I think orange theory has the best workouts available but I am no longer a member…read more I would love to go back for the high intensity because as a member I was never in better shape. I was fit and was able to control my weight. I particularly liked the Tabatha workouts. It is great for the heart and I hear it is boosts my metabolism. Their first class is at 5:00 which makes it appealing. I am an early riser and like to start my day with a workout.

I'm not sure why there seem to be reviews from people who aren't in the Wellesley area (visitors, I…read moreguess?). A couple of the negative reviewers also seem to fall into the "anything less than five stars is one star" approach to Yelp reviewing, but the negative ones don't begin to describe the studio where I've been going for the past year. (And if you're going to attack an employee about their hairstyle, maybe you should grow up a bit before you write another review.) In my experience, the staff has been universally friendly, helpful, and attentive. The coaches have different styles ranging from fairly laid-back to hyperkinetic, so if you have a strong preference for an approach in how you're coached you'll have to find your favorites. All the coaches I've worked with, however, are clearly trying to become better at their jobs and frequently ask for feedback on how they're doing. (If I have an overall suggestion, it would be that all the coaches offer more frequent advice on proper form for the weight exercises. Some do this regularly; others almost not at all.) I enjoy the variety in the classes--every day is something a little different--plus they always provide exercise alternatives for anyone dealing with injuries. My goal is overall fitness--not bulking up or massive cardio gains--and OT definitely delivers. The studio is clean if small (the changing area can get crowded between classes). The equipment always seems to be well-maintained, especially when you consider how much it gets used on a daily basis. I'd probably give OT four stars overall because of some issues in variability in how the franchises get run. (Checking the Reddit forums, it's pretty clear that the franchisees have a fair amount of leeway in day-to-day operations.) It's not a problem overall for me--and certainly not the fault of the staff--but it may explain why some people give Wellesley lower ratings since how things are run here may differ from other studios.

it's ok, I would give it 3 stars. You get a trainer, and based on scheduling, it can be up to 4…read moreother women per session. You choose if you want to work upper or lower body, and then the trainer shows you 5 or 6 exercises, you do 4 sets of each, takes about 30 minutes. The you're on either treadmill or elliptical for another 30 minutes, doing intervals of quick and slow pace. It depends on your trainer how much you're going to get pushed. Some trainers you can say "oh, this is too heavy" and they give you a lighter weight ... others will push you. And by the way, all trainers are very muscular men, which is why, I guess, a bunch of women keep coming back. Nutritional advice was kind of lame - don't eat carbs, no alcohol, no sweets, lots of water. They provide protein powder at the gym, which you are welcome to take after your workout. Really like the fact that they have a folder with all kinds of recipes. it is very expensive, and they want you to committ to at least 6 months. The owner is very nice and pleasant to talk to. I was there for a month with a groupon, ended up not staying after it was done. Scheduling is VERY frustrating. You have to talk to the owner each week to schedule next week's classes. I would much rather prefer going online and making my own schedule. no parking, so you have to look for a meter each time, kind of annoying.

But in my opinion if you advertise a nutrition plan, you should be able to answer questions and help clients with their nutrition. Also, the "personal training" is nothing more than a circuit that you can do yourself and the trainers don't even pay attention to what you did before or help you improve - they just go through the motions. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM. IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY FOR ANYONE WHO HAS EVER WORKED OUT BEFORE. AWFUL! If there was a negative star - I would do that.

I was (am) new to CrossFit but all the coaches and staff have been welcoming and understanding, taking their time to explain the proper technique and making sure I felt comfortable. Group classes is they way to go if you want to get real results, and there is no better place for that than CrossFit Marauder. In addition to CrossFit, they offer other types of group classes, boxing and even yoga. They offer many time slots, so you will likely find one that works for you. It really is the best place to get into and stay in shape in the area.
