# Amazing Food, Abysmal Service I really wanted to support…read morethis business, especially traveling all the way from New Jersey, but the service here was completely unacceptable. * The Food (5/5): The food itself is genuinely excellent and full of flavor. * The Service (0/5): We waited for over an hour only to find out our food wasn't even ready. To make matters worse, there were zero apologies from the staff and no offer to discount the order for the massive delay. * The Communication: After the long wait, we were casually told, "No more snapper, we ran out." If a customer orders online and an item is sold out, the restaurant needs to manage it properly. They should either call the customer immediately to offer a substitute, suggest an alternative at pickup, or simply update their online ordering platform so sold-out items can't be purchased in the first place. It is incredibly disappointing to experience such a total lack of customer care. As much as I love good Caribbean food, I will not be back.

If you don't like any gamey flavor in your meat, maybe it's not for you. The jerk chicken was delicious - so flavorful, just like the jerk pork, but I did like the jerk pork a bit more. Callaloo was ok, but more potatoes and bread I find vs veggie. I really just wanted a lot of greens. The flavors were good though. Oxtail was consistent like last time and excellent. Overall, another good meal and we're learning what we like here. The whole atmosphere is fun too.

Don't let the ambiance fool you…read more Macaroni Au Gratin is bland with consistency of imitation cheese whiz? I can't put my finger on it but it didn't have a flavor of ANY blend of natural cheeses. I'd know, I'm a cheese connoisseur! Perhaps they use imitation cheese. Simply put, their macaroni au gratin is inauthentic as in no veggies (onions, bell peppers) nor ham or ground beef used either. At least the Diri Djon Djon and Lalo was decent. I've had better Salad Russe. It was either missing onions or salt. The condiment cup of Pikliz is shorter and smaller than the usual 1.5 oz. Most restaurants provide sizes 2 oz and larger and that's how I was able to tell the difference. I never even knew those solo dipping cups came any smaller! Probably so you can ask for more so they can charge extra. Not only do they make sure to cut corners on the Pikliz. Which wasn't even enough to mask their thick, brown, over-fried, DRY and STALE bannann peze that has been sitting out. After they cut the plantains they don't soak in salted water. Bannann peze SHOULD NOT be so thick, should be made-to-order and served hot, fresh, golden and crispy. Just look at their photos and see for yourselves compared to other bannann peze / tostones you've eaten / seen. Then to ask if I need utensils for a to-go order? No ma'am, I'll be using my fingers and eating out of my hands today, thanks for asking. Don't ask, just automatically include utensils in the bag for the astronomic amount you charge for your food. Chain restaurants or even mom & pops all simply include utensils and napkins when preparing to-go orders. Only time to get away with that is when delivering. At which most times customer may decline since they're home / work and may already have those items. Price point - garbage for side of macaroni au gratin I'll let you all be surprised for yourselves on the rest on menu. * If anyone gave this restaurant 5 stars... they're obviously not Haitian and/or their tastebuds are shot.

One thing I always look for when eating at a restaurant that specializes in food from a specific…read morecountry is whether people from that culture are dining there too. At a Thai spot, I expect to see Thai people. At a Mexican spot, I expect to see Mexicans. You get the picture. So at this Haitian restaurant, there are always Haitians enjoying the food -- which tells you everything you need to know. If you're looking for an upscale yet still authentic Haitian restaurant, this is it. No matter what you order, they always start you off with a soup that's hot, rich, and flavorful. I usually begin with the Haitian caviar and smoked fish empanadas, then move on to either the Saveur Creole goat or the red snapper -- always with extra gravy, because I can't resist pouring it over their black rice (don't judge me). It's BYOB, so bring your drink of choice or grab something from the shop right next door. Another thing I love is that the owner, Robert, is usually there. He'll stop by your table, talk with you, and make the meal feel like a real experience. And if you admire the artwork on the walls -- he painted all of it himself. If you go, tell him I sent you... maybe then he'll finally sell me one.
