Maddie was fantastic. Gentle, kind, exceptionally talented. We got along really well, and I'm so glad I was able to have her work on this personally meaningful body art. There were a couple spots that hurt especially bad (remaining areola tissue), so we used a lidocaine spray to help numb the areas a bit. I felt totally justified and also much more comfortable. And the fellow artist who was in that day in January ordered all of us sushi from a local spot. (Unknown, but good.) Bonus: free parking across the tracks. read more

This is a nice shop. I'm 7 tattoos in by all sorts of artists, and Ronak is bout that work. YOU NEED AN APPOINTMENT THIS GUY IS BUSY! As are ALL the other artists in that shop. Simply call ahead, and let the magic happen. These guys are hard working and reliability priced. Parking is 25¢ for 45 minutes, and the trolley drops you off across the street.... My daughter was interested in signing up with this school. In October 2023, we sent a refundable deposit. The very next day after more consideration we decided it was not a good time and canceled. We were told we would receive a refund check in about 14 days. We never received the check. I have called several times speaking to Josy who said she has reached out to the finance team and their notes said they mailed a check but I still haven't received it. Josy provided me with another phone number which I left several messages and they have not returned my calls. I sent an email in Dec and the reply said they would refund the money to the original form of payment however that still has not happened. The communication with the finance team and getting this resolved has been a horrible experience. Why is it so hard to refund money that was stated in the contract as refundable. read more

I initially heard about Body Art & Soul through one of my piercing-obsessed friends. One of the artists at the shop, Kash, was offering free apprenticeship piercings and I've been wanting to get more piercings for a while now. I messaged her and she gave me her availabilities! I ended up getting a lobe piercing and a helix piercing and I am in love with both! Kash was super sweet and patient, let me look at the markings before piercing, and let me change the placement until I was satisfied. She was also super informative. She told me when to breathe in, when to breathe out, how long it would take to heal, how to properly clean it, and gave me all her info in case I had any issues! read more

She was patient with my questions and diligently worked to get the tattoo at the exact size and placement that I wanted. If I could give this place one star I could. I could go over every single detail, but the end result is that this tattoo parlor left my tattoo unfinished on purpose. My first artist just ghosted me and then none of the other artists wanted to finish the piece. A piece that was SUPPOSED to cover up some self harm scars, but of course my artist Mila never got that far. I am so unbelievably angry and sad. This was the WORST tattoo experience of my life. Do not go there, do not get tattoos from Mila especially. Ruby was supposed to be my backup artist but she barely communicated with me before deciding to walk away. Absolutely awful and unprofessional and inconsiderate and uuuggghhh. I really got screwed over by this place. Just go somewhere else. read more

I spoke to an artist about designing a memorial tattoo. He sketched something up and we set an appointment for the following week. The night before he text me saying the owner cancelled my appointment because they were running a class. I had already prepared childcare but I agreed to reschedule. We set a second appointment and again the night before he text me and cancelled my appointment. He did not reschedule this time and I didn't hear from him again for almost a week. I had to pay childcare cancelation fees and never got my tattoo! Horrible customer service! read more

OK, seriously: Don't even bother with Philly tattoo shops: Get yourself out to Upper Darby to this awesome shop for your body art! This is admittedly a smallish shop, but it is truly artisanal and the artists are carefully and lovingly trained here. Note that this location is also a body art SCHOOL, and so they pay extra special attention to issues of hygiene, client comfort, and custom designs. It's also a very diverse shop, with a nice balance of ethnicities and male-female artists. I've had 4 tattoos done by a young woman named Amelia; just a fantastic talent! I get compliments on my ink, like, everywhere -- not that that's all that important to me, but it's nice to know! I'm gonna get another piece by Ronak, whose work with floral designs just blows my mind. Love the vibe here, love the people. You will NOT be disappointed!!!! read more

I've been in the shop multiple times and it's a nice experience each time! The staff are all very kind and welcoming, and they know what they're talking about when it comes to sanitation. Always clean there. The shop itself is a little small but still plenty of space to get a tattoo/piercing and have privacy for it. The artwork comes out impeccable each and every time because this shop is also a school for training upcoming artists instead of making them take the usually unhelpful, waste of a time, traditional apprentice route. The lead staff do not let any students become certified until they are beyond perfect! No exceptions, so feel safe coming here :) read more
