The owner Ms Sally has been very good about letting us into Cecchetti so that we could enhance our ballet studies. Now my daughter wants to do both ballet and Cecchetti here! I also appreciate the lower cost structure of Just Dance classes. This is a studio for committed dancers with a supportive but skilled group of ballet dancers.

Most importantly, Sally teaches the girls how to be strong inside and out and builds their self-confidence. She is their mentor as well as their dance teacher. Another important thing about Ms. Sally is the quality of her ballet instruction - she gives proper corrections frequently to all of the students (in a non-criticizing way), and the kids love the personal attention. The advanced classes are just right for challenging the serious dancers. Sally also teaches the Cecchetti method, which helped our daughter's dance ability grow by leaps and bounds. The training our kids get is extremely valuable. Several of Sally's students have successfully auditioned for programs at ABT, Joffrey, and TWSB, and have won scholarships from DanceMasters of VA. Our daughter also takes tap and jazz and loves every minute of it. The students and parents at the studio are very friendly, too. Sally puts on the best dance recital in the area each year (professionally executed) and the joy the kids have when they perform makes the parents burst with pride! Sally and Samantha really help the kids understand that dance is an art form meant to entertain an audience. I'd also have to say the music during dance classes is terrific (I love the Cecchetti music!) and they have a cool rock-n-ballet cd.

This area has to be the best town center type spot in the whole DC metro area now. Tons of brunchers and people out with their kids, a farmers market on Sunday, just a great place to eat and shop. Not really even any problem with parking no with the huge garages. The Tiny Dancer studio itself is not all that big but makes great use of their space. There is a waiting room with two big screens where you can watch your kids dance without interfering or taking up space. They have toys if you have smaller kids and plenty of chairs. The dancing area is nice and the teachers were all very friendly and good with all ages. Plenty of options for the littlest ones to stay involved as well as more advanced moves. They offer summer classes and camps and other options that are pricey but also for several hours a few days a week so could act as a preschool or daycare of sorts even.

As a former dancer, I sincerely appreciate this studio, the teachers, and the entire dance philosophy. As very young dancers, students learn the love of dance and movement and dance through play. As they get older, play is reduced and more technique is brought in. That is not to say the older kids don't have any fun, though. Through Ballet 2, students still play with props, but in a way that encourages the learning of new movements (think wax on, wax off only for ballet!). Ballet is taught as the basics and foundation of other dance forms, and older students can add in other dance forms. There is also a great feeling just bringing your children to the school. You can watch your younger children dance, as they are in a classroom with a large window for parents to look through), so you never feel like you don't know what they are learning or how they are doing. The teachers will answer questions and have often stayed late to do so. I have personally taken some of the adult classes as well, and I highly recommend them! Right now, they're trying to get some of us former dancers back into form, and it's fantastic.

I didn't realize that these were part of ballroom dancing until I arrived. I found this place via MeetUp, and they had offered to introduce me to their class. And, knowing me, I love trying new things, so I couldn't help but jump on the offer! To make things even more fun, I proposed this to a first date, and *spoiler alert* he is still part of my life, haha. So, what does that mean? This place has some magic brewing about. The class: It was about 1 hour long, and I felt completely at home. It was an introductory class where we learned the basics of ballroom dancing. I love how the "leads" have to ask the "followers" out for a dance prior to dancing with them. The whole experience was met with tons of smiles, laughter, and memories. I'm definitely coming back for another class once I figure out my schedule, and I couldn't recommend this place more! They make you feel right at home while ensuring that you have a fantastic time here. I also loved how they teased me about my date, haha. And, yes, he enjoyed it as well!
