The street (metered) parking was easy to find when we arrived. Architecture of the ex-Mall was still lovely to see and there was a tour group there talking about the history of the location. We walked to this TJ Maxx from our hotel while visiting Milwaukee. None of us had any specific needs, but we were happy to find some gems at a nice price. We started in the beauty section and I immediately found clearance hair clips/claws that were cute and a great deal. My friends were having a great time looking for items and when one of them decided to try some things on I decided to look a bit harder and found two pairs of jeans- that is not something that normally happens! Not only did the jeans fit great but they were $20 and $24 which in my mind is a great price especially considering they'd be $70-100 regularly. We also browsed the shoes and I happened to find the perfect pair for a wedding I had coming up, so of course I grabbed them. On top of the other finds I also found a small toy for my dog. I ended up with two sets of hair claws/clips, two pairs of jeans, a pair of heels and a dog toy for under $100. While we only interacted with the staff at the register they were also nice and my friends and I all ended up finding a few items here. read more

Didn't know what was in a TJ Maxx when I was looking for the place this morning. I thought it was women's clothing I think. This written about a year or more back. I was resolving all the unfinished drafts this day Having seen commercials on television, had I paid any attention as fully indoctrinated and conditioned American consumer is expected to, I might've known already. But the only conditioning I accept is the Pantene in my hair. But because I am a card carrying owner of a revolutionary devise that allows time shifting, a DVR, I can nearly eliminate the propaganda administered to the masses via the Slave Commerce and Religion Enhancer Device. (SCARED) aka what else? Your television. Now that I managed to somehow find a place for that little smug, amusing (to me) and revealing (to few) tidbit, I shall express my great JOY! T J Maxx has really cool stuff for the wanna be home chefs and all forms of other really neat widgets and the likes. Scored for a very reasonable fee, a Instant Pot duo ($99) with the air fryer lid for significantly less than what I bought myself last summer. This one is going to be my little sisters upcoming birthday gift. Don't tell her, she doesn't read my Yelps, so I know this isn't going to be a spoiler. For myself I scored a large bottle of my favorite Ghost Pepper sauce, I have the grocery store bottle in the cupboard at home, but this is like the COSTCO size, but the same price as the regular stores littler size. And a Viking 8" induction skillet. Less than $20 1/3 list. Happy happy Joy joy. I don't think anyone says that anymore. What ever happened to Ren and Stimpy? Parking... sucks. They do validate, but it's for a discount, not free parking. I'm shopping at TJ Maxx. I don't like paying for parking. The store spills out onto the foyer area and it's kinda cool and makes the space bigger... but that area is a little awkward. Felt a little weird, and navigating the store wasn't the easiest. Store needs more clearance items. Felt a little less stocked than other locations. Overall clean and well organized. Eh. Not sure I want to come back, especially if paying. read more

If you're downtown for the evening and it gets cold you canopy in here quick and grab a nice hoodie for a greta price, and if you're in town for business you can and need a button up or slacks this is most definitely the place for you. You can just about find all you in and each section and great sizes in mostly everything, as for service the few people working are kind and are more then willing to help you with whatever you need. read more

This TJ Maxx is located at the Grand Avenue Shops, viewable from the street. However, the entrance on the street is closed and you will have to enter through the mall. I decided to stop by this store location this afternoon with my husband around 12:30 pm. I liked the way this store's layout was upon entering. Something about the high ceilings and the back of the store with the stairs (focal point) seemed appealing to me. In the main entrance, towards the back of the store is the clearance section where you can find some major deeply discounted items. I was surprised to see some nice holiday greeting cards, graduation cards, father's day cards, etc for $0.50 each. I also saw some cute decor items for a very reasonable price, so it is worth taking a peek in this part of the store. Just like any TJ Maxx, the layout is similar and easy to navigate through. Although I looked through the entire store, I ended up spending most of my time in the pet supply section. My husband forgot to pack my little girl's favorite dog toy (even though he swears that he packed it for her... I suppose next time I will pack it so we do not have to be in this situation) and so I ended up purchasing a similar toy for her. My little girl dog was pretty excited when I gave it to her, so it must have been a good choice. At the register, the employee ringing us up was friendly. She made small talk and then we were on our way. With TJ Maxx, if you are looking for that special buy, you will have to come on multiple visits. New stuff comes in and is stocked and hung all the time. So the more frequent you come, the more likely you will find something that you really want, hopefully at the price you want it at. On this particular visit, I had a good experience. If I lived in this area, I would probably be somewhat of a frequent customer (most likely for my mom because she just adores TJ Maxx. I personally prefer Ross). Please note that a part of the store is currently under construction. But the store itself was clean with no clothes and items on the floor or blocking the aisles. The construction going on was not too noisy and did not create debris in the air. So hopefully that will not deter you from shopping here. read more

Someone can't count. Someone can't work out how many shirts to put in his suitcase for two weeks of work in Milwaukee. That someone would be me and I needed two more business casual because the button down dress shirts were not going to work when its 90 degrees. I popped into TJ Maxx and was stunned at the prices. A lot on the high side and while they do have XXL's (yes, I'm a big boy), there weren't that many and the colors didn't work for me. But from the corner of my eye, I spotted a clearance rack. And there were a few in the desired size that mostly met my color palette requirements. I picked up two shirts, reviewed the price tags and headed to the register. Now where is the register? Good luck finding it, I had to ask for help. And while the line was short, the wait was long. Would I return? Well if you're in Downtown Milwaukee without transportation to Target or Wal-Mart, this is the place! read more

While smaller than your average Maxx location, they utilize the space very efficiently though they don't carry any men's shoes here (which is fine for me, TJ's doesn't normally have my size anyway). Given the sad state of retail in Milwaukee's downtown, this is really the only place left for workers in this area to grab a last minute gift, stocking stuffer, gift bag, or wrapping paper. The clearance here is usually pretty decent as well. Staff is generally pretty friendly as well though name tags seem to be non-existent. read more

Sometimes there are good deals on the home decor, but the selection is very limited, picked over, and underwhelming. Be aware: the parking validation only covers a half an hour. I was there specifically for dog toys, and the section was larger and more varied than I'd seen in many stores, as well as offering reasonable prices on quality toys. My dogs are both pretty tough on their toys, and they're still holding up pretty well. read more

I am a TJMaxx LOVER and this is such a cool location! The architecture of the building is so cool and the utilize the space there so well. the only down side to this location is that parking can be quite difficult after work or on the weekends so you may have to pay and park in the garage which stinks but at least it is directly next to the entrance of the building! read more

It's a TJ Maxx, so I'm always going to find something I want. This one might be in a slightly run-down location, but it's still downtown, so it's easy to combine with other errands or aimless weekend days. I have gone in before looking for a small piece of luggage for a day trip and walked out with sunglasses instead because I didn't find exactly the bag I wanted. The glasses were awesome, though, and they were $10. This TJ Maxx is my go-to spot in particular for winter accessories, (great prices and good quality and selection for hats and gloves) leggings, and, surprisingly, soap and skin care products. And I still scour the regular and clearance racks for deals. I've been accumulating long sweaters (this is Milwaukee) and last week I found a pair of jeans from the Gap for about $16. I can assure you I was originally looking for something else. The store can get a little crowded, and the lines a little long, especially on weekends. And those purchases that seem like such bargains can still add up, so proceed with caution. But this location is solid overall. read more

It's difficult to be one of the only stores operating in the East half of the mall but they're doing great here. The setup can be a bit confusing , especially when locating the checkout; it's hidden within rows of random merchandise. However, that is a minor complaint, and the only gripe that I have. TJ Maxx is dirt cheap with the majority of their goods. Even jewelry and watches. Not everything is a designer or name-brand but that doesn't equal low quality. Clothing, home decor, cosmetics, toys and more can be found at lower prices than WalMart or Target. I'm not sure why I haven't shopped here before! The store itself is in s unique position in the mall and makes for an interesting layout. It is very well lit, clean and quite organized for what I had expected. On this particular day, and I'd hope every day, there were a lot of employees around the store in case I needed one. Parking is super easy to access and much cheaper with validation. I forgot how much I love TJ Maxx and how tempting it is to spend a bunch of money there. I went with a mission to find a queen size duvet cover and left with other items I "really needed". But hey, they have great prices and I found a few things cheaper than I did on Amazon. The layout of the store is designed well and it seems clean & organized. One thing I do find annoying is the parking situation. You can park in the Grand Ave garage but you don't get all of the parking validated even if you spend money. Sure, if you spend $150 you get 3 hours of free parking (gee, thanks) but if you spend less you only get some of that covered ($5 in my case). I'm already plotting my next visit to find great deals on things I don't need. read more

Having lived above this TJs for the past two years, let's just say I'm a frequent customer. It's never too busy, and always has new items. The home section is just okay, but I do a lot of last minute, quick-need buying for home stuff there regardless. Their clothes are hit or miss. I probably miss more often than not, but since I'm in so frequently I do have an occasional hit, like two cool jumpsuits I found the other day. Good prices and a good selection. This TJ Maxx location is extremely convenient to visit on a lunch break if you work downtown in the vicinity of the Grand Avenue Mall. The location is clean and the employees are helpful. From snacks to furniture to clothing, they have it all. The line isn't usually long as they are usually pretty well-staffed, which is nice when you only have 20 minutes to stop in. Their clearance selection is solid as well. I thought since it has been about five years since I reviewed this store, I should provide an update. I'm still a fan. Yes, the mall is much more empty as far as retail than it was five years ago. But I honestly feel that TJ Maxx has probably increased their inventory. I don't make it in as often as I used to, but when I do I always check out the personal care section to see what lotions, perfumes, shampoos and bath goodies they have. There's a decent selection of luggage. The pet section has been expanded and it's easy to find a treat or a toy for your favorite pooch or feline. They also have a lot of reasonably priced phone gadgets: cases, headphones, chargers and speakers. Heck, I've even seen bikes and kayaks there. If you want to live the urban lifestyle on a budget, stalk TJ Maxx and you might be surprised at what you find. Need an upholstered chair for your apartment? They've got those. Side tables? Yep. End tables? Sure. Shoes for the ladies? You betcha. For the gents? Not so much. Pick up some tea and coffee K-Cups (or beans or loose leaf), spices, maple syrup, BBQ sauces, cooking oils and more. Coconut oil? They've got it. Chia seeds? Yep. They have cleaning supplies, mops, dusters, sponges, bedding, towels and pillows. The store is also a good source for holiday decor, wrapping paper and gift bags. They do a nice job with their seasonal displays near the front of the store (alongside the checkout area). TJ Maxx has also started validating parking in the lot, so if you drive down I think you can save a couple bucks on your parking. Or visit after 6 p.m. or on weekends and park for free on the street. A little bird told me that TJ Maxx gets new shipments every Tuesday, so it sounds like a good time to plan a visit. Just don't take all the good stuff before I get there. read more

Maybe that little black dress you've been eying at some big department store? Go to TJ Maxx. Basically, TJ Maxx carries a ton of clothes and a boatload of miscellaneous stuff like kitchen stuff and gardening stuff.It's all at prices lower than you find at the department store, a lot of the prices are considerably lower, like 50% off the retail price or better. My only complaint is that they are more catered to women than men. They have a few aisles of women's shoes, but none for the guys. read more

This location is in a really weird mall - quiet and on the verge of sketch, but worth the visit. Lots of workout gear - tons of bras - a great selection of current seasonal items. Not the best or biggest Tj Maxx in the world, but still a great store. I work only a few blocks away and can't help myself from coming here a few times a month. They have the best housewares- my apartment is filled with stuff from here- and a pretty good shoe section. I haven't bought too many clothes from here, but they do have a lot of good lingerie brands for some cheap bras and undies, and what girl doesn't love a good deal on undies! All in all a great store to find some good deals, I at least never leave empty handed. read more

Oh, TJ Maxx. Am I really posting publicly that I have a secret relationship with you? I'm not sure my boyfriend knows the extent of our relationship, and he would probably be uncomfortable if he knew. ...Because I spend too much money here. Get your mind out of the gutter. Like most TJ Maxx's, this place is an eclectic gathering of seemingly random items at discounted prices. Things about this TJ Maxx in particular that I like include the cooking supplies selection, pots and pans, food items (cooking and snacks) and home supplies. Women's clothing tends to be pretty out there and not really matching all the trends, like this TJ Maxx is having 1980s and 1990s revertigo. The women at the dressing room are usually very nice. When I went yesterday, I had Monica as a cashier and she is the best I have had at this TJ's. Usually the workers are too busy yelling at each other to acknowledge customers, but she greeted me and asked about my day, how I found everything, etc. Overall, this store has made significant improvements in supplies and employees over the past 6 months. Yup, I'm still in love with this TJ Maxx. I discovered it in 2010 (woah!) last time I was in Milwaukee. First, Milwaukee is a cool little city and I love it every time I go. This is always on my "to do" list. It just has a more upscale feel than other locations I have been to and I find a bunch of really nice stuff every time I go...which is...twice now. lol Visited again over the 4th of July weekend, this time with my husband, and we happened to walk by and I was like, "Seriously, I know you are gonna think I'm nuts....we are on vacation. But this is a really good TJ Maxx." He was pleased too. I bought a bunch of fun, bright color work pants and he bought some jeans and t-shirts. Win-win. read more

Since I work across the street from Grand Avenue Mall, it's not hard to accidentally end up in this store. Especially if you're bored. Going to TJ Maxx is like going to a huge rummage sale. You never know what you're going to get, and you really have to work for a true find. The racks are overloaded with clothing to the point where it is overwhelming to know where to start. However, some of the designer labels are separated out on their own racks. The problem with the designer stuff is that is is overpriced. For a store that is supposed to offer you deals, spending $30 or more on a skirt that hung in Boston Store 3 years ago does not seem like a deal to me. On the other hand, the housewares are fun. Digging through the mis-matched stuff left over from who-knows-where makes for some cheap and interesting finds. I love to buy picture frames, wall art, and other knick-knack type stuff here. Sadly, the only good things in GAM are this store and Boston Store. Hopefully this store will stick. read more

I have been to this store about a half dozen times. It always sucks. Which is such a shame because the interior is really cool! I have walked around the store for upwards of an hour and walked out empty handed - which usually never happens in a TJ's! Quite possibly the worst shoe selection for women I have ever seen outside of a WalMart. An extra star for the rare instance in which I actually found something cool - a great Betsy Johnson necklace hidden in the back of a case and marked down to $20. read more

I was at TJ Maxx tonight to return a New Balance active wear zip up I received from Christmas as a gift. I had the gift receipt (dated within 30 days), all original tags on and it was never worn. I found a coat that I wanted to purchase that was of greater value but was willing to pay the difference from the return of the zip up. As I proceeded to checkout I was told that TJ Maxx could not accept my return due to the condition of my zip up. They told me that there were stains on it and that they could not accept this as a return. I would be more than happy to send photographs of the zip up as I cannot disclose them on here. Also, feel free to zoom in as close as possible and I would happy to bring them in again for closer examination. Please explain to me exactly what is wrong with my zip up and why they would not accept this item as it is clearly in good condition!!!!! The associated and coordinator told me to bring the zip up back to where I purchased it (clearly I received this as a gift) which that store is located in Stillwater, MN. This has absolutely been the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I have never ever been denied a return in my life!! read more

I am glad this store is downtown. I am an urban resident and glad to have the fun and eclectic TJ Max selection available to me in my neighborhood! I have found some awesome pink and zebra striped flats, a Tiganello bag that introduced me to the brand and made me a fan for life, some Gucci sandals, a Steve Madden bag that gets me high marks for its practicality and functionality, and other items. I feel stylish without spending a ton of money. I will continue to support the store because I want it to stay until neighborhood. read more

I was met with subpar customer service at this location. I was returning some perfume around noon on 7/14. The eau de toilette did not smell anything like the parfum I have been buying for years. It may have been really old. I did not know that returning it was against policy. The sales associate needed verification from a manager or supervisor who sighed, shook her head, and said ok. I asked if that is against policy and the clerk kindly said yes, if the item is opened. I totally understand but maybe the manager could have said that to me and said "we will do it this one time but you should know that we don't refund opened items". Most retailers have no problem returning opened items so I didn't think twice. Remember to please treat people with kindness. It goes a long way. read more
