Came here today 5/16/2023 to get natural looking almond/round shaped gel x nails. I know how to do my own gel x nails but decided to get them done by someone else because I'm lazy and I'm about to go on vacation. Booked with Annette I believe? Not sure who I got as I booked on Instagram & they didn't tell me shit LOL Anyways, the girl I had was not easy to talk to. Sensed a vibe from her and I did not like it. So, I just didn't make conversation. A few things I didn't like: - She cut me a few times with the cuticle cutter/nail drill machine and didn't say anything - I told her the lamp is burning my finger and she said it's "normal" (burning is not normal.. she shaved down my natural nails wayyy too much and caused me to burn under the lamp) - I told her beforehand my nails are crooked & she STILL put the gel x on crooked (she even tried to tell me "I don't know who told you your nails are crooked but they're not") - My nails are pointed upwards rather than straight out like how real nails should look like I'm not a licensed nail technician but I learned how to do my own nails (plus my mom does nails) and this is basic common sense... &Since my moms been through it, I tend to tip big when I get my nails done but I just felt she didn't deserve a big tip. I still tipped her tho, don't get me wrong. Just not as much as I could've due to the service she gave me. Overall, probably not going to come back but if I do I am NOT going back to her. Most likely not tho as first impressions play a big role in choosing a nail salon ‍ *** Edit: Same day but later in the evening. *** So they messaged me on Instagram after reading my review and said they take feedback very seriously. Brownie points imo! They took the time to message me and were very professional and respectful about it. She even asked if I'd want to come in again and I'd be personally taken care of by someone else but I declined as I'm leaving for vacay tomorrow. Overall, amazing hospitality! I used to go to chop shop nail salons for acrylics, but I struggled finding a good salon. I like my nails to look perfect, but all other salons I went to would leave my nails with air bubbles, lint, or just didn't meet my standards when it came to nail art. I pay attention to the details when it comes to my nails. I had a bad experience with my last salon and decided to try somewhere new. I discovered Tips & Toes on Instagram and haven't looked back. I've been going to Annette since August 2022. I did my research on their policies, how to receive a quote, etc. so I was prepared. I had never gotten Gel X but they were helpful in educating me. I was immediately impressed with their customer service. Even though it was my first time meeting Annette & Monique, talking to them was like talking to friends I've known for years. Coincidentally, I had booked my appt at the same time as a friend from high school (who was a regular with them) so it made it easier to break the ice and talk the entire time. Made my appt go by so quickly! Their quality of work is 10/10. Annette takes her time with me and makes sure everything is to my liking. I love that they offer a custom nude base for each customer, and that they mix colors to find the perfect match. The attention to detail was a dealbreaker for me, and Tips & Toes met that standard! When I book an appt with them, I know I am receiving their BEST work and I will be happy with the outcome every time. I see them every 4 weeks now! PS I had broken my toenail on my big toe the other week and Liz repaired it with Gel X, which I had never heard about! Just in time because I wanted to wear open toed heels for Valentine's Day. Found this hidden gem back in 2020 and have been coming every three weeks ever since for my Gel X w/design and Pedicure with 2 Gel X toe nails. Everyone is so detailed oriented and take pride for their work. I've never walked out with an air bubble or a slanted nail. Each nail tech is down to earth and easy to talk to. Annette is like my therapist. Poor woman gets an earful every time I walk in Keep in mind you get what you pay for. Not the cheapest but definitely the best in town. You get the value of what you pay for. I have referred several of my friends and they keep going back. I found Tips and Toes while scrolling through Instagram looking for nail inspo! The girls make things super easy by scheduling ahead of time via IG with the date, nail tech and specific details about the nails you want so there's no confusion and they even provide you with a quote. As a content creator, Gel-X is the best option for me because they're durable and consistent! The nail application, cuticles and art here are hands down the best in OC. I always receive compliments on my frenchies that these girls are known for perfecting. My nails usually last 3 weeks before I schedule another appointment because the retention! I could probably stretch them to 4 weeks but my nails underneath stay so healthy that they grow out and I need a new set. They have Japanese gels and pretty much any color you can dream of for custom nail art. The best part is that Annette and Mo can give you color recommendations to compliment your skin tone or inspo photos. My go-to is usually a nude/pink base mix, hi-smile white frenchie tips with Almond Short length. The vibes here are always good and they always make me feel comfortable whenever I come in the salon. Highlights: Parking is a little limited because it's a small plaza so carpool or get dropped off. If you want specific nail designs make sure you ask for Mo. Service: I've gotten my nails done by Leslie twice now and she's my new go to. She tries real hard to make sure it's pretty and perfectly painted and shaped. For a gel "spa" pedi and a gel regular mani it was $59. Bottom line: The salon itself is super cute and clean. I love how everyone here is super friendly. They usually can seat walk ins but I suggest appointments. It's super easy to do so on Yelp and they even have a Venmo. read more

Make an appointment and be specific. These girls have a schedule and are so good at making sure they have enough time to focus on you and what you want. I get a solid set gel mani with gel removal (no designs) for $35 plus tip. I have gotten gel-x and pedicures before with no complaints. They continuously ask you if you are happy with what they are doing and give you exactly what you ask for. I love this place not only because of the quality of work but also because since they are mainly appointment based you aren't going to get someone who is constantly looking up at the door and rushing through your set to get to the next person. For anyone who says they walk in and there are techs sitting around when they claim to be "busy", have you not heard of a work break? Cancellations? People running late? This is a small shop and they don't have 500 techs to assist people on a whim, which you should be thankful for. Make an appointment and stop complaining. I would never go back to acrylic nails . I had tried gelx before but wasn't happy with it I found tips and toes on instagram and felt in love with their designs . I found them through IG and DM-ed them to schedule an appointment. They were super responsive to all of my questions even though they were on vacation. I appreciate that they tell you the price when you book so you know what to expect as well. Ken did my nails (Gel X, single color, no design, short almond shape filed down). He was awesome! He made sure everything looked how I wanted it to every single step of the way on every single nail. My Gel X extensions lasted me 3+ weeks before I finally broke a nail. That's a week of vacation + two weeks of work. I'm a dental hygienist and I have to work with my hands all day. I was very rough with them and was surprised they lasted me that long. I'm 100% sure they will last everyone else much longer, assuming you follow their care instructions. Let me repeat that. I wish I found out about Gel-X and this salon earlier! They've been in the Gel-X game for a couple years now, and really have the technique and artistry for it and designs! I found Tips & Toes through IG, and I fell in love with the high french tip look they're known for. Booking was through direct messaging (@tipsandtoesoc), though make sure to read their "scheduling" highlights to provide the info they need upfront so they can schedule you quicker. They do ask for a $25 deposit via venmo, but refunds it after your appointment. My high french tip, short almond set was $130 ($60 Gel-X base fee + $70 design fee). I like Gel-X because the nail extension covers your entire nail bed so it's more secure (unlike acrylics which only attach to the top part of your nail), and everything (the adhesive, nail extension, and design coats) are gel-based so not only is it healthier, but it also looks more sleek/thin, looking much like real nails. Annette did my nails, and I found out her and her sister both own the salon! She's super talented and precise, and freehands the french tip. You get to choose what base color you want, so it's customized for your nail/skin color, and Annette was super thorough in explaining the process and aftercare tips. This review is for Liz for a pedicure service on 06/28. Well... I wasn't expecting to have such a negative experience, given that that their instagram promoted really promising work. It could be that I came in for a pedicure instead of gel-x/manicure with their head artists? Anyways, I believe the person that worked on my toes was Liz? Long story short, I came in to try out gel-x on my big toe because a while back I had injured my foot and as a result, one of my big toe is still playing catch up with my other one. Anyways, not sure if it was a bad day for the technician today because she did not seem like she wanted to be there. I don't mind not having a conversation with the technician as they're working, but she did not ask me how I wanted my toes (ex. length, if I wanted it cut, etc.) besides whet color I wanted. So... she proceeds to cut my toe nails, which shouldn't be a big issue if she's evening it out, but basically she cuts all my nails short and when she proceeds to file my nails, she filed one of them too much because it started to sting... After the gel-x application on my big toes, she proceeds to just cut the length and after she cuts it, she asks "does this look okay?" -- well at this point there's no really going back so I just said that it was (right foot). She moves onto the other toe and at this point the left foot's toe nail was slightly longer and I actually liked the look of it so I asked her if we can make the right foot like it -- basically she said no, she can only make the left toe shorter to match the right, which I didn't like or have a say in how long I wanted it... By this point, I'm kinda over it because I genuinely just don't like them and I'm disappointed in the service/quality because again, their instagram work looked really really promising, sigh. On a final note, I'm pretty sure my two big toes are uneven (will post pictures), which is ironic because she told me that I should get gel-x extension on both big toes to make them more aesthetically pleasing/even... yet they're uneven?! I just settled with regular polish instead of gel because I'm just not a fan. At the end, she doesn't even tell me that she's done with the service, just proceeds to mop and goes on her phone? Idk... most places typically help me put on my flip flops if I get regular polish, but no surprises at this point. I literally had to ask her if we were done for her to offer me if I needed help with my flip flops Mind you, my toes are just mid... but with the injury, I just wanted them to end up even? Can't say how their manicures are, but HIGHLY would not recommend pedicures. My total was $40. Not sure how it added up to $40 because I booked an apt for the spa pedicure ($25) and I was quoted that each gel-x extension will be $7 ($14 total for both toes... 25+14 = $39? read more

Is there any way to give Tips & Toes more stars? I was devastated to find out that my nail salon in Buena Park had went out of business this past summer. I was desperately searching for an alternative place, doing my research, when I came across Tips & Toes Instagram page. If you have not checked out their IG, you need to: NOW! They are incredibly active, post quality pictures, are up to date on all the best trends, professional, organized, and SO easy to communicate with. I was blown away by their story posts, informational posts, and detail oriented services. I immediately had to reach out to set my first appointment. Monique (Mo) was my, and is currently, my nail salon artist. She's HANDS DOWN the best of the best. The way she intricately checks each finger and speeds through my sets each time I go, shows her extreme expertise and reliable experience. I LOVE the way she handles my hands and is SO comfortable when doing my nails. You can probably tell in 2 mins or less how great she is. I've been getting my nails done since June and will never go to any other nail salon. I get a compliment on my nails almost every time I go out. I literally have given their business card to an In-n-Out employee because we had a full on conversation at the drive-thru about how she loved my nails. In addition to the amazing appearance, their gel-x extension application is also HANDS DOWN the best quality you will ever get. My nails always last a month, MINIMUM, with no chips, lifts or fade aways. I was so impressed by the quality and have continued to stay impressed. My nails even lasted an entire month while I lifted furniture and boxes while I moved. Finally, the workers and owners are just sweet. My first time here and Monique knocked it out of the park. I'm a bit of a jumper who is trying to find a good salon I can be loyal to, but I was nervous for my first time cause with nail salons, It's not just the tech but also the vibes as well. I'm a pretty awkward person in general but I was honestly observing how focused Monique was. I'm a very low maintenance girl. Recently, I've been venturing out of my comfort zone and trying new things. It all started with at-home gel polished nails for a wedding. Then I went to my first nail salon to get them removed and redone. My biggest issue was the snagging of my hair upon week two. I tried a different nail shop and tried the dip. Unfortunately, I had the same issue two weeks in. OK, third try, regular gel at a new place. Not only did the same problem occur, but my nail also broke the next day. Going back wasn't pleasant (refer to my reviews to see how that went). My friend went to Tips & Toes and tagged them on IG. I checked out the reviews and saw they specialized in Gel X. Ok, but what is that? If you refer to their IG page they've got you covered with full descriptions and videos. So I scheduled with Annette. I got a pedi and a new gel x set. She was very knowledgable and took her time answering any questions I may have had. It took about 2 hours. The other places I went, they would rush through so I appreciated not being rushed on. The shape, thickness and color were even better than anticipated. The length was the longest I've ever gone and I was not very gentle with my nails as they were still new to me. I had a little lifting but any issues I had Annette happily made time for me to come in and fix my nail(s). I just went in for my second set and went a little shorter. I'm loving the length. This is probably going to be my new go-to. I'm hooked and I will continue to come back. This is the fourth nail shop I went to and I won't be going anywhere else. I am very easy going when it comes to what I want. I look for people who care. People who are good at what they do and therefore I trust to make decisions with their professional expertise to see what is suiting per person. When I get my hair cut, I trust the stylist to decide what they think suits me and go for it. I strive to find people who I can trust will make choices for me because I trust their taste. So far, I have not been let down. I trust my nail tech and her eye and opinion on colors and shapes. If you don't trust yours maybe you should reconsider why you're going there. read more

TLDR; amazing lady bosses, wonderful staff, the best service, extremely clean environment! I've been coming here for about a year now and Mo and Annette are the best. They run the salon so well and are so on top of it with their cleanliness. They have the best personalities and they literally remember almost every detail about you even if your previous appointment with them was weeks ago. It really makes you feel like you're hanging out with friends at their salon They are very organized and as soon as you book with them, a confirmation text gets sent out. They also send a text out before your appointment letting each client know about their health and safety procedures. They use a new file and buff pad (idk what they're called lol!) for every client and you can ask to keep it if you'd like. They make sure clients wait in their car until their station is sanitized and ready. When clients come in, they immediately wash their hands prior to checking in. So I'm from New York so you know I'm picky and have HIGH expectations for my nail care and nail health. Tips & Toes is AMAZINGGG. Not only is the Gel-X just as good and healthier than acrylic but the pedicures actually take time and are amazing. It is clean (which is something big for me), quiet, and everyone is efficient and puts a lot of great effort into what they're doing. It is always booked so it's best to schedule an appointment especially for Gel-X weeks in advance. The owners are amazing and Monique is a BEAST with her skills. I have been here for their deluxe pedicure, which was totally worth it. I really like how they actually scrub your feet well compared to other places I have been to. The lady that worked on my toes was a little rough on them while cutting my cuticles, but aside from that I really enjoyed the pedi experience here. A few weeks after, I came back here for a full set. I usually just get gel polish, but decided to try the whole full set with gel and see how much longer that would last on my nails. It was a great experience. I believe Hannah was the one that did my manicure and she was very friendly and careful, which I loved. OVERDUE 5-STAR REVIEW FOR MY FAVORITE GO-TO NAIL SALON IN ORANGE COUNTY! First of all, I am truly happy that Tips & Toes are now under new management because the old management did not seem to care about their clients at all. I've been going to Tips & Toes for a couple of months now, and I've always walked out super happy with the customer service and my cute nails. I used to do acrylics and dip powder, but I was introduced to Gel-X by Monique. After my first set of Gel-X I fell in love, and I don't think I can go back to doing the other types of nails. The only downside to Gel-X is that there are no fills, but it has helped make me grow out my nails stronger and healthier.I like my nails very simple, but with a little bit of designs. Monique was always able to draw out the themes I wanted my nails to be. They have such cute colors and a lot of ideas for nail art. This nail salon is super clean, and all the staff are friendly. Super artsy & modern shop in Orange County! I tried out Gel X nails for the first time. They are fake nails made out of gel. The nail techs told us it is the "new" acrylics. These won't harm your nails like acrylics!! A full set is $55 and $10 extra for designs. I absolutely fell in love with the results. They feel as light as a feather. You can ask for thick or thin, your preference. Gel x lasts about 2.5-3 weeks? Depending on how well you take care of them. I really like gel x but it is on the pricier side... I recommend Monique, she did a great job. I could probably see myself going here for special occasions! read more

I love Mo & Annette's work! They respond quickly and are upfront with prices based on the design and length of nails you want. It's so nice to send them the design I want in advance because they are realistic with what they can and can't execute. I drive over an hour and a half just to have my nails done by these nail pros and will never go back to franchise chain nail salons ever again. Some tips: Their schedules book up quick so book as far in advance as you can. The parking lot is small so give yourself extra time to find parking ahead of your appointment They currently only take cash (but hopefully they'll start taking card again!) read more

Love love love this place! I've been coming here for a while and I usually get my nails done by Monique, but all the other ladies here do amazing work as well. They're always so nice and welcoming when I come in and always mention if they have something new to try. Recently I've been getting they're Gel-X and I'm addicted! They're worth the amount you pay for how long they last. The picture attached are a picture of my second set of Gel-X, but the first set I had was all which with a chrome finish and it lasted me about 5 weeks with no breaks, lift, or loss of polish! For sure going to by my go to nail place for a long time! They're very accommodating to walk ins, but it's best to make an appointment if you want a specific nail artist. read more

Came here last Friday for a basic gel mani. Immediately the nail tech who would be working on my nails took my temperature and once I was cleared was asked to wash my hands. As a customer, I appreciate everything they are doing to keep us and themselves safe. But back to my nails, the nail tech I got was Ken. He did a good job on my nails. They were a bit bumpy BUT for some reason every time I get white nails, they always turn out bumpy (who knows ) thats is why I am not holding it against him. He took his time and did a great job at filing them and with the gel application. I would definitely be back. read more

I'm not normally one for long nails (which is why the photo looks like a Juneshine ad not a nail post since I forgot to take a photo of my nails) but Monique assured me the gel X would be long-lasting and be able to hold up to my lifestyle. I'm unusually hard on my hands and was a bit concerned but trusted her and went with the medium Gel X. I've been here 3 times before this and always end up loving my nails so it wasn't really a risk. Sure enough I absolutely loved by Gel x nails and got so many compliments on them. They held up really well and when I finally took them off my real nail underneath wasn't destroyed like they usually are after acrylics.
