The overall experience is pretty good, but I don't think I would consider anything exceptional. The service was very friendly. A few things to note, their cocktail menu is amusing because their specialty drinks mostly seem to be five different standard recipes with slightly different preparations to turn them into Mojitos or spritzes or margaritas. Do you want something with blueberries? Pick your preparation. All of them are too sweet. Their peanut butter crème brûlée was tasty, but doesn't really qualify as a crème brûlée. It was basically a runny, peanut butter flavored almost pudding. Their pizzas were really good though. Frankly, I was most surprised by the ambience. For a place that looks so big from the outside. It seemed really cramped inside I walked around all of the seating areas and it was the same everywhere. While they bill themselves as being on the water, you really can't see the water from any seat in the house from what I observed, even if you're out on the deck, which is terribly uncomfortable in July. We actually were seated at possibly the worst table in the house. In a back corner behind the first floor bar next to a window that only showed you the backside of another building and a sliver of grass. The upstairs seating is truly undesirable because they've converted an area that wasn't meant to have tables in. It is super cramped up there and also everywhere on the first floor. The only place with a little bit of elbow room is the deck. You know a place is to cramped when the servers have to negotiate moving between tables to avoid patrons and other servers. read more

The waterfront location is definitely the biggest draw here. Sitting outside overlooking the harbor makes for a really nice setting, especially during the summer. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the view. We tried the nachos, mahi tacos and drinks, and while everything was fine, nothing really stood out. The flavors were what you'd expect from a lakeside bar. Service was very friendly, but overall the experience felt more like you're paying for the location than the food itself. Truly, this is one of the better restaurants you're likely to find in Wisconsin. It's huge, and the room with the wood-fired pizza oven smells like smoke but ventilation is good enough that we didn't reek of smoke after dinner. Go for the Friday fish fry, the beer battered Haddock is one of the best fish fry options you'll ever find. Wow, it was good. Fries were cold but still seasoned well and somewhat tasty and it was EAA week so I'll give them a pass but the fish was AMAZING. The cheese curd appetizers had a light tempura-style batter and were very good although it's a bit unusual that they use yellow cheddar curds rather than just about every other places that uses white cheddar curds. C'est la vie. The Wisconsin Old Fashioned was large and pretty good though the sugar needed to be better muddled/incorporated. Overall though my group of 6 relatives were VERY happy with their meal and this is clearly one of the best options in the area. Indoor spaces are nice while the outdoor bar and tables were packed the entire time we were there, obviously things are a bit different during EAA AirVenture week but I would return here any time. Gluten free options AND they're delicious! I haven't had gumbo for a while but at TJ's - no worries! They have many gluten free options. My wife and I shared a nacho bowl and the gumbo. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. She was very helpful with the how to identify what is gluten free (there is a "gf" next to the item). Upon walking on, my very first impression was that it has a nice atmosphere. It has a nautical them which is natural since they're on the lake. The only downside is that most of the seating is bar stool but they do have some regular chair seating. We will come back! read more

I had a fantastic time at TJ's, it was recommended by a friend who used to work there years ago and it holds up. Gorgeous space right on the lake and even though we were there in winter, it was still a pretty sight to look out the windows. The restaurant was packed with regulars and the it was a fun Friday night, I'm glad they took reservations. We started out with drinks, which had a separate menu. Not the easiest to navigate for the specials as they just had funny names and not what was in it. Overall my old fashioned was super sweet due the maple syrup, so I would probably just stick with your usual order. As for the food, the CHEESE CURDS were truly some of the best that I've had! Ooey, gooey, deliciousness! Perfect crunch and also melted in your mouth. The menu itself is very extensive and there is something for everyone to eat. I appreciated that most of the entrees came with a soup or salad, though I will say that none of the food absolutely wow'ed me. The dessert was interesting. The brownie was classic and the gluten free cheesecake..was gluten free. Very strange in my opinion, but appreciate that they have it as an option. Overall, I would definitely come here for a fish fry, a drink, and I can totally see this place hopping in the summer. read more

What a hidden gem right on the lake! So many options I will have to go back a few times to try them off. Staff is super friendly and energetic as they have a lot of ground to cover. The outdoor deck on the second floor was my favorite spot. I opted for the frutta di mare. Unfortunately, I didn't know there was an issue with the muscles so there was only shrimp in the pasta, but it was still very fresh and delicious. The mock tails tasted just like a cocktail and super flavorful. The club sandwich was loaded! I can't wait to go back on another sunny day. They also do brick oven pizzas, but there was a private party that day so I didn't get to check that out. read more

Excellent service during our Saturday night during EAA visit. We had reservations which helped avoid a 1.75 hour wait(!) The cocktails were great too - I had the blueberry basil margarita, and Richard had the Hugo Spritz. Both delicious. The salmon main course with mushroom risotto was perfect. The beef with gnocchi was a bit heavy, but tasty cheesy sauce. The cheeseburger soup was original, but not sure why so much Old Bay flavoring was in the spicy Cajun gumbo. Our family of 10 just came there for a birthday celebration. Four of our party ordered the prime rib hoagie. None of them could hardly eat their sandwich because it was full of fat and gristle. Disgusting. The other food was satisfactory but I'm super upset that their hoagies were even served to them that way. They are not complainers so they didn't say anything to the waiter. Had a mixed bag experience here. The restaurant is on the lake and has a great atmosphere. We enjoyed the draft beer selection, I had a terrific Stubborn Brothers Blackberry Fruited Sour and my husband had the always reliable Oberon Ale. Gabby was our server, she was terrific! The food, however...huge disappointment! The gumbo was watery and not given the time it needed to meld the flavors just right. I had the Walleye with a cauliflower sauté...the fish was very good, but the cauliflower sauté was OVERWHELMED by a ridiculous amount of bacon (unmentioned in the description.) I'm glad I wasn't pescatarian. The accompanying squash was tough and lukewarm, I suspect cooked earlier and waiting to be dished up. My husband got the Gnocchi with a rubbery sirloin steak and a sad potato gnocchi. Neither of us finished our meals. I would definitely go back for the view and drinks, no food. If I could leave zero stars I would. To start, we had a 6pm reservation and didn't get sat until 6:40 because they told us "a table is celebrating a graduation and they are closed out and will be leaving soon." After hearing this we waited the extra 40 minutes, even though we were also celebrating a graduation. It then took 45 minutes just to receive our appetizers, and another 50 minutes to get our main entrees. They did not recognize or compensate anything for us, had no managers come to discuss what was happening, but instead made their hosts and servers have to try to compensate. Just to top it off, after all the wait half of the food sent out for our group was cold and only one person was brave enough to send it back. The management and ownership is absolutely horrible and we can promise we will never be back again. Thank you for making sure of this management team! read more

I went with their house made fettuccini with blackened salmon after she said that was the more flavorful between this and salmon with risotto. I wanted to love it but lacked some flavor needing to add salt and asking for red pepper flakes. My criteria on this Sunday afternoon for a place to meet up with friends was a big list: a place on the water, with a broad menu, that poured some great drinks and had outdoor seating. Tj's hit them all and as an added bonus even had live music on a recent Sunday Funday! We were seated upstairs on the outdoor deck. Outdoor seating is first come first served so if you want to be up there, pull open the front door and run up the stairs. The table are out back and give you the best views of Lake Winnebago. We had a lot of catching up to do so we ordered a couple of frozen margaritas which were perfect for this hot Summer's day. Alison, our server was spot on, checking in to make sure we had what we needed and never missing a beat, and she had a lot of tables so this was no small feat! We ordered simply- nachos for me to nibble on and a cup of gumbo and tacos for my friend. Those nachos were interesting- white cheese sauce with rotisserie chicken, olives, jalapeños, lettuce and pico de gallo. They definitely hit the spot with me! And my friend said his food was also good- with enough for him to take some home for the next day! The live music was an added bonus- she was very good and I wished we could have just sat with a drink and listened all afternoon but we couldn't. So we paid our reasonable bill and headed out. The salmon was good but ended up throwing out the remaining salad as it had too much dressing and not much flavor. I even asked for the dressing on the side, and they could not accommodate me. Party of 3 adults, 1 child went on 9/28/2025. The outside of the restaurant looked promising, we made reservations on the way there. Had never been there before. We sat outside on the upper deck, very nice table overlooking the lake. The menu is simple items, We had a cheese curd appetiser and requested soup before our main entree; the waitress had to be asked to bring napkins for our greasy hands after the appetizer. The squash soup was ok, tasted more like ginger than squash. Had a salad, which was not worth the almost $17.00 by the time the waitress added 1.00 or so for each small plastic condiment container of salad dressing. Are they kidding? Each one contained about 2 tablespoons of dressing. The salad was the amount of an organic tub of greens, a half cup each of cheese, roast pulled chicken, and cucumbers. The chicken has very little flavor, no croutons, and would've been really dry without extra dressing & the waitress never said the types of dressing, I had to ask. Overall blah tasting lunch. My daughter & son in law liked their plate of 2 shrimp tacos & a good size burger. My grand daughter liked her shrimp lunch at $12 from the kids menu(!). We all had one drink & spent $111.00 which for what we had I thought was alot. Won't be going back. read more

We visited TJs on our boat. We were celebrating my daughter's 14th birthday. The food was amazing! They provided the birthday girl with a huge brownie and ice cream after our meal. We had a 7:15 Friday reservation, arrived at 6:45, and were told they couldn't get us a table until after 8pm because the people ahead of us hadn't ordered for over an hour after arriving, and bizarrely they wouldn't give us another table. So being hungry, we decided to eat at the bar. Then, the games started. First, we were told they were out of haddock, so we we ordered the perch and soup. Then, they came back and said they were out of soup. So we left. Horrible customer service, no planning for a Friday rush. Oh, and it was too loud to think.
