I didn't realize that these were part of ballroom dancing until I arrived. I found this place via MeetUp, and they had offered to introduce me to their class. And, knowing me, I love trying new things, so I couldn't help but jump on the offer! To make things even more fun, I proposed this to a first date, and *spoiler alert* he is still part of my life, haha. So, what does that mean? This place has some magic brewing about. The class: It was about 1 hour long, and I felt completely at home. It was an introductory class where we learned the basics of ballroom dancing. I love how the "leads" have to ask the "followers" out for a dance prior to dancing with them. The whole experience was met with tons of smiles, laughter, and memories. I'm definitely coming back for another class once I figure out my schedule, and I couldn't recommend this place more! We had to reschedule a lesson due to an unforeseen health issue, and Deborah was more than willing to work with us. We greatly appreciated her flexibility to shuffle her schedule to accommodate our unexpected change of plans. Only real note that she was running late. She gave us a heads up in advance, but even still she ran later than her heads up provided. The session itself went fine, my fiancee and I were just trying to get a little bit more comfortable for our first dance. We upgraded our package for an additional two lessons, planning to do another Sunday double session. We had planned to make it that day, but my fiancee had a migraine and we didn't think it was safe for her to try dancing for two hours. This is when the problems started. First, I'll say that yes, we asked to reschedule with not very much notice, but I agreed to the fees required to reschedule the sessions. The process of rescheduling was so needlessly complicated by Deborah. She agreed that day to a rescheduled lesson in a few weeks and when the day prior came she denied ever having agreed to it and did not take any responsibility for it at all. Her website shows a ton of availability, but she doesn't want to come to the studio just for one session, so she continually offers sessions we're not available for in order to make it as economical for her as possible. There's a ton of back and forth about scheduling, but eventually we get both lessons rescheduled. On the day of our lesson, Deborah again lets us know 50 minutes before the start of our session that she's running 10 minutes late. We are already on our way there since we do not live especially close. We get to the studio 5 minutes early, but Deborah's previous lesson runs OVER 20 MINUTES LATE. There's no apology, no excuse, no explanation of any kind. My fiancee confronts her about this, since it's very disrespectful of our time and not the first incident, and Deborah loses her temper immediately. No self-reflection whatsoever, just an insistence that we should be happy for the "free rehearsal time" while we wait for our lesson to start. With her refusal to take any responsibility and getting angry at us for asking her to, we did not feel comfortable continuing with the lesson. I asked her to refund the rescheduling fee, she declined, so I disputed it with my credit card. I then got this nasty note when she cancelled our remaining session, which is full of lies. I've attached both my messages with her and her message to me so you can judge for yourselves. The main things to remember if you're considering The Wedding Dance Specialists and Deborah in particular are: * She will not be on time, and will not be sorry about it * She will not be accommodating of rescheduling, even in cases of illness * She will make stuff up to justify her actions * If you have any kind of negative feedback she will absolutely lose her temper. (you can see it in her replies to these reviews) Take the one and two star reviews seriously. They are extremely true to our experience.

While it may be a little strange to get to the location from the strange turn off Carlin Springs Road, then winding your way towards the back in between a church and some other fitness establishment, it is there, so go! They have recently changed the outside decor to have a welcoming, vibrant blue along the wall, so it is easier to find. What can one do here if you've never thought about any of the things they do here? That's up to you. I can only comment on what I've tried out, so far! The studio has plenty of evening classes during the week and a bunch on the weekends during the day and afternoon. Classes vary from stretching and flexibility to conditioning, including focusing on splits, backbends and handstands. They also of course focus on skills like dance trapeze, aerial trapeze, Lyra, silks, handstands, and rope. I'm sure there are more, but I can't remember. I like that the classes complement each other - so maybe go to a stretching/ flexibility class like splits and then go to a Lyra or aerial trapeze class. The classes have different levels, but you first would need to start at an introduction to ... class. There are 2 basic intro. classes - the introduction to hard apparatus (aerial trapeze and Lyra) and the introduction to soft apparatus (silks). They are 2 very different classes, but I guarantee you will feel all the physical demands of fitness by completing one of these classes. Once you complete one of those, you are free to sign up for level 1 classes of those respective apparatuses. Wondering how much stretching you should do before a class? Don't wonder, every class instructor builds in stretching to the class. So, if the class is 1 hour and 30 minutes, at least 10 minutes will help your body get ready for the class, and at least 5 minutes at the end to stretch out as well. For every class I've attended, the instructors are patient, knowledgeable, talented and creative. That means, for someone like me, who is challenged in knowing how to move body parts when I'm hanging upside down or what's forward vs backwards left vs right, they are super helpful to guide you. They are all also very respectful and will interact with you with your pronouns and your level of comfort in how you like to receive instruction. I am super impressed with how the instructors can reevaluate your abilities and needs and help you figure out how to do the things. It looks easy for the instructors/ coaches, but... it's definitely not easy for me, and they never hesitate to help and encourage me. I first started here because I was interested in aerial trapeze, but then I took a few Lyra classes and some silks. Then there were handstand classes, too. I am still most interested in aerial trapeze, but there is only 1 of those level 1 classes a week, and it books up! They do have open studio times for your practicing needs, so that's awesome. I love the silks classes, and there are more of the level 1 classes - they go up to level 3, wow! Handstands are currently once a week, but I've never seen all of the spots taken. It's a great class though! The parking is super easy, and it's free, so that's awesome. However, sometimes, it gets really busy - especially the weekends, but you can generally still find a spot. Try this out if you have any interest in aerial arts. You will love it and be challenged and will go back! See you at Monarca!

The instructor, Kat, was knowledgeable, engaging, welcoming and patient with everyone in the class! We started class with a 20-minute warm-up and then started with basic moves on the silks. We definitely enjoyed the class with Kat, but wanted to try the intro to hard apparatus class which includes working with the lyra and trapeze. Unfortunately, the studio has a 60 day policy to take your second class after taking your first class. This was not made clear to my two friends and I. We asked specifically after our first class if there was a time restriction to take our next class and was told there was no expiration for our second class. However, this was not the same message I received from the staff when I tried to email them to sign up for the second class. This policy is not listed on their website nor on the Groupon, making it very disappointing because we were excited to take another class. I would have highly recommended this studio if this problem was resolved, but the lack of customer service and ability to be flexible with their customers was disheartening.

My daughter has been there for almost 3 years and has loved her teachers. The instructors and staff are knowledgeable, experienced and caring. There is a feeling of community and a healthy dance atmosphere being fostered among the students - both in the regular and pre-professional divisions. Students in the upper divisions love the studio - which says a lot. The choreography of the two yearly pre-pro shows is outstanding: creative, dynamic and gives everyone a chance to shine. I got the 7:50pm cause the time posted was 8pm class, but apparently it would start at 8:30pm. People did their own "stretching". As soon as the class started the with choreographer begin with his first step. He gave a good class but not the usual type of classes I attend to in the Philippines. They usually start with an intro about the piece and what to focus on when doing the class which eventually came up during my class here. The technique and choreography is good. :)
