I made a lump sum payment on my loan yesterday . I log back into my account today to pay off the remaining balance only to find they have removed the payment option and add over 4 dollars of interest to my balance . I call the office to find out why the payment option had been removed? Of course they had no answer as to why it was removed . So now I have to wait until the payment option is activated again on my account and each day another $4.00 interest will be added to the balance . My elderly mother was scammed by a man online. He needed $3,000 cash to get out of jail. She only had her car to borrow against, so she did. He disappeared after she sent the money. Soon after my mother was hospitalized with dementia. She had no money, on Social Security. We put her in 24/7 care as she could not walk any more. Two family members reached out to Titlemax to purchase her car for the fair reasonable asking price. They have been nothing but SUPER RUDE. We tried to ask them to understand the circumstances. We are not paying $5,000 for a $2500 car. It's like a 2009 Kia 4 door, with 60,000 miles. Seriously, $5,000!!! Some money was better than none. We told them come get the car. They wouldn't come out to the area where the car was to get it. It's been sitting for 2 years in the exact same place. Now, she is dying. We may have an hour, a day. It just makes me so very sad that her little car can't be given to one of her grandchildren. She would want that. Rip Off- I am begging you = do not get a loan from any title loan company. Actually I can only speak for Title Max, but believe they are all the same. You need $1700 but your car is worth $15000 and paid off. They tell you that you are better off borrowing $10000 even if you pay it back the following day. LIE! If you are a day late they will have someone come and tow your car, even when you talked to them and told them why. They tell you they won't take a check or credit card, just cash certified checks or money orders. They won't take a debit card over the phone. I was out of state with a sick parent and did Bill pay having my bank fed ex them title max accepted those checks. However, they did hold the first two for one week, the third for 6 weeks. This allowed them to accrue more interest! Interest is slightly over 108% APR the daily interest rate is over 29%! If you take out a loan for 10k and pay it off in 6 months it will cost you over $5000. Do Not do this! Pay anyone else 30% they can't make that investing now so if you are a good risk, you should be able to borrow the funds. DONT GO TO ANY TITLE MAX! I am not saying the people are bad, but the company makes them do the job and follow horrible rules. read more
