How do you feel about a gym being bleached only at the busiest times because the owner won't do it himself and can't get anyone to work for him? This and more only for $60 a month. The rest is - -music (on/off, selection and volume) has always been questionable -locker rooms (at least men's) are very bare bones -the weekend opening person (at least previously) would typically show up to open anywhere between scheduled opening and 20+ minutes late -Management sold a previous price increase on going to 24 hour operations and new equipment coming in. 24 hour operations was short lived (not necessarily their fault even if poorly executed) and the new equipment didn't show up for nearly a year and even then was marked "for use with mgmt approval". -while understanding the need for "survival" through Covid, the membership (while closed) and mask (when opened again) policies were questionable. -Cardio equipment is extremely limited. Metfit has increased their membership price past their value at this point for what they offer (excepting only if you really want to work with one of their specific, admittedly great trainers).

I come here mainly on weekends, when my home Y closes way the heck too early (4pm vs 7pm here)…read more I'd say that about 70-80% of their equipment is fine. Lots of free weights and strength machines. The highlight is the huge, high-ceilinged (30-40ft?) functional fitness space that features a turf area, a sled, kettlebells, plyo boxes, plyo smash balls, a do-it-all calisthenics multi-station that includes weighted pulleys, dip and pullup and monkey bars, a free hanging real boxing bag (nice angled uppercut bag that's just the right weight to make you "dance" to avoid the swing back, yet forgiving enough that you can punch it without gloves without risking a broken wrist or bruised knuckles), a pair of Assault bikes and treadmills, a Concept rower, some meh Schwinn stationary bikes (more on that later), and two full squat cages with plenty of plates and barbells. So, what about the other 20-30%, you ask? Well, their cardio machines range from so-so to unusably lousy. All the treadmills are Precor, which are a clear step down from the Life Fitness TMs most Ys have: smaller uglier fuzzy screens with spotty internet connection that can freeze up in the middle of a workout, noisier and less stable platform. The stationary bikes are a mix of Precor (typical mediocre gym bike with crap ergonomics where you feel like you're on a creaky toy bike pedaling against some barbaric pad not magnetic resistance) and Espresso (video-gaming type bike clearly designed to seduce ADD teenagers or lazy af adults) and the horrible Schwinn bikes (just as bad as most home exercise bikes, you can understand why people mostly use them as clothes hangers). Please please please can you guys get at least a few KEISER bikes? We know you can have decent taste in cardio machines because you kept your CONCEPT rowers instead of choosing some oversized gym-brand rowers which look impressive but have similarly lousy ergonomics. Oh and they have non-mechanical Assault brand treadmills which nobody uses because they are brutal on the knees, too narrow and unstable. I don't know who was in charge of choosing the cardio equipment, but that person needs to be put to work cleaning the bathrooms or something more appropriate! The other major gripe I have is their sauna --- it's spacious and new and pretty, but who in the hell decided to have only ONE row of seating? Completely idiotic, folks: did you not pass seventh grade Life Science, where they teach you that heat RISES, and that's why all real saunas have TWO levels of seating, with the 2nd one being a good 4-5 feet off the ground so that you get the full benefit of the heat in the room? Here you have to STAND on the damned low benches if you want to get a decent sweat in ... the sauna thermometer reads 170F but if you're sitting down you'd be lucky to get 140-150F, which is useless. (The sauna of the Melrose YMCA has the same idiotic mistake.) So, while I'm grateful that this Y offers me decent hours to work out on weekends making the long drive out there worthwhile, their cardio machines selection and sauna design really really need a rethink.

It's a franchise and each location has its quirks. If you have never done reformer pilates - TAKE YOUR TIME. It can be intimidating. Once I got myself into the studio, it was an interesting experience from there. Expect everyone to be delicately lean and know what they are doing (to a fault) when it comes to pilates. Other skills... well, we all are different. As a latino, I felt odd. As a 12 year zumba instructor, a lot of the mechanics were second nature to me, albeit the instructor for the day tried a "little too hard. Kudos for keeping safety at the forefront. It's not cheap, so if you are looking for price, this isn't the place for you. Given the drive and off of Route 9 (MY NEMESIS), I have some considerations. But I'd like to at least try the 4 pack one on one training sessions to get into the groove and see if this is something I can commit to longer term. As with any other program - work your way into it, unless you are one of the young superfreaks of nature (me, 35 years ago!). Pilates can be a gentle and effective way to strengthen, tone and lengthen, improving posture, balance and overall functional fitness activities (aka life in general). I have mixed feelings but I wasn't totally put off (chime in here F45 Wakeforest, NC area...). It's a logistics thing. If you are mainstream, middle income - you'll find yourself a great place to take your fitness to a new challenged.

I attended an intro class, so the instructor essentially shows you all the basics of the reformer as well as some ground exercises. Tammy, my instructor, was condescending and rude. She kept laughing at me and the other girl in the intro class. I thought i was going crazy but she felt it too! I felt really self conscious the whole time and discouraged to go back unfortunately. Do better Club Pilates or you'll continue to lose people that just want to exercise and feel good about themselves.

Feb2023:4: I have been using this location since I have been taking care of my father in this area…read more I found that some of the people who use this facility seem to put their bag or clothes on the machine as if to reserve it while they are using a nearby machine or floor exercises. What?!? This location has a lot of members who takeover a weight machine and areas for 10 minutes removing the machine from other member's usage. The staff apparently allows this to happen without stopping the behavior. Jan2023: 4: I could recommend this location on this day. I believe this location could compete with the big brand name fitness facilities in the nearby area. I decided to try a new fitness center location since I was near where my family member lives and goes to the medical center. This one was the closest one within 3 mi of the medical appointment location. It was seemingly attached to another business at the front door and that business seems to be attached to another food business out front of the complex. The business is located within a small mall set off the main one lane highway adjacent to a major auto repair store. The front of the building is well marked but is clearly visible from the street. I did note that there was available handicap parking adjacent to the front of the entrance and convenient for entry into the facility. There are plenty of regular parking spots available in the immediate area. There were not enough workers at the front door. Some were fairly attentive and others were too distracted upon entry into the facility to the point of not even saying anything upon entering. The facility circles around to several workout areas for use. The heavyweights are not near the front door and the machine weights are off to the left after entering the facility. It is on one level with no stairs. The whole center area is dedicated to the treadmills, bicycles, and stair aerobics type machines. When I checked the men's locker room, I found that the area was clean. There were no broken lockers in the facility with the faces torn off, although several of the lock circles were broken. The shower areas and the dressing room areas were clean, operational, and available when I checked. All of the showers appear to be functional and clean. I checked the black card area and I saw no out of order signs on any of the equipment. There were several out of order signs on the other central equipment. Several of the machine weights need to be adjusted and calibrated accordingly. They had a worker out making adjustments and cleaning equipment when I was there in the facility. The hydro bed they have available is a flat type. There is a small cooler at the front door across from the entry desk.

I begrudgingly rescheduled for 02/14/26, got the requisite texts and emails excitedly prepping me for the upcoming delivery date. Today at around 4 PM I received a call telling me that I would have to reschedule again due to shipping issues. I canceled my order at that point. They obviously don't need my business. So I switched to the app one at $25 a month and now no longer have access to the analytics on the bike. I have no idea what speed what resistance and how many miles I have gone. I have a non-peloton rowing machine and treadmill, and I am able to follow along with the analytics on those machine when I take rowing classes and tread classes using the same Peleton app. Peloton is doing their customers customers, a Significant disservice by not allowing access to the analytics on the bike when using their app and their bike shame on them. They are the only reason I keep coming back. They will make sure you have the right postures. They will also help with modifications, and ensure that you are safe, if you have any sort of injuries or pregnant. The only con is when they are training for new instructors. I can definitely tell the difference between a seasoned instructor and a new one. Another con (for me) - they offer bar move, or level two, that are more intense, but not nearly enough (only 2 classes per week). I like the move and level two because I think they are harder. They also have a beautiful space, and friendly and helpful staff. The facts (not necessarily cons, but just what to expect): As to be expected for a place in Wellesley, you get what you pay for. It's pretty costly to go regularly. It is mostly women, with a certain look (read - nice yoga pants and pretty workout tops). But they are not judgmental, or I never felt judged. They dont have a separate men/women locker room. But you also dont sweat like crazy for these type of exercise, that you need to rinse or bring any change of clothes. They have cubbies right outside of the studio.
