WARNING!!!!! Large aggressive male customer physically threatens & intimidates female sales asso. & Home Goods, owned by TJ Maxx, does NOTHING to protect her.
On Tues evening, Jan 29th, a very large rabid man was sent into the Oro Valley, AZ. store to confront a sales associate over the cost of a few items his "wife" didn't want to pay for. She didn't agree with the price of some wooden shelves & thought they should be cheaper. She & her 2 daughters left disgruntled even though I apologized to them for the difference in price information and wished them a good night. Within 2 hours, a huge deranged behemoth came into the store & caused an ungodly ruckus; swearing in front of customers, complaining, and physically intimidating 4 female associates.
This poor excuse for a "man" invaded my personal space, was closer to me then he should've been since he was on the side of the registers, not across, and towering over me while yelling.
He refused to leave or get his behavior under control when asked by the acting manager to settle down. Because his rage was aimed at me, I refused to engage with him and he yelled after me, "you're not going to talk to me? You're going to run away like a little bitch?!"
I barricaded myself in the locked employee's room & called my husband for help. I should've called the police at that time too. If I had known then that Home Goods was going to do NOTHING to protect me, I would have.
My husband rushed to the store with his sidearm as he was the only one willing to protect me.
I was escorted out of the building & to my vehicle. Good thing my husband is large and was armed because this sociopath was waiting in his truck for me to exit the store. I have no idea what he was planning to do once I emerged but it was something otherwise he wouldn't have been waiting for me in the parking lot. He saw I was with my armed husband and after several minutes of shining his truck lights on us and moving his vehicle slowly towards us, he decided to slowly move out of the parking lot. The only smart thing he did that night.
Home Goods management, that would be Christina & Jackie of the Oro Valley store, have not bothered to call & check on me at all. I walked out of my shift & will not be returning to work since Home Goods clearly is not concerned with the emotional & physical safety of their employees.
Instead, no doubt they have placated to this type of behavior and have rewarded them with store gift certificates.
Home Goods has groomed their customers to have unrealistic expectations & to treat their associates like shit. Sorry HG but you don't pay us enough to accept this kind of abuse from you or the customers.
I'm very disappointed with the inhumane way I've been treated & discarded. I promise you this isn't over. I might feel differently if someone had called to check on me and showed some form of human compassion but they haven't. Because of the dangerous situation I've found myself in last Tues night, I will not be returning to work. It's going to take a hell of a big gift certificate to me to make this go away. read more
