We signed up for the 5 dance package. It very easy to select times for our dance lesson that worked for us and our schedule. We really enjoyed our lessons with Maria. She did a great job demonstrating the steps and breaking down each step so we knew exactly how to move. Each class, we would revisit the previous lessons and learn more advanced moves. We went through lots of reps and practiced a lot to the music. By the end of our sessions, we felt extremely confident and our first dance went really well! Our wedding guests were so impressed with our turns and dip. Definitely recommend coming here!

Neither me or my husband dance and we were nervous for our first dance and our dance lesson. From the moment we stepped into the studio, Maria made both of us very comfortable. She broke down all of the dance steps into small parts to build our confidence and had us put them all together once we mastered them. We left the dance lesson feeling much more confident in our skills and continued to practice at home according to her suggestions. On our wedding day, we were able to enjoy our first dance as a married couple and feel confident in our skills thanks to Maria!

We are…read morenot natural dancers (which is why we sought lessons!), but Deborah worked with us to choreograph a first dance routine that we were excited to perform. We left our final lesson well prepared and comfortable to "WOW" our guests with a romantic and elegant performance. We had to reschedule a lesson due to an unforeseen health issue, and Deborah was more than willing to work with us. We greatly appreciated her flexibility to shuffle her schedule to accommodate our unexpected change of plans. Another benefit to working with Deborah: She has us record ourselves dancing before the end of each lesson so we have a video to review as we practice. It really helps to learn the steps. Thank you, Deborah, for offering us this experience!

Only real note that she was running late. She gave us a heads up in advance, but even still she ran later than her heads up provided. The session itself went fine, my fiancee and I were just trying to get a little bit more comfortable for our first dance. We upgraded our package for an additional two lessons, planning to do another Sunday double session. We had planned to make it that day, but my fiancee had a migraine and we didn't think it was safe for her to try dancing for two hours. This is when the problems started. First, I'll say that yes, we asked to reschedule with not very much notice, but I agreed to the fees required to reschedule the sessions. The process of rescheduling was so needlessly complicated by Deborah. She agreed that day to a rescheduled lesson in a few weeks and when the day prior came she denied ever having agreed to it and did not take any responsibility for it at all. Her website shows a ton of availability, but she doesn't want to come to the studio just for one session, so she continually offers sessions we're not available for in order to make it as economical for her as possible. There's a ton of back and forth about scheduling, but eventually we get both lessons rescheduled. On the day of our lesson, Deborah again lets us know 50 minutes before the start of our session that she's running 10 minutes late. We are already on our way there since we do not live especially close. We get to the studio 5 minutes early, but Deborah's previous lesson runs OVER 20 MINUTES LATE. There's no apology, no excuse, no explanation of any kind. My fiancee confronts her about this, since it's very disrespectful of our time and not the first incident, and Deborah loses her temper immediately. No self-reflection whatsoever, just an insistence that we should be happy for the "free rehearsal time" while we wait for our lesson to start. With her refusal to take any responsibility and getting angry at us for asking her to, we did not feel comfortable continuing with the lesson. I asked her to refund the rescheduling fee, she declined, so I disputed it with my credit card. I then got this nasty note when she cancelled our remaining session, which is full of lies. I've attached both my messages with her and her message to me so you can judge for yourselves. The main things to remember if you're considering The Wedding Dance Specialists and Deborah in particular are: * She will not be on time, and will not be sorry about it * She will not be accommodating of rescheduling, even in cases of illness * She will make stuff up to justify her actions * If you have any kind of negative feedback she will absolutely lose her temper. (you can see it in her replies to these reviews) Take the one and two star reviews seriously. They are extremely true to our experience.

I was visiting a relative in town and was just looking for a place to run and work out in that wasn't outdoors in 90+-degree weather. (We Southern Californians are weather wimps.) It was so nice and cool - which is not true of all DC-area gyms. It was also clean and felt very safe for my first indoors post-pandemic workout. Best of all, the people that worked there were super helpful while being low-key. And it wasn't crowded both times I went, with the customers also seeming to be pretty low-key while being focused on their workout. (No grunting loudly every single rep and slamming weights down at the end of the set, which, any pro will tell you, honestly means you need to take the weights down a bit until you can control them.) I just wish I could transport Energy Club to Southern California. But if you live in the area, do yourself a favor and check them out.

If you're new to the area, or just in a physical/social rut from winter doldrums, joining this gym can really shake up the mundane. They offer monthly member socials, parents night out, running clubs, and lots of challenges (boot camp, anyone?) and special sessions (hip opening yoga for runners). Facilities are extremely well maintained. Take a reliably hot shower in the sparkling locker rooms. Forgot a razor? They'll hook you up. Wind down in the sauna. Most of all, it's the team members, led by Joanne, who make this place great. I've had David as a personal trainer, and his calm yet persistent coaching really maximizes the impact of each session. If you love to dance, you gotta try Zumba with Karmina- it's hoppin like a Puerto Rican dance club and I always leave in a great mood. Body pump with Joanne, Cindy, and others is by far the most effective workout for women looking to tone, get lean and stronger. I've been a member since Snowmageddon 2011 and though I try lots of boutique gyms for fun, I'm forever loyal and faithful to the Energy Club. If you give it a try, and try a variety of offerings there, you won't look back.
