfront payment and continually asked for more cash to continue even though we had paid for a lot more than had been completed. They missed every timeline they gave us. There were repeated and unexplained delays, including weeks at a time where no one would show up to the site. Communication and responsiveness were poor and it was very hard to get any information or updates on the project. We are 15 months into what should have been a 5-6 month project and there's still a lot of work left even though at this point we've paid almost all of the agreed budget. We are now having to hire another contractor to finish the job. On top of that we have significant funds unaccounted for and I've had to hire a lawyer for the first time in my life to try and resolve this. I do not recommend working with TLC. I just bought my first home, and it needed to be brought into the 2000s. So I contacted Luis and his crew to help me resurface the walls because there was this ugly texture from the 80s on it, paint it because it was so dark and Cave-like, and then add some recessed lighting and new trim. They totally blew me away with the finished product. My house looks like a brand new house even though it is 35 years old. They gave me exactly what I wanted and we're very professional. I enjoyed chatting and hanging out with the crew when they were working in my house and Luis listen to me and gave me suggestions on what I should do to improve the home. I was going some carpentry for a remodel of one of our bathrooms on a Sunday afternoon... what could possibly go wrong... and after knocking in a finish nail I suddenly heard a hissing noise from the wall. TLC came out right away and had the leak fixed just a couple of hours after I'd made it. While there, TLC did a couple of additional jobs that helped us get this bathroom remodel done in time for holiday guests. This is an example of an unethical EXTREME OVERCHARGE! Taking advantage of homeowners during emergency weather conditions. During the deep freeze in Feb '21, several of our pipes froze and being from California, we were freaking out. This originally posted as San Francisco, CA. This is not in California. This was a job done in Garland, TX. They screwed up everything they touched. They were hired to paint,. do concrete work, countertops, fencing and wood flooring. They came in and painted without any prep work. If i had not complained Luis (Luis Maldonado, the Owner) would have left it like that. They painted some stuff the wrong color I actually found cans of spray paint in the house. They painted over the door knobs and when I told them to remove the knobs and sand it down they didn't do it. In the corners where there was trimwork they didn't paint it all. On the exterior they painted it the wrong color and again missed spots. When asked to fix it he ignored me. In the laundry closet he didn't finish laying the flooring told me couldn't do it because he couldn't get the water heater drained. I was able to do it myself later. When he poured the back patio I told him I wanted stairs on one side. He didn't do it. On the countertops he charged 55 dollars a square foot and then couldn't be bothered to seal the backsplash. On the fence he left 1/2 inch gaps between the boards they installed. The gate latch on the wrong side looked like it had been built by 3 year olds. He was asked to give us updates every week and show us receipts. He did neither. Luis was supposed to come back and fix everything although never showed. I came to look at it on the last week and he hadn't touched a single thing. It was at this point that I fired him. This was a job that he said would take 4-6 weeks to complete.
