We signed up for the 5 dance package. It very easy to select times for our dance lesson that worked for us and our schedule. We really enjoyed our lessons with Maria. She did a great job demonstrating the steps and breaking down each step so we knew exactly how to move. Each class, we would revisit the previous lessons and learn more advanced moves. We went through lots of reps and practiced a lot to the music. By the end of our sessions, we felt extremely confident and our first dance went really well! We booked a dance lesson with Maria at Dance Studio Lioudmila to practice our first dance for our April 2024 wedding. Elena is THE BEST!! My fiancé and I needed lessons three days before our wedding, as did he and his mom, and Elena got back to me immediately to fit us in her schedule (I called other studios in the area and their prices were either outrageous or they just didn't respond.) She was SO nice and accommodating. We never had lessons before so we were a bit nervous about being able to pull this off before the big day, but Elena was so professional and talented that we ended up having a beautiful first dance where we felt at ease (after just one 60 minute session). My new husband and I absolutely LOVE Lioudmila! We had her choreograph a rumba for us for our first dance and it was the best decision ever. We gave her our music on the first day, and she immediately had a routine in her head. We took 5 lessons with her and finished our routine around the 4th lesson. She gave us some pretty challenging combinations that we really enjoyed. She also proceeded to teach us some argentine tango and salsa moves when our routine finished. My wife and I took lessons from Elena at Lioudmila's for our first dance last year. Not only did we need substantial help learning how to dance, but also asked that they choreographer something unique for a less traditional "first dance" song-- Gone Gone Gone, by Philip Phillips. We worked with Elena for a few weeks and not only were we able to pull it off, but it was truly one of the highlights of the evening. I cannot possible recommend Lioudimila's enough. I've been taking classes at Dance Studio Lioudmila for few moths now and I absolutely love it. First of all- they offer a god variety of classes. All instructors are professional and really care about students and are proud of students' achievements as they would be proud of their own.My personal favorite is Karen,but seriously- it's hard to pick just one. Their unlimited monthly membership option is great- saves money and brings per class value down substantially. I've never taken wedding dance classes, but I've seen couples taking those...very impressive. And the best thing about it- there is no pressure, they are not trying to sell you more...I've been to the studios where I had to quite because of the " we'll sell you more" pressure. We met Elena for six lessons and it couldn't have been a better experience. It was recommended to us from another couple and we have since recommended it to others because we had such a good experience. My husband and I were starting at -1 when it came to choreographed dancing but our instructor, Nadege, made us feel at ease and was very patient. It was easy to communicate with her to schedule our sessions and zero pressure to buy a big package - we bought a pack of three and added on a forth. Our first dance song was a bit untraditional, an 80's classic rock song - but Nadege choreographed a custom, awesome dance for us that definitely challenged us a bit as beginners but made us look like professionals. My fiancé (now husband) and I took dance lessons at Lioudmila's last year to learn our first dance for our wedding. Overall it was an excellent experience and we would highly recommend the studio, namely Lena who was our instructor. The studio is clean and was always busy in that there was always at least one class and/or private lesson occurring while we were there. They seemed to offer instruction in all types of dance for young adults to spry senior citizens. All the employees I interacted with at the front desk or over the phone were nice and polite. Our instructor Lena was very nice and patient. She truly listened to what we desired for our first dance and choreographed something that we could master. My fiancé and I had unpredictable schedules and Lena was very flexible whenever we needed to change the date or time of our lesson. At the end of each lesson she recorded what we worked on so the next lesson we could start where we left off. Our dance involved my father who could only attend one lesson and Lena was very welcoming to him as well as other family who wanted to come and watch lessons. Our first dance was a huge success and both my husband and I felt very confident after all our lessons (9 total). We had one lesson left in our package after the wedding, and Lena contacted us a few months later to make us aware. I appreciated her honesty! read more

Wonderful! I went to Studio Lioudmila for a wedding dance crash-course and I have been very impressed. They have a good price, give you more time with the instructor than other studios, and are very nice. I am a beginner, so I really appreciate their helpful attitude and clear communication. And even my fiancee, who is an experienced dancer, was learning a lot from our competition-winning instructor. I really couldn't ask for better instruction! I cannot say enough good things about Dance Studio Lioudmila and their team of talented studio staff and independent dance instructors! The instructors are talented, extremely professional, warm, and welcoming - which is important because whether you're learning to dance for the very first time or if you are a seasoned dancer wanting to perfect your skills, you want to enjoy your time on the dance floor. The studio is very large and the floor is a beautiful setting on which to dance. There is abundant free parking. The Saturday night dance parties are fun for couples and singles and include a 45 minute dance lesson. He's witty & patient with our 8ppl in our group, and seems to make sure everyone is understanding the steps or least faking it! Elena was very responsive and reliable in setting up a private dance lesson for me and my son. In just the 1 hour lesson she choreographed a mother-son dance for my son's wedding. She knew how to guide and instruct us with very helpful tips. Elena is a rockstar instructor! My husband and I took 5 or 6 (can't remember now) private lessons with her last summer leading up to our wedding. She choreographed the entire first dance for us (we clocked it at about 2.5 minutes). It was simple enough for us to just barely remember it but still looked fabulous. We pulled off a wonderful dance at our wedding and we couldn't be happier. My husband has two left feet and I might maybe have a tendency to lead, but with Elena's help and encouragement, not to mention her awesome dry sense of humor, we had a blast and looked good doing it... over time of course. The studio the lessons happen in is a large space where there are other lessons, groups and small classes happening too. It was initially a little off putting but it ended up being the best scenario since it helped us get used to distractions around us for the big day when all eyes would be on us and our first dance. Dance Studio Lioudmila is a friendly, welcoming oasis of ballroom dancing in Alexandria, just off Duke Street. The place has plenty of parking, and offers fun group dance lessons. Students can also take private lessons from quite a variety of really good instructors who, miraculously, all seem to get along with each other -- something that has not been the case in other studios I have been to in the past. Lioudmila offers excellent dance workshops periodically, and her spring and fall showcases are absolutely fantastic, and feature many of the wonderful teachers and students of all levels who dance there. One instructor in particular is late for most private lesson and has been a no-show on several occasions. Sadly this one bad apple reflects on the studio as a whole. Migle was a tremendous teacher and a real life-saver. My fiance and I had taken a lesson at a different studio in preparation for our upcoming wedding, but we didn't like the teacher, and time was running out. My friend invited me to Saturday party in Lioudmila dance studio. It was a lot of fun, except the fact that they don't really have professional young dance instructors who can really teach you. I was in another dance studios in the area, they have a lot of Eastern Europeans guys who are awesome dancers and I would recommend other places if you are looking for that. Because most of the stuff here are in age...I think that you need to hire more young professionals, juts an advice, but I'm sure that you know how to run your own business. My boyfriend and I took our first salsa lesson here last night and were incredibly impressed. We have been looking for a place to take lessons in DC for the last year and finally came across this place located in nearby Alexandria. When you walk in (after easily finding location and free parking) you walk upstairs into a beautifully kept studio and are greeted promptly by a lovely receptionist. She quickly brought us up to speed on pricing options/packages and no hard sell. I asked if we could decide after taking the class whether we wanted to pay for the single class or invest in the 4-pack and it was no issue at all. While we waited we enjoyed watching private lessons and our teacher approached us to introduce herself and make us feel welcome/comfortable. The class ended up with about 12 people, both couples and singles. She started by simply playing the music and teaching our ears the counts/beats. The group immediately felt comfortable with switching partners while the instructor provided thoughtful and specific advice to each of us as individuals. Dance studio Lioudmila is the best dance studio I've experienced over my last 5-6 years of dance learning experience. And Lioudmila, the owner, is the best teacher I've ever met. Her explanations are short, sweet and up to the point. She gives material pretty quick and very understandable. No dragging feet over and over the same moves as some other teachers do and no extra words and stories during the lessons, as I see some people complained about in reviews. The studio itself is very conveniently situated next to the beltway and pretty close to Alexandria Old Town. It has ample of space, which can accommodate several different classes at the same time and is a perfect place for the weekly social dances, where you don't have to run over the next couple every time you turn around. The atmosphere is very pleasant and friendly. The crowd is a mix of all ages. The prices are fair and affordable. I do recommend this dance studio to all my friends and will continue to do so. I am completely satisfied with the Lioudmila Dance Studio. My husband and I initially took some group lessons at the studio and they were lots of fun. We got exposure to several of the instructors at the studio and all were very informative and patient with all new and experienced students. But then we realized as non dancers we wanted and needed more one on one instruction. We were preparing ourselves to enjoy our daughter's engagement party and wedding this fall. We worked with Jia for several weeks. Her instruction matched our level of training. She was patient, gave very concrete and understandable instruction, and demonstrated with both of us all the moves. We also requested her to help choreograph the Father/Daughter Dance. The steps were broken down and simple to learn. In fact, our daughter joined us for one lesson so she could learn and practice the dance with her father.
