My daughter ( 5 yr. old) took a ballet camp here over the summer and we LOVED it! She had a great time and learned a lot in one week. There were costumes, crafts, and stories that she talked about for weeks. The only reason we didn't start lessons there was the distance from our house & new baby we just had. So I don't have any experience with weekly classes, but I'm sure they'd be excellent, too! I would definitely highly recommend this dance studio! read more

We held my daughter's third birthday party here and it was pretty much a complete dream. Tiny Dancers gives you along list of birthday options (we naturally chose Frozen) and they theme the little "performance" around that theme. The teachers did such a good job of getting all the kids involved, so all the parents enjoyed themselves in the waiting area watching their children on the screen (and actually getting to talk among themselves). The only thing you're responsible for are the cupcakes, so you don't have to worry about any clean up. And (!) they sent all the kids home with little tutus. I enrolled my 2 1/2 yr old in Dec. I think the class is fun and engaging for the kids age. It has helped her focus and learn to listen to the instructor. I think it's great Tiny Dancers is available and offering classes for young ages to start the process of the love for dance. Our instructor has been great with being patient with the kids and trying to engage them if they have lost focus. I love that they read a story at the end of each session and allow the kids to dress up and dance. They allow parents to take pictures and dance with their kid. read more

Tiny Dancers is an exceptional studio. Both of my daughters attend ballet class at the Alexandria location (3 and 5 years old). I am quite pleased with the quality of dance instruction, the facility, and the overall tone of the franchise. I have found the instructors to be supportive, engaging and friendly. I believe Tiny Dancers has achieved a commendable balance between providing age-appropriate dance technique and a positive, fun learning environment. The instructors are genuinely interested in their dancers, and their interactions consistently demonstrate the desire to help each child grow. We recently booked a large birthday party at the studio, and from start to finish, the festivities were flawless. From providing handmade tutus, delicate tiaras and neat goodies for each party guest to take home, to organizing fun games and dynamic dance instruction, overseeing a creative craft, reading a hand-selected story, and offering the opportunity to dress up and play, Tiny Dancers delivered! My daughter and her friends made some great memories together, and I was thrilled. The studio manager Jessica, and another fantastic employee Josie, treated each guest and parent with professionalism, grace and a warm smile. Our daughter LOVES Tiny Dancers. We have been going to classes for 2 years, and she looks forward to it every single time. We started at the Fairfax Studio, and then moved to the new studio in Old Town since it is closer to our home. I love that they incorporate creative movement and dance while reading a story at each class. Each student gets to wear a costume that relates to the book. They offer camps and classes in the Summer that are great, too. The owner, Donna, is very involved and really cares about the students. I am amazed at how well they organize the annual recital, making it very easy on the parents. I tried two other studios (which we did not like) and did a lot of research on tuition prices in the area. Tiny Dancers is definitely the best value. I like that the recital costume is included in the tuition so I don't have to remember to write checks throughout the year. read more

My seven year old asked me to find a cool dance place for him to take classes. I happened upon tiny dancers, which looks like, and is, primarily a dance studio for tiny burgeoning ballerinas. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find that their hip hop class is fantastic! The teacher, Meghan, is fantastic with kids, really fun, and an excellent dance instructor. My little one breaks out in crazy moves and he's only had three classes. The studio is in a great location as well, right down the street from Faccia Luna. While he's bustin' a move I wander over to Faccia Luna for a drink, and then over to Balducci's for some great shopping and back to the studio to see my son calmly stretching for a nice cool down, post hip hop. The class is on Monday night from 5-6pm and is so much fun it has turned our Mondays into a day we look forward to! The cost is 90$ a month and worth every penny to see my son start to move comfortably and confidently and enjoy himself so much. read more

I enrolled my 3 year old here to learn ballet, however I am not happy. First of all, their waiting room is EXTREMELY small and with people standing it os very hard for to see my daughter on the monitor (parents are not allowed in the studio while class is in session, which I like) Also, they use too much non-classical music, which I do not appreciate. Ballet is an art form, and classical music is an essential part of it. I want my daughter to understand that and be familiar with classical music as a part of ballet, especially if she decided to continue to dance later in life. Also, they do too much playing around and waste a lot of time doing silly things. The class is not cheap, the time should be used more effectively to learn ballet. I understand that 3 years old need to have fun to learn better, but ballet is not a fun party, it requires discipline and focus, which should be instilled from an early age. I wish they were teaching just a little bit more if that! I read more

My daughter and I have been doing the wiggletoes/mommy and me program for a couple months now. I am SO HAPPY with this program. It is so great how they incorporate a book into each class and let the kids dress up. My daughter is 3.5 years old and she loves it so much. We have a great time with Ms. Jessica every week! I enrolled my 2.5 year old here to learn classical ballet. I read good review about the place and specifically about wiggle-toe classes. First of all, the facility is very disappointing. The waiting room is small, small, small and uncomfortable with a nasty carpet. No place either to leave changing clothes in safe & secure environment. Whoever is there can take your bag. Second of all, not once we had classical music. half of the class is about reading a book (which we do at home and at pre-K) and dressing up like the character of the book. Since we are almost 8 kids, each time there is an exercise, we have to wait for each of them to do it, so there is a lot of dead time, and my toddler loses her focus. Last but not least, the volume of the music is always very high which does not help with the room being so very small - the epitome of minuscule. So in conclusion, instead of having a graceful, classical introduction to ballet, it is pretty much blasting music and parents trying to occupy their kid until their turn come! Will i recommend it? No. But again, i was trained in Europe at a classical ballet school. Did i expect more? Yes, absolutely! Those who rave about this studio are not really looking for classical ballet. So disappointed. I will still go as i paid for a full semester, but i can not wait to be done. read more

Our 7 yr old has been with Tiny Dancers for four years, and our 4 year old for two years! I have always been impressed by the level of professionalism of the instructors and their ability to unite a class of varying levels of skill. This is a place where they teach not only dance but the love of it. It's not always about getting a routine perfect, but to do your best - the end of year recital is an event not to be missed. All the costumes and routines are simply wonderful. How they ever got a class of three year olds to successfully perform their piece, is a mystery!! It is a ideal outlet for our girls who may never be a ballerina, but certainly get to experience the love of dance and to perform in a recital after several months of hard work, and commitment. It's a great message as well. They also offer summer classes and vacation week programs. We have had several different teachers, and they are all cream of the crop. Thank you TIny Dancers!! Last weekend (jan 16th.17th) I called the studio to find out if they sold dance clothes to people that do not belong to the studio, I was in search of a full outfit for my 2 year old and this is closest place. I spoke to a very nice woman on the phone who told me to come in any time they are open and they would be happy to help me find the right size and outfit for my daughter. I told her I would be in on Sunday morning. I got there at 11:15 and was greeted by a terribly rude and unprofessional woman at the desk. When I told her I was there to buy dance clothes she looked at me like I had no business there. She said she would not open the door to get the shoes from the dance room until the current class was over, so I would have to wait until 11:45, I told her that the woman I spoke to said to come by any time, she rolled her eyes at me and said she was not going to disturb the current class. I can appreciate that and understand why you wouldn't want to interrupt the class however there was a little girl that left class twice to come talk to her parents in the waiting area and left the door open both times and this woman still refused to reach in and grab the shoes that were literally hanging on the back of the door. Not only was she rude and dismissive and had no interest in helping me determine sizes and selections (this is my first time buying dance clothes and I really had no idea about sizes and fit and options) she never once talked to me about dance classes at their studio or asked where I had signed my daughter up. I always wanted to take my daughter to tiny dancers since we have lived close to this studio and it always was so adorable to me however after this encounter I have no interest in ever doing business with this company again. I would have probably even signed her up for additional classes at this studio since her current program is during school hours so I am not able to be there with her however this woman never engaged me on this conversation or showed any interest in my business. It killed me to have to give them SEVENTY bucks for this dance outfit but I needed the clothes for that week and didn't have time to go anywhere else. I have never left a yelp review before but was so disappointed by this encounter I want others to know what they are getting themselves into and for management to see what kind of people they have hired. I have never felt more uncomfortable and disrespected in a business. Really sad since I would have loved to use this studio for my children. read more
