Brought my son here this weekend for a much needed trim. I heard about this salon on Yelp and Instagram and even though it was all the way in Midlothian (I live in the West End), I thought it was worth a try. We had a 6:15 appointment and had to wait about 15 minutes to be served. In the meantime, I loved how clean, bright, airy, and professional the salon was! It looked like they'd just had a birthday party which would have been a dream of mine as a little girl! They had a nail bar set up, balloons, and a unicorn photo booth backdrop. Too cute! Additionally, they have a few products for sale, a really sweet seating area for the children with books and a chalkboard, and Amazon Fires that are charged and ready to go for the littles while they wait. Bria was our stylist and she was extremely nice and professional. I really enjoyed the way she interacted with my son and talking to her was easy peasy. She gave him a nice trim which took about 15 minutes. I was able to sit in the chair with him and he sat there nicely while on my phone. The only reason for docking the star was the wait. I understand that this is common at salons, but with a toddler it's not easy to entertain them. I was really hoping that our appointment would start on time. The website says that a boys haircut starts at $15. I thought that since we were only getting a trim with scissors and his hair isn't super long, we would be on the low end of that starting point. When we got to the register, the price was $25 which I thought was super steep for a 2 year old's trim. I love love love that they also do adult hair. How convenient is that for folks with older kids to get you and your daughter or son's hair done at the same time? I loved the styles that I saw coming out of the other stylists. They were doing some amazing looking natural braided styles on the little girls and there was a young man getting braids as well. I would say that this is where they shine. I'm thinking about making an appointment for myself to get some knotless braids in the future, and after I have my daughter this spring I can definitely see us having mother/daughter dates here in the next couple of year.

We had an amazing 5th birthday party for my daughter and niece at Tiny Textures! All we had to do was bring cake and food - everything else was done for us. They provided decorations, plates/utensils/cups, robes for each of the girls to wear and even sparkling juice to toast the birthday girls. Rainah and Elle were amazing - they were so patient with the girls, even when they picked all different colors for each nail. Regina, who is the owner, was also great to work with. She was flexible with us when we had to adjust the date and was also accommodating when we had an unexpected extra guest. All the girls left saying they had so much fun. Highly recommend if you're looking for a special birthday party for your daughter!

This place is a jewel. I brought my daughter here from a friend's recommendation and I was so impressed by the shop and the staff. The shop has a tablet at each chair for kids to watch shows and play games while their hair is styled. My daughter loved that! And staff that knows how to work with kids. My daughter normally cries when getting her hair braided but she loved her experience here. She really enjoyed picking out a bow at the end of her service. We will be back again and again.

Very disappointed after being a customer for over 10 years…read more I've been coming to this salon for a long time and the older stylists used to do an excellent job. Unfortunately, since many of them have left, the quality has gone downhill and the service has become very inconsistent. My daughter and I recently came in together and tried a new stylist (blonde hair with red lipstick). My daughter had seen her do someone else's hair and thought she looked good, so we decided to give her a try. That ended up being a mistake. Within a few days, both of our hair started breaking. I have breakage in the back of my hair, and my daughter has breakage at the top of hers -- and we have completely different hair textures. Our hair felt dry and damaged only days after the visit. Another issue is that they charge extra for conditioner but sometimes forget to actually use it. That alone is frustrating because conditioner is basic hair care, especially when high heat is being used. At this point you almost feel like you have to bring your own products just to make sure your hair is protected, which shouldn't be necessary when you're paying for a salon service. Communication can also be difficult. Many times when customers try to explain what they want, staff act like they don't understand basic English, which makes it hard to make sure your hair is being handled properly. When you're trusting someone with your hair, clear communication is important. The customer service from the owner hasn't been great either. She often acts like she doesn't recognize long-time customers and can come across as dismissive instead of welcoming. After more than a decade of supporting this business, it's disappointing to see how much things have changed. Consistency, hair care, and basic customer service should be priorities in any salon. Unfortunately this experience left both me and my daughter dealing with hair breakage, which is not something anyone wants after paying for a professional service.

Had a crisis missed my appt and had to go to Richmond on Monday for an important work function on Tuesday morning. It's Monday at 4pm and I'm looking A MESS like a half matted alpaca who just fought a wildebeest. It's bad. I do a Google search to see who might be able to fit me in last minute. Find Mayra2000 and decide to give it a try. I walk in a little after 4pm and ask if I can get a wash, deep conditioner, and set. The stylists speak Spanish but they speak English enough that communication is generally fine. I was in and out in an hour and a half. Maybe a little less. I'm tender headed and didn't have to get dramatic (the woman was surprisingly gentle). I was both impressed and relieved about the amount of heat protectant that was used during the process. I asked for curls on the ends and it was curled towards my face while I prefer it to be curled away from my face. I didn't specify before she started so I can't fault her. I wasn't initially sure I liked how tight the curls were done with the flat iron but I'm writing this review 5 days later and the curls continue to loosen beautifully and my hair is still soft, straight, and full of body which is important to me. They charged me $70 which was slightly more than I was expecting based on the service price list BUT the price was within the range that I typically pay for a hair appointment and I didn't specifically ask the price before we started because I was in hair crisis mode .

My hair looks and feels AMAZING and I will absolutely be returning for more future blowouts. Thanks Sonya! I've only got two "bad" things to say, which aren't even that bad and definitely not deal breakers at all. Cons (IMO): 1. As it is a holiday today, I did expect it to be crowded but with only two workers it made the wait even longer. Not sure what the staff is like but knowing most people were off work & school was out, I believe there should have been more people on the clock. 2. I personally like to see what's going on when someone is doing my hair however the whole time I was turned away from the mirror which I didn't enjoy.
