We had a small group of 5 for dinner. Cocktail and an appetizer at the bar were good. We really liked the flat bread with goat cheese and caramelized onion. The Nachos that others had looked amazing too. The Cottage Pie is always great. As was the Pepper Jack Fettuccine. One in the group had the Chicken Cordon Bleu and said it was one of the best meals ever. The only minor disappointment was the Blackened Tacos. Came here expecting to have a great experience per my mother-in-law, who was talking it up all weekend. Let me say that I was very underwhelmed. The location and ambience is great, but there was nothing else to write home about. Our waitress, who never introduced herself was so rude the entire time. 'What would you like to drink?' Was our greeting. We also had questions about the menu that she seemed to be annoyed about. My dish came with soup or salad, she stated the soups were hearty vegetable and gumbo. When I was given my soup it was full of shredded chicken. I've never had a vegetable soup that had chicken in it. Had she come back in a timely manner maybe I could've traded in my soup before our main course got there. She was very inattentive and seemed to be in a rush to get to nowhere. We waited a long time to get any sort of refills and a straw was thrown on our table when someone in the group asked for one. I watched her interact with other tables and offered them smiles and a friendly attitude. I'm not sure what we did other than try and have a nice night. She seems like more of a back of house employee than a front of house employee. She absolutely made the experience awful. The food was just meh. TJ's is a really nice bar and restaurant right on Lake Winnebago. We were here on an early Saturday evening to check it out & have a drink during a get-away "ride" we were taking. The location was very busy due to a Homecoming prom; lots of teens and parent chaperons, but we still got a seat in the inside bar. I say "inside" because, at the time, there was an outside bar with at least twenty-five people sitting at the bar itself or near it on two top tables. We might have sat outside if there was room, but we could still see the lake from our seats at the inside bar; a very nice view. We decided to have an appetizer meal and ordered crab cakes. They were unique; a home made version that was very good. The menu looked great, and on the special board, they had prime rib listed and some other items I can't remember. Our two bartender servers were very attentive, informative and efficient. There's plenty of parking here in a lot just off the road. So far my wife says this is the best restaurant she's been to in a long time. Great atmosphere, views of lake Winnebago, selection of food was great, selection of drinks were great. Overall I gave this restaurant a 5. Parameters for this review are; atmosphere for the views of the lake, Comfort and noise level in the resturant. Food selection, Quality of the food, Mix and Blended drink selection, and last but not least was the service was outstanding. Our server Becky was very helpful with all of the selections we were looking at and she gave her Recommendations based on the food she had eaten at the restaurant. This place has a 5 star view of the lake with about 3-1/2 star food. Its good. Service was okay, nothing to gripe about. We got there late so we were able to be seated on the upper deck outside. The view was awesome but the mosquitos were not. They do have spray but you have to go away from the eating area to use it. We ordered the fried cheese curds at the recommendation of our server. So thankful we did. They really were different than other places. They are fresh and hand battered daily according to her. Definitely would get those again. The cottage pie is so good! We stopped in for lunch and we're seated quickly. The restaurant was not busy. Our waiter appeared after about five minutes and said he would be back shortly to take our order. He returned in about five more minutes to take our drink order: tea and Diet Pepsi were ordered . He said he would be back shortly with our drinks and would take our order then. We stopped him before he left our table and explained that I have an allergy to msg and asked him to check to see if the sandwich we were interested in had msg in or on it and if it did what items might be safe for me to eat. He returned several minutes later to inform us that all of the burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, and salads had msg. He said the only thing that might be safe were a couple of the pizzas. We said we would pass. He then gave USA bill for the two drinks. I do appreciate that accurate information about the food containing msg. I even appreciate the ambiance of the restaurant with its waterfront view. I'm surprised that we were charged for drinks that we didn't end up drinking. I've come here a few times and I love this place! There food is phenomenal for the price and I've never been upset about food! On another note, my friends and I have come to here twice and both times we have ordered drinks and been asked to give an ID. We all gave our IDs and all were above the age of 21, yet our server "knew" they were "fake". Again we came in and I made a joke about my friend being from Hawaii and she somehow took that as we had fake IDs. Please scan IDs so you don't falsely accuse good paying customers. read more

We stopped here for the first time a few weekends ago and we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is casual, but clean and modern with an upper floor and deck area overlooking the lake. Our server was friendly and helpful without being overbearing. My boyfriend ordered a hamburger with fries and was pleased with the quality and the fact that the burger was cooked medium rare as he asked. I ordered the fish tacos which were perfectly delicious. Stopped in for lunch. Beautiful place facing the lake. Well designed and beautiful space - fireplace, a d overall decor is nice blend of metal, wood, stone and fabrics. Sat at bar. Good drinks. Friendly Bartenders. Clam chowder was good, gumbo was outstanding. I love the osso bucco at Angelos in NYC on Mulberry Street. Never thought better could be made. TJ's is right there. Cooked perfectly- although I note some like more of a crust, I like al dente. And the white bean, carrot, celeriac and sausage dressing was sublime. Great place. Although this restaurant is nicely Located we arrived during the local air show. A time when it is particularly busy. Even with that the food was certainly tasteful. The fish menu is what is to be expected on the lake and in the area. I personally got a vegetarian wrap. The wrap was nicely filled and very tastefully done with plenty of dressing. My wife had what I would call Shepherds Pie. It too was nicely done with plenty of chicken and vegetables. All in all a good place to go. read more

My husband would probably give TJ's 4 stars so overall let's say they're a 3.5. Others have said it's one of the nicest places in the area and I'd wholeheartedly agree. It's bright, modern and blessed with great views across the lake. In nice weather there's a beautiful patio, and it looks like they have event space as well. We chose to sit at the bar so we could both watch the game and enjoy the lake views. TJ's does have a pretty good tap list and their bloodies appear to be very popular. You can get Miller Lite too, which I did ($2.75). The Mister started with a cup of their gumbo and it was pretty good - a little spicy and full of sausage and shrimps. He followed that up with a shrimp po'boy and liked it very much, although the waffle fries were way overcooked and hard. My first choice wasn't available so I defaulted to a burger which was "fine". I really do like the nice toasted roll it was served on - the menu says they're homemade. The burger itself was large (1/2lb?) and you can add cheese. I opted for Gouda and received a paper-thin slice which tasted of nothing at all. Service was "fine" too - the bartender wasn't exactly unfriendly, but was a little standoffish. That said, it's undoubtedly a nice place and I'd come back to try something else. read more

Good food, very nice view of the lake, nice help with slow service at every step, with reservations took about 2 hours. No crayons for kids. It was noisy during the lunch hour. Waitress needed reminding and made a mistake on a kids order, it never came until the adults were all finished and waiting for the check, the kids were past ready to leave. She made a public announcement that, we will have to pay for the meal since we ordered it... we didn't ask her that. Charged for the kids meal, we left it there. Service was great! Food was kinda gross. There were four of us and so I asked each person would they come back and what they liked. Nobody said they'd be back to eat, but most said they might be back for a drink. We had an appetizer which no one liked, and three out of the four of us couldn't finish our entrees. What a neat place! We decided to stop in while in WI for Oshkosh. It's right on the water with lots of outdoor seating and a full service bar! I ordered the shrimp po boy and it was overflowing with succulent fried shrimp ($11) with a fantastic sweet and spicy sauce. The waffle fries ($1.5 up charge) weren't the best so my husband ate them. The hubby ordered the Gorgonzola burger ($14) and it was the largest burger I have ever seen! His came with the basic chips and he liked them both. The ambiance is wonderful and staff was friendly! We were on our way back from a Packer game and since our normal place down the road was closed we thought we would give TJs a try. I had a tough time giving this place a rating because 3 seemed to low and 4 seemed a bit to high, but after all said and done we really did like it here I just would order something different the next time. When we walked in we really liked the place in side and when we went to the patio we were in love. I will say that the service seemed a little slow for as busy as they were but we didn't mind because we were enjoying the lakeside atmosphere and our waitress was super friendly. Now for the food, first off my wife ordered a mango margarita and all I can say is that they need to just stop offering it as an option. It might have been the worst mango margarita I have ever tasted, I don't think my wife even drank half of it. We ordered a cheese curds which were awesome, and the dipping sauce made them even better. I would come back just for those. My wife and SIL ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and they were both very happy, they raved about the bun. My daughter got the nachos that were not bad, they were nothing special. I ordered the turkey club and it was just not good. I can't think of a single person I know that likes their turkey thick cut and that is what it had on it. When you have thick turkey it was a tendency to get dry and that is exactly what happened. In addition to that the bread was over toasted which made it even dryer. Bottom line is I am sticking with my 4 star rating because we really did enjoy the atmosphere at this place and there is a good selection on their menu for me to try other things. When you charge someone a dollar and a half just to split an entrée and all they gave us extra was the other plate, that's ridiculous. When an iced tea cost more than a beer, that's ridiculous. When you get fries instead of chips and it costs you two bucks and they don't tell you, that's ridiculous. So TJ's, get your sh*t together. Two stars for the view....which besides the cheese curds is the only thing that this place has going for it. Twenty minutes to get a bottle of wine, which when it arrived the waitress reported that the cork broke and they had to fish the cork out of the bottle. Hmmmm...maybe get me a new bottle? Took over an hour for our food to come. I ordered the southwest salad and when it came out the dressing and lettuce was warm, chicken chewy like it had been sitting there. I sent it back. I tasted my SO's Walleye and it was overly spicy...his brussell sprouts hard. Our friends were too polite to say anything since we had suggested the place but I noticed a lot of their food went uneaten. You'd think that after this horrible service and food being sent back the manager would have come over and said something....but the fact no one did speaks volumes about this place. Yes I realize it is EAA week...we are all pilots and that is why we are in town...but everyone is busy this week and we've never experienced anything like this. And bad food is bad food. Our children raved about the place and so we decided to try it. Very nice place with a great view of the lake. It was our anniversary so we made reservations in case it was busy. Went with some buddies before a golf outing, we got there around 1130 on 5/19. Place wasn't busy. We ordered their loaded nachos......very big portion, those came out right away. We ordered the tenders basket and artichoke dip appetizer, it took over 30 minutes to get that out to us. We are not locals, and the bartenders weren't very attentive to us. Nice atmosphere, good food for the price, but the staff needs to do a better job of not standing at one end of the bar talking to regulars! We are all paying customers, so make us all feel welcomed. read more

My family stopped by here on the way back from the Packers/Vikings game. It was a beautiful evening to eat outside. Which will definitely make us return if we are In the area. Now food wise we were not wowed by anything we ate but there are other things we will try on the menu. However I will say that we had fried cheese curds as an app and they were delicious, esp dipped in the sauce they served with it. I was craving a good margaritas and that is not what I got. The mango margaritas was probably the worst I have ever had. Definitely will not return for a drink. From the moment we walked into our first trip to TJ's on our Silver Wedding Anniversary, we were impressed. Jarod at the bar went above and beyond to make us feel special in addition to making tasty cocktails and having good conversation. The views are gorgeous of Lake Winnebago. The cheese curds and sauce were outstanding. My husband's ribeye with hash browns and asparagus were the best he's had in years. My seafood pasta entree was delicious and full of scallops and shrimp. Huge portions. We had made reservations on the second floor with spectacular views. Our server, Whitney, also went above and beyond to make our anniversary dinner special.
