For 30 years I've had a design in mind and I finally decided to do something about it. I know…read morepeople go to great lengths to find a perfect artist and aside from finding a local shop with good reviews, I dove right in to Hunter Gatherer. Communicating through their site, I received a response quickly. They paired me with an artist and I quickly reviewed his work online. I knew quickly that my somewhat simple design (Picasso's Don Quixote), and all black coloring would probably be simple for Mike. Turns out, it was! I could have left a deposit and gone for a consultation first, but decided to just roll in and get it done. I'm an anxious guy and am older, so hanging at the tat shop isn't my norm! The front desk person was so kind and clearly loves their job. They paired me with an artist who went to art school, was a little older (sorry Mike!) and took the assignment to heart. He worked on me for about 2.5 hours and I still am surprised at how inexpensive the final product cost. Mike clearly explained aftercare and made sure I knew what to do and avoid. He also made sure to let me know that 54 year old skin heals differently than 20! A solid month later and I couldn't be more pleased with my tattoo. My other calve is itching for ink, and I'm excited to know where and who to go to. Disclaimer: I don't know shit about tattoos, but I love what Hunter Gatherer and Mike did for me.

He was super personable, helped my son relax and made sure he was getting what he wanted. I went back 2 weeks later for a small tattoo for myself and then within months, was collaborating with Mike on a half sleeve incorporate a cover-up. I gave Mike reference photos of the 2 dragons I wanted, some high-level ideas and a deposit and he turned that into a beautiful piece. We had sessions every two weeks for 3 months and I can confidently say he is consistently friendly, chill, cares about his clients' comfort, has little ego and really wants people to love their ink. Following his advice was never a mistake, he's an artist you can trust. I'm already planning my next big piece. Beyond Mike, the shop itself is great. All of the staff is welcoming and willing to work with you to make sure you get. It's clean and has a good vibe all around.

I loved the use of color and the elegance! I will return. The vibe of the establishment was normal, it was not fully crowded, though it's on the 69th strip it wasn't sketchy. I'm grateful and when I'll ask the same guy who did my cover up. Prices were good, it's been 8 years so I'm sure things are higher. But It was clean an the quality so worth it!!!
