Short version, awesome experience! I was finally ready for my first tattoo and contacted Weylin at EPT after checking out his Instagram and really liking the pieces he did for my partner. To start, Weylin is a nice dude and talking with him prior to the appointment was a breeze. When I got there for my slot, he was finishing up another appointment but took time to share the drawings/options with me so I had time to make sure everything was perfect. The session went quickly and couldn't be happier with my first tattoo! The shop itself is clean and everyone working there was nice so I highly recommend going there. Three of us walked in off the street, we all wanted the same tattoo, there were people in front of us, so we got on the list and had to wait, but it was worth it. We wound up getting Bruno, he's relatively new, but we have been to Eastern Pass before and know Scott (the owner), so we weren't worried. Bruno was accommodating and patient, he came up with a nice design and the quality of his tattooing was excellent! The tattoos we wanted were type, so one pass solid lines are extremely important - and he nailed it. We are very satisfied and would absolutely recommend the shop. I absolutely love this tattoo shop; I'll never go anywhere else. It's clean, the owner & all the artists are super friendly & genuine, and the location on E Passyunk Avenue is perfect. My artist, Justin Dunwoody, is the best; he's a master of Japanese style tattooing and the work he's done on my koi & flowers sleeve is unbelievable, and could only be done by a true artist. Amazing! Went in to get an existing tattoo re-colored. The shop is bright, clean and the artists are friendly and professional. Marco gave me options for my existing tat, either to re-outline/color the entire thing or just re-color. I chose to re-do the entire piece and now it looks super fresh and even better than when I first got it done 8 years ago. For healing, they put an adhesive thing (not saran wrap) on your tat that you leave on for a few days. I was amazed that when I took it off, my tattoo was pretty much healed. It was way better than constantly applying lotion, etc. and worrying about keeping my tat clean during those first few crucial days. I'll definitely be back - these guys are legit. read more

I emailed the shop about making an appointment and Scott got back to me promptly saying for the small piece that I wanted, I could just come in early on a Saturday. I went right for 12 when they opened and they took me immediately. This was my first tattoo and even thought I knew I wanted it for years, I was of course still a bit nervous. My artist was Weylin and he was seriously great. Made me feel comfortable, but wasn't over the top and didn't make me feel like I should be any more nervous than I was. We chatted while he was doing my tattoo and he laughed at my nervous jokes and after just 10-15 minutes it was over and he welcomed me to the "other side." Not painless of course, but super easy :) The shop is really awesome. Clean, bright, great inspiration on the walls...which is good because I'm already scheming my next piece. My girlfriend and I both got tattoo's last week. We called in advance and we're told by Marco to come as he only had one client before us. When we got there, about 15 minutes later, we both signed in and Marco ignored us. After waiting over 3 hours the owner Scott came in and straightened everything out. Scott did my tattoo and a young lady named Stacy did my friend. My friend only wanted a name. Well it was crooked and the block letters were spaced uneven. She said she had 10 years experience but from the looks of the mess she made I would tend not to believe that. Scott did a great job. I would never, ever recommend this place to anyone. Very poor customer service and not all the "artists" are good. The one star is for Scott! read more

Loved my experience here! A very cool, low-pressure no-ego shop with fantastically friendly and talented artists. It's a beautiful, sunny shop with lots of space and great artwork displayed everywhere. My best friend and I came in together and are incredibly happy with Justin's work and how awesome (and quick!) he was through the whole process. We both had concepts of what we wanted but needing some design work/suggestions and Justin was great at bringing our ideas to life in a beautiful way. 5 stars stands for Woohoo As good as it gets! I give Eastern Pass six stars for being Better Than The Best! I was literally at the shop just an hour ago with my hubby. He was getting his first tattoo, two letters in Japanese kanji. Two simple letters but it means so incredibly much to us and our story. We got there right on the dot at 12PM because we were extremely excited to get this tattoo done (and extremely nervous.) We wanted to be there right when it opened! Our tattoo artist was Marco - he was also the front desk when we walked in. The real six star reviews truly begin after the initial greeting though. My hubby has a fear of needles and I had no idea how severe that fear was. But he actually fainted during the first five minutes. It was TERRIFYING! I had no idea that would happen - neither of us expected it. But what happened next was absolute A++ professionalism. The owner Scott and another tattoo artist Justin were both there. And everyone all helped my husband sit down and come back from his blackout in just a minute or two. We didn't know but apparently it can happen often to people when they are super nervous and all their adrenaline just bunches up. It makes sense! It's terrifying but it does happen quite more often than people talk about. But the way they handled holding my husband upright and seating him down, the way they knew exactly what to do because of their years of experience in dealing with first timers anxiety was so so kind. I never felt from anyone there any judgement or bad feelings about the situation. They were just sweet and caring! And I loved how incredibly down to earth Scott seemed. He was calm and kind! I would absolutely come back to have my own first tattoo from him too just basing off how kind they were. Marco ran out to get some OJ and get some sugar in my hubby to help his blood sugar levels. (thank you again!) And Marco was just professional and kind the whole time! He was reassuring, but professional and he seemed genuinely kind. Loved this experience and loved these guys! Justin the other tattoo artist in the room also genuinely showed interest in the meaning of my husbands tattoo at the end. Thank you for asking Justin! Anywhoos, all in all. Unfortunately, we have to give this one star...in order to write a review this is a requirement. My wife and I made an appointment with Marco in June for August 31st . We wanted to get matching tattoos. When we arrived he was taking a client, possibly a walk in? He said the tattoo would take him 15 mins. We we're still waiting at 1:30. When he approached us he told us he would be right back with our design. However, we saw him working on his iPad for an additional 5 minutes. When he finally came back with the print out it was the wrong design, and didn't include the style, or details we provided to him in our walk in apt. It was a completely different design, which I believe he googled as we waited. I personally took a half day and my wife took the day off to be tattooed. He said he didn't have the information we discussed with in detail in June in his notes. It was extremely unprofessional and we lost our $200 deposit. Not once did he apologize for his unprofessional behavior, he stated he has a lot of clients...I definitely don't recommend this shop. read more

I came in on Saturday before a concert to get a tattoo with my friend and they were able to accommodate me pretty quickly. I hadn't gotten a tattoo in about 8 years so I was a little nervous. Justin was my artist and did an excellent job easing into the tattoo and talking to me throughout. The shop was clean and everyone was friendly. I am a t-shirt collector so I was happy to see a case in the waiting area. Shirts were $10 if you got a tattoo and I'm SUPER bummed that I stained mine before I even wore it. That was the only downside to the whole experience. I guess I will just have to stop in the next time I'm in town. read more

Highly recommend this tattoo shop and the owner/tattoo artist Scott. My friend and I walked into Eastern Pass to get small text tattoos, unsure if they could even take us or if we'd get ridiculed for our tattoo choice ("too legit to quit" ;)), but we met Scott right as we walked in and he immediately eased any concerns we had. Came in on a rainy cold day hoping to not have to wait too long- had an appointment at Massage Philly up the street. Walked up and was not greeting by the young man at the desk, instead he just stared at us as if we didn't belong. I gave an awkward "hello" and explained to him what I would like and asked to see script because I hadn't decided yet which I wanted. He started his response with "well no, what we do is...." contrary to what he may be used to - I get to determine what is put on my body for the rest of my life, not a stranger working the desk at a shop. Additionally the amount he quoted me..without knowing what the tattoo would even be completely.... an amount I wasn't satisfied with. Can't help but to think if I wasn't brown...or a woman I would have gotten a better reception. read more

I visited Eastern Pass Tattoo a few weeks ago, and even tho I was in their chair for only a few hours my experience will last a lifetime. From the moment you walk through the door, you've entered not only into a cool thrift shop nestled in a nice neighborhood, but you're only a few stairs away from walking into what feels like a gallery surrounded by working artists. I'm in the lifelong process of getting 50 tattoos from 50 different states on my two sleeves. I do as much research about the tattoo artists and shops in the area I'm visiting, to ensure that I'm getting the very best. I made many phone calls to the local shops in Philadelphia, and Scott was very helpful setting up a time that worked for our little vacation. He was the first one to welcome my two kids, girlfriend, and I into the shop. He would ultimately put a long awaited, long overdue tribute tattoo on my girlfriends shoulder that came out beautifully. I was so fortunate to have Weylin Traugott as my artist. He took ideas of mine that I had emailed into the shop and worked on them before we ever met.
